Coach is now open in the Eaton Centre

I visited the new Coach store with a co-worker last week. That store offends all my sensibilities. I was bombarded with the horrible CC monogram those horrible patchwork bags were all over the place. I can’t remember the last time I saw so many fugly bags in one place. Actually, I don’t think I’ve every seen so many fugly bags in one place. The store is accessories only, no clothing. I didn’t see any shoes, but I could be wrong.

Look at this hideous thing, who finds this appealing. I want to know.

They did have the only thing I could find on the website that I liked.

What was I thinking

I’m really new to the services a shoe repairman offers as I’ve never really used them. I didn’t realize their power until I decided to sell these beautiful Nine West platforms I own.

Aren’t they awesome? You could imagine how heart wrenching the decision to sell them was. They were just too damn tight in the toe area. I have a high tolerance for pain and I couldn’t fight through wearing them. Brand freaking new, I had worn them twice. TWICE!!! I was so disappointed.

Thank god for MJ. He asked me why I was selling those beautiful heels. This statement was like salt on the wounds. When MJ likes something, I know without a doubt that it’s hot. Hot as term has forever been tainted because of that damn Paris Hilton. It’s such an accurate description. Damn Paris Hilton and those shoes, they were slipping through my fingers. I was getting angry again when MJ says, “Are they too short or is it just tight in the toe area? You can get them stretched you know?” I never heard of this before. My god, I will get to keep them after all. YAY!

I finally took my heels to Kaner’s in Yorkville. MJ told me that they are one of the best shoe repair shops in the city. It worked like a charm, the shoes are much roomier. My heels are leather so they can be stretched.

They also fixed the heel stop on my Sorina mary janes. I initially took them to a shop in the Path and they didn’t know how to repair a shoe at all. The heel is made out of plastic so it needed glue and nails. I asked the guy to do whatever it takes to get that stop to stay on, he’s the shoe expert right. It was nailed only and came out right away. I was pissed. Kaner’s all the way. They also do handbag repair.

What, I can’t hear you.

I don’t understand. I ventured into the new Abercrombie & Fitch store in the Eaton Centre. Man, was the music loud it was like being in a club. Lets say that tshirts, tank tops, sweats and denim aren’t enought to get me excited about A&F, boring. But I’m not really their target demographic either. I didn’t even see any hot boys with no shirts on, boo! To me this stuff is just like American Eagle, Gap, Hollister and Old Navy. I would add too Roots, but at least they make some damn decent leather bags.

related: The man behind Abercrombie & Fitch - shudder.

i got…

I’m not really a trend person, but I did latch on to the “white dress” phenomenon of S/S 2006, take this example from Chloe.
Chloe SS2006
I spent pretty much all spring and summer looking for that perfect white dress. Unfortunately, many I saw were too expensive, not quite right or just plain awful. I finally found what I was looking for on a recent trip to Stella Luna. I had always heard about this store, but just never made it to parkdale. This is by far the best vintage store in the city. I saw many items I liked.

Secrets from your sister

So I decided to get a bra fitting on the weekend. Since I was in the Annex I ended up at Secrets from your sister. It was quite busy so there was a wait. It was well worth it. The staff are awesome. Friendly and helpful, their motto is “you won’t leave here with a bra that doesn’t fit”. I had lots of fun trying on many different bras. I also made some new friends

Princesse Tam-Tam from France
Charnos from the UK
Liz from Brazil

Calvin Klein used to be my favourite. No more, Princesse Tam-Tam has won my heart.

Looking for a good place to buy Dish Jeans in Toronto

I was in Kensington Market this week and discovered a store called C Pub. I walked in and was looking around. The owner looked at my jeans, which happened to be Angie by Dish and then asked me if I bought the jeans at the store. I hadn’t actually they were a boxing day find. She pointed to a pile of Dish jeans on display. The prices are very good at $69.00 a pair. C Pub is located in the space that Astro used to occupy.

Parade’s red tag sale

I stopped in Parade today as I noticed the “all red tag items $26″ sign. I walked out with a few garments as I couldn’t resist. Two lovely wool and silk skirts from the house label Parade, brown velvet capris, a cute green single button cardigan and a beaded green silk tank top. There is a lot of stock to choose from including dresses, pants, skirts, tops, sweaters, suits, etc. The sales associate who I believe is also the owner of the shop was incredibly helpful. I have no idea how long this sale is going to go on for, but if you can get there this weekend, it would be a good idea.

Hollister what are you hiding

I went in the Hollister store on my trip to the Eaton Centre last night. I had to see what all the hubbub was about. I hated it. The most annoying part was how dark it is in the store. You can’t see anything. Even the dressing room area is poorly lit, what the hell. I can only assume that they have something to hide, they don’t want you to see the clothes properly. Not until you get home that is and are too lazy to return it. From what I could see, there was nothing special, nothing worthy of grabbing my attention. Nothing that screamed “YOU MUST OWN ME”. Boo urns Hollister, boo urns.

Boxing Day

I unsure if I am going to shop on boxing day or not as of yet as I have a family party to attend. However, if I was going to go these are my top stops of the day.

1. Over the Rainbow - Denim (well everything) is going to be 20 - 50% off on Monday. Good time to pick up anything that has been out of your price range. 9AM - 8PM

2. Due West - Reasons Diesel, Gsus and Gstar. Diesel shoes were 40% off last year. I also picked up some Diesel shirts and a Gsus sweatshirt at 50% off.

3. Change Room - If you are looking to pick up a warm down jacket on sale, this and Artizia are probably the best places to hit. I can’t remember all the details last year at Change Room. I remember buying something last year, but I honestly can’t remember what it is now.

4. Holt Renfrew - Most things would still be out of my price range, but you might find that deal of a lifetime. I would also check out what food items are on sale. Holt’s has a great food section.

5. Response - Just to check out what Tano bags are on sale if any.

6. Artizia - Another good spot for winter jackets. They have some beautiful high collared jackets similar to a recent “i want…” post, but not in green.

7. Girl Friday - Budget conscious denim hunters should head here first. Canadian brand, Dish Jeans should be on sale.

8. Caban - I would head here to look at the bath and kitchen products. Store opens at 8A.M. on Monday and features and extra 20% off until noon.

9. Lileo - Now Toronto says items are 50% off and doors open at 10A.M. I can predict a madhouse

10. Club Monaco - They open at 8A.M. and offer and extra 10% off before noon.

Tano handbag spotting…

I’ve discovered that Artizia is carrying 2 Tano handbag styles. They are damn good looking ones too.

$195.00 CDN - Alchemist Crunch in chocolate brown

$210 - Gerard Cruberdeen in Pea Green/Brown.

I handled the bags a lot while I was in the store and they are amazing. If you are really into the massive handbag, Tano is your company.
