i got: A Raglan Printed A-Line Tunic by Juma

This image is a little different to most of the i got posts I make. I decided to switch it up and add an action shot. I’m wearing a Raglan Printed A-Line Tunic by Juma. I’m wearing it as a dress here, but it would look great with skinny pants or leggings. My friend Naomi is wearing a cute Tshirt dress and belt from the Gap. The ring is Toni Cavelti. Since she was in the photo I thought you’d might like to know what she is wearing too.

i want: Woolrich Converse

Woolrich Converse I noticed that plaid was big for men at the Holt Renfrew Fall 2009 – 2010 Menswear Media Preview. I kinda liked that and these Chucks immediately struck a cord. The interesting thing about these ones are the Woolrich angle. Woolrich has been synonymous with quality outdoor clothing for over 178 years. The company got its start in 1830 when John Rich, an immigrant from England, built his first woolen mill in Plum Run, Pennsylvania. Rich would visit the lumber camps that dotted the area and sell his woolen fabric, socks, coverlets, and yarn from a mule cart. image: sneakerfreaker.com

FDJ, a Press Junket Adventure

I don’t know how I found myself on a porter plane going to Dorval airport thursday morning but there I was. I received an email from Julie Leblanc from Girafe Communications inviting me to a press retreat in Mont Tremblant for French Dressing Jeans. I didnt know anything about them so I checked the website and desaw that they were based in Quebec. Good, a Canadian company I thought to myself, I feel better about accepting the offer. I packed feverlishy into wee hours of the night. There was no point in sleeping as it would be more painful. I had to get to the airport for 6:30 but I wanted to arrive earlier to enjoy the infamous Porter lounge. I’m in the Lounge, huge Burberry sunglasses hiding my tired eyes and a machine capacinuo in my hands. I said screw comfort and wore heels. I might feel like a zombie but I wasn’t gonna look like one. Very nice lounge, civilized and quiet. I boarded the plane. It was a prop plane and not …

Fashion House is a condo building that is located around Brand and King Street West. It has housed a couple fashion parties in the past. They asked 11 Canadian designers to create interiors for the floors of the building. Celebrate the best in Canadian fashion in the heart of Toronto’s Fashion District. Eleven of Canada’s premier fashion designers have added their personal touches to the floors of Fashion House and will be on hand to toast Toronto’s first, award-winning fashion / condo project. This is your chance to mix, mingle and immerse yourself in all that is made-to-measure and ready to dwell. Fashion House – impeccable style from the inside, out. The party was a mix of designers, media, Holt Renfrew staff, unit owners and developer friends. The Holt Renfrew connection is through the Unit Holder contest. If you buy a unit you have a chance to win a $100,000 shopping spree at Holt Renfrew. That’s some serious coin to go through. I loved Andy Thê-Anh board. The dress is made from wood. It’s beautiful. …

Get it stuck in your brain so you don’t even think of it. There are many things you can do and I’m going to talk about the things I do daily over the course of the next week. i got: Final Fashion Dr Martens

Final Fashion Dr Martens are finally mine. I’ve been waiting for a year and it was totally worth it. As you might recall from this post Danielle Meder wins the Dr Martens Boot Design Contest. I was so excited that I made a little video for this i got. They are 14 holes. In all my years of owning Docs these were like the holy grail. I only did make it to 12 hole, but they had a buckle across the top of the boot that made them awesome. The leather on these are a little softer than your regular Dr Martens. I can’t express how much I love these boots. They remind me of my high school and university years. I’ve finally have a pair of Dr. Martens in my possession after years of being absent. You can grab the Final Fashion Dr. Martens at Neon Clothing. There’s one on Queen West.

Holt Renfrew Blogger Windows

Well, I hinted at the Holt Renfrew Blogger Windows on my 4 year anniversary post. Now the news has hit up the International fashion press and it’s spreading. Holt Renfrew is paying tribute to six of their favourite fashion bloggers. I want – I got happens to be on that list. 🙂 WWD was the first out the gate. The press release hasn’t been sent, but they were tipped off by someone. I’ve been yapping on twitter about it for a few weeks now. Racked LA, Mens.style.com, Modelinia, The Cut, Puretrend.com and Fashionista chipped in too. I’m not mentioned in the international press, I’m not fashion blog famous. I just have my little abode here in Toronto. On the Canadian media front, Danielle at Final Fashion was quick to post, as was fashionmagazine.com. They both mentioned me and I love them for it. So you are wondering who else is Holt’s favourites? They are Scott Schuman, Bryanboy, Tommy Ton, Jane Aldridge and Garance Doré. I knew my blog was read in Holt’s head office, but …

I want – I got 4 years strong.

