I really liked the idea of the soft fabric cable as well...at first. But then I realized that it increases friction as it rubs against clothing or whatnot, and you can hear it in your ears. Of course when you turn up the volume a bit, it isn't as noticeable, but its still there. Though I do agree that it shouldn't freeze in the winter, which is VERY annoying.
