One of my favourite labels Phi is shutting down. Their amazing Spring 2010 collection never went into production. When I’m in Holt Renfrew I look at the final few pieces of Phi and mourn a little. It seemed they were just hitting their stride. For the last few seasons, Phi had been pumping out some drool worthy collections.

Seeing this Phi Fall 2009 ad campaign by Steven Meisel prompted me to write this post. Not only did Phi have great clothing, I loved the ad campaigns. Phi Fall 2009 featured my fav, Sasha.

Phi was one of the shows I saw in NYC at fashion week. It was my first viewing of the super popular models of Spring 2009 like Sasha P, Freja, Kinga, Irina, Hye, Suvi and Natasha. I was in awe of these people. It was then I learned that my instinct not to compare myself to these people was correct. They are freaks of nature (the a good way) and most people will never look like them.

How can we forgot the beautiful Art Deco inspired ad campaign for Spring 2009.

I also like the Fall 2008 campaign.

You have seen photos of my Erdem dress during |FAT|. It was a super find at the Hazel Liquidation Sale. It was 90% off coming in at a cool $73.
It’s from the Fall 2008 collection. The show has other garments in the same print, but not this simple dress design.
Erdem is known for his prints and they are breathtaking. I could frame this dress and be very happy looking at the print, but it’s much more fun to wear.
Erdem can be found at The Room in The Bay.

I wanted Members Only Liquid Leggings back in July of 2008. They were priced at $98.00 (yikes!!!) and available at Urban Outfitters. Today I found them on sale at Urban Outfitters for 20 bucks. Score!!!
They really do feel a little weird. I don’t anticipate they breathe much, but they aren’t as bad as the American Apparel versions. I can’t help but love them, they are so obnoxious.

I recently purchased some Superfine Denim on sale at Jonathan + Olivia. The style name was Liberty and it came with black sheen. They almost looked like pants instead of jeans.

I don’t have any pictures of myself in them so I leave you with Doutzen being Doutzen instead. They are a great fitting pair of jeans. I have yet to wash them so I’m not sure how the colour and fabric treatment will fare afterwards. We shall see.

Market research – Tokyo
Although not part of its cultural tradition, Japan fully embraces the fun – and commercial spirit – of Christmas. As the festive season draws nearer, Monocle’s house model hits the streets to fill his basket for a toasty night with an equally hot companion.
Monocle’s male editorials are my favourite right now. See previous.

How can you not resist a shoe inspired by Icarus.

Spring 2009, inspired by the samurai, looks like it will be just as interesting.

It was starting to get cold in Toronto and I needed a puffy down jacket. I have a lot of wool jackets that require way too many layers in the winter. I wanted a jacket that I could wear without a lot of layers. My ski jacket is down, but it’s not long enough.
It happened to be Buy Local Week when I started to I decided that I would buy a Canadian made jacket. My choices were slim, Canada Goose or CDN Spirit. I decided on the Cdn Spirit because Canada Goose is just too expensive, double the price.
I’m very, very happy with my purchase. The jacket is super warm and the fleece cuffs are a nice touch and keeps the wind from blowing up my sleeves. Cdn Spirit is carried by Sporting Life and Holly’s Fashions. I got mine at the Holly’s Fashion shop in the TD Centre.
The picture isn’t the best because I’m pretty lazy right now and can’t be bothered to take one.