I want – I got is 54 years old today. It blows my mind that I’m still doing this. It’s a good thing of course and I’m still enjoying myself. I thought you’d get a kick out of my first ever post which explains the concept of the site. It’s amazing to see what has happened in the 4 years since the concept I threw together without thinking has conceived. why? Lot’s of things have changed since I wrote that. In 2006, I started writing for blogTO and that got me entrenched in the Toronto fashion scene. During that time I want – I got’s popularity was rising. In spring 2009, I resigned from blogTO to make I want – I got my number one priority. My writing for blogTO had been dwindling over the last year. Working fulltime and dealing with I want – I got resulted in a lot of priority changes. I knew it was time to move on. So, I’m hoping for continued success with I want – I got over …

My Celebrate Courage necklace is on sale now.

A month ago I participated in Mimi + You Celebrate Courage Workshop. The necklace I made is now on sale at MiMi + You website. It looks a little different then what was in the last post. At that point it wasn’t completed as the there needed some a way to attach the chains part to the beaded part. Mitra took it away to do complete that. She managed to incorporate one of my original ideas that I dropped, ribbon. I’m very happy with the final product. If you would like to participate in a workshop there are a few scheduled during the next few months: June 24, 2009 – July 22, 2009 – August 19, 2009 – September 23, 2009 Workshops start at 6:30 p.m. sharp Participation fee is $20 per person The Spoke Club 600 King Street West 4th floor, Cellar Room Toronto, ON To RSVP please visit the Mimi + You Celebrate Courage website. Eleven Opening with Fashion Magazine

Eleven Boutique and Fashion Magazine teamed up to put on an official opening party for the newest women’s fashion shop in Yorkville. There was an official ribbon cutting ceremony a few weeks ago. I was invited but couldn’t attend. Eleven carries Lundström, Joeffer Caoc and Thien Le. The selection from the Lundström collection is massive, so this should be your first stop when looking for anything Lundström. I got to meet Linda Lundström for the first time, as well as Thien Le. At this point, I had not seen any Thien Le gowns in person. I saw his golf collection at SS08 fashion week. Upstairs there were a few women playing dress up in Thien Le and Lundström. After chatting with Thien Le he twisted my arm and I decided to play dress up in a few of his dresses. Eleven has a great selection of jewellery. I was very impressed with the offerings. Jimmy Choo x H&M

So the news broke last night, Jimmy Choo will be the next designer for H&M. This a big one for all the Sex in The City wannabes. This autumn, British accessory brand Jimmy Choo will bring its international glamour and covetable shoes and bags to selected H&M stores. The collection will be available from November 14 in around 200 stores across the world. It is the first time that H&M is collaborating with an accessories brand, and to celebrate Jimmy Choo will extend its design vision for this collection to women’s clothing to complement the accessories. Further exciting news is that this collaboration includes a men’s collection of shoes, bags and accessories. I’m not a fan of Jimmy Choo, his shoes do nothing for me in general. I’m hoping H&M does the right thing and make the shoes from leather and not plastic. If you have seen the shoes lying on the sale tables right now you can understand what I mean. A Jimmy Choo shoe out of plastic, it’s like blasphemy to me. I …

Research shows that 90% of Canadians want to be more physically active, but cite lack of time as a main deterrent. To address this, the CCA is launching a new website on June 17, 2009, called Fit-in 15. The site encourages Canadians to commit to …

TÔ Long-Nam Fall 2009 – 2010 Lookbook

I received an email from designer, TÔ Long-Nam. Of all the information I’ve received from designers over the years here, this was the best crafted email I’ve read. I appreciated the attention the detail and biographical information immensely. He was born in Viêtnam, grew up in Munich and went to school at the Academy of Fine Arts Berlin-Weissensee in Fashion-Design. Long-Nam worked with famous stylists Victoria Bartett and Patti Wilson. His forey into fashion design started as a design assistant for Lanvin menswear. Positive encouragement after participating in the 21st International Fashion Competition prompted him to start his own line. He has also collaborated with designer Alessandra Facchinetti while she was at Valentino. While working on the Spring 2010 collection he is working for Superfine London, a denim company I’m very fond of. All this information was great, but I would have been sold at the photos. Long-Nam says this about his Fall 2009 – 2010 collection: Force has always been a keyword in the design principles of TÔ Long-Nam. For Fall/Winter 2009 the collection …

Lanvin Resort 2010

I’m a total Lanvin fangirl so it’s pretty much guaranteed I’m gonna like the collections. Lanvin showed a much more sporty style for Resort. Lots of running shoes and jumpers. Yes, I approve of both. The colours are so vibrant and rich. I really liked the presentation of the collection. It seemed more like a lookbook than runway show. Models were paired together or alone and in motion. I’m a sucker for the in motion shots. There were the more sporty items paired with Lanvin sneakers and then they were the elegant pieces. The beautiful dresses we are use to drooling over. images: Style.com
