Just for Us Originals is pleased to present THE Wearable Art Show, taking place at 918 Bathurst in Toronto on October 25 and 26, 2013. Part of the “slow fashion†movement, the show and sale will feature breathtaking one-of-a-kind art pieces in the form of wearable garments and accessories. With 40 all-Canadian exhibitors, highlights of the event include daily fashion shows and a new exhibit from The Fashion History Museum.
“We are excited to be launching the Architectural Challenge to this year’s The Wearable Art Show artists,†said The Fashion History Museum’s curator, Jonathan Walford. “The submissions, which will explore the relationship between fashion and architecture, will be featured in a special exhibit at the show and are sure to be a highlight for attendees. One piece will be selected for the museum’s exhibition ‘Street Style’ which will open in May 2014.â€
THE Wearable Art Show is proud to invite noted Canadian designer Linda Lundstrom to the event for the first time. After taking a short break, Linda returns to the Canadian fashion scene with her new clothing line L. Designed. Other newcomers to the show include three dimensional jewellery designer Elizabete Ludviks, fiber artist Shelley Fowler, and up-and-comer Lori Lavers, who has created an entirely new category of children’s special occasion headpieces.
This year’s attendance is expected to be the largest to date, with fan favourites including David Dunkley, the most recognizable name in couture millinery in Canada, and Karen Gunna, whose geometric handbags are a hot seller at the show. Other crowd pleasers include show founder, Bonnie Glass, returning clothing designer Jannis Ruck, of Olio Eco, and statement jewellery designer Joanna Furtado, of Belle Boutique.
Tickets are only $10 per person and available online at http://www.thewearableartshow.com/ or at the door.
