i want: Tila Sleevless Jacket by Club Monaco

Obsessed is a good way to describe how I feel about the Club Monaco Tila sleevless jacket. The oracle helped me breakdown the perfect looks to pair with it as I was stumped. Now I see them paired with a white shirt and my Gap wide leg trouser jeans (courtesy of Gap). From the picture, it could also work with an easy summer dress. A tunic and leggings would be a good bet also. images: clubmonaco.com

I’m a Moon Apparel Ambassador + 20% off the Ottoman Dress

This seems to be the year of starring in ad campaigns for me which is pretty freaking awesome. Earlier in the spring, I was in the MasterCard Stylicity campaign and now for fall its Moon Apparel. They have gathered some of their favourite Canadian bloggers to show how we incorporate Moon Apparel into our wardrobes. Like the Stylicity campaign, this is a paid gig. Gotta love feeling like a working model 🙂 In celebration of individual street style, MOON Apparel has partnered with 10 Canadian fashion bloggers in five cities across the country. The bloggers were specially selected by Mimran Group Inc. to become members of an ambassador program set to launch October 8th 2012. The bloggers were challenged to bring their best fashion flair forward by integrating their individual style with clothing pieces from the fall 2012 MOON collection and accessories from their existing wardrobe to create seasonal fashion looks. Captured on the streets of their cities, the bloggers turned the lenses on themselves to shoot their looks. Each ambassador will post their favourite …

Um you’re on WWD

I was in meetings all morning and when I finally returned to my desk my twitter replies were blowing up. Something is up, I thought to myself, I haven’t even tweeted yet. Turns out WWD did a street style post for LG Fashion Week and I was snapped with my friend Caroline Shaheed. The title of this post was the best email subject line I received all day. It best represents the shock of finding out. Can you say freaking the fuck out! I’m stunned by this and doing a little happy dance. It’s silly but I have to admit I totally love this. All the shots are stealthy ones, I love it. I remember photographer James Lourenco taking our photo as we walked but didn’t think anything of it at the time. I’m so happy I’m not carrying a Starbucks coffee cup in this shot, ha ha. You can see the rest of the street style shots from LG Fashion Week at They Are Wearing: Toronto – EyeScoop on WWD.com. This outfit also landed …

Philip Sparks Fall Winter 2011 – 2012

The week before the official LG Fashion Week is always getting bigger and better. The Fall Winter 2011 – 2012 edition was packed with big names and a comeback. I dubbed the week Toronto Extended Fashion Week a few seasons back but it seems that Rogue Fashion Week has cemented itself as the name. I like it. Philip Sparks Fall Winter 2011 – 2012 kicked things off. Philip asked me participate in the show by taking photos of the action backstage and beyond. Olympus Canada sponsored the Philip Sparks fall winter 2011 – 2012 show so each insider was handed a new Olympus PEN E-PL2. (You can check out the photos on the Olympus Canada facebook page.) Regular readers know I’m a fan of the E-PL1 and it has taken many shots I’ve posted on this site. I was itching to play with the E-PL2. Philip Sparks fall winter was all about Canadian winter and activities like skating, skiing and tobogganing. The collection wasn’t new to me. I saw it in the various stages of …

Seventy Seven by Kim Newport-Mimran

Seventy Seven is the flagship store for Pink Tartan by Kimberley Newport-Mimran. The shop featured the Pink Tartan collection and a selection of items that complement the line and represent the Pink Tartan lifestyle. The store is located in Yorkville and has taken over a historic Georgian building. The historic Georgian gem was built in 1837, and since 1926 it housed the antique treasure trove The Paisley Shop. The space has been redesigned by inter-nationally acclaimed designer Diego Burdi of Burdifilek (W hotels Atlanta, The Thompson residences presentation centre Toronto, the Club Monaco flagship in New York City). “It is beautiful and white, with light herringbone floors and modern panelling,” says Newport-Mimran, who wanted the shop to reflect the homes she shares in Toronto and New York with her husband, Joe Mimran, and family. “We have mixed modern classics with vintage pieces.” Context was the point for her first foray into retail under her own label, an opportunity to showcase the full Pink Tartan lifestyle. I went to the media preview a few days before …

