The Philip Sparks shop hosts its first exhibition featuring the work of Vancouver-based jewellery maker, sculptor and furniture designer Dina GonzÃ¡lez MascarÃ³ from January 22 to 27. Part of the annual Toronto Design Offsite Festival, “SORRY, I’M NOT SORRY, I’M NOT A JEWELLER â€¦â€ will introduce GonzÃ¡lez MascarÃ³’s art jewellery including new work, original pieces and limited edition series to Toronto.
Trained as a sculptor in her native Argentina, Dina GonzÃ¡lez MascarÃ³’s work straddles the worlds of art and design, focusing on three-dimensional pieces with an industrial look that reference architecture and rubble. GonzÃ¡lez MascarÃ³ works out of her own shop and studio in Vancouver that is featured as a must-visit in Taschen’s The New York Times 36 hours: 150 weekends in the USA and Canada. The opening reception is on Tuesday, January 22 2013 from 6 pm to 9 pm.