LAX Diaries – Day 2

My first full day in California started with a trip to Rodeo Drive. It seems pretty fitting that my first sightseeing trip in LA would be its luxury centre. The actual road is pretty short but the surrounding blocks have other high-end and moderately priced clothing shops like Roots, Club Monaco and Gap. There were high-end stores I would have never expected to see like Harry Winston. We walked in and took at look at the celeb worn jewels but didn’t walk past the burly security guard who watched over the area where the sales staff where. I didn’t go into a lot of stores as I was a bit overwhelmed with the options. LA is a huge tourist town and I always find it funny to see people taking pictures at some cheesy Rodeo Drive landmark like a sign or water fountain. This happened everywhere, It’s that movie influence and one of the few things I find distasteful about LA. Most of the stores where fairly plain-looking. It seemed only the Prada store lived …

Yorkdale Style Challenge

My twitter followers saw posts about Danielle Meder and I at Yorkdale last week. I was playing Ms Stylist. Danielle was my guinea pig for the Yorkdale Style Challenge. I received an email from Briar with Edelman with the offer to participate in the Yorkdale Style Challenge. I accepted and decided to play fairy godmother to Danielle. We met with Mina Cisternino, head of Yorkdale Wardrobe Planning and Personal Shopping. Yorkdale offers free Wardrobe planning and personal shopping services to customers of the mall.. The service is 2 hours long and one of the four fashion experts will help you with your fashion related needs. You can sign up on the Yorkdale website. I recieved $500 in Yorkdale gift certificates. I came into this challenge with a plan for Danielle. I wanted to push her boundaries and heels were part of this equation. I envisioned a pencil skirt, a white button up shirt and killer heels. It would be opposite to Danielle’s normal casual style. I was running the show here, Ha. We were in …

Ask a Geek: Places to buy tights in Toronto – Updated December 26, 2009

I want – I got reader Valerie commented on the post Fashion Trends 2009: i liked the link about tights. can you recommend places to buy them? (not online) The link Valerie is referring to is Tightsplease Autumn/Winter Hosiery Trends for 2008/09. In Toronto/GTA your best bets are: H&M – Eaton Center is the only H&M I’ve seen with hosiery. Legs Beautiful – various locations Holt Renfrew – Bloor Street is probably your best bet Wolford – Yorkville American Apparel – various locations The Pantyhose Shop Recently Club Monaco has fashion tights for sale If you are willing to go to Niagara there is the Phantom Outlet Click Klak – Various locations The Bay – Various location Accessity – Yorkville I tend to troll Winner’s also, sometimes you can find some good deals. Finding cool tights in Toronto unfortunately takes time. EDIT: A note about H&M, if you see tights you like, buy in bulk. They are cheap and don’t last very long and their colours and styles rotate a lot, so a favourite colour …

Have you been in H&M recently…

I have a real hate on for the spring merchandise in H&M recently. It’s terrible in there. I’m amazed at how awful everything is. Mind you I’m not impressed with Zara or Club Monaco right now either, but there are still some decent pieces in those stores. They are actually attempting to follow the trends for the season for people to purchase. I can’t tell what trends H&M are going for at all. This is Dallas tshirt has made me write off H&M this season. It’s offends all my fashion sensibilities and I pray I never see it on the streets.

Better in theory

I love the new spring 2007 coats at Club Monaco. First they came in black and khaki with wide cropped sleeves. They look amazing on the mannequin. Then I spotted the slicker version. Grey patent, this would be a standout coat. Unfortunately, I realized that I couldn’t pull it off. I put this coat on and it looked like a big plastic bag wrapped around me. Sigh, no patent jackets for me. 🙁 The black one was okay, but looked much better on the mannequin.
