D&G Ready to Wear – Fall 2010

The D&G Fall 2010 collection felt like a Dsquared2 show. It seemed the knits were something I would expect from the Canadian duo. There are some great knits for fall 2010. I even love the knit jumpsuits and rompers. I don’t understand the concept of short knits in winter but I’m loving it. These guys know how to work a theme in a collection. D&G puts out collections that don’t waiver at all. I admire them for it. images: thefashionspot.com

MyTagalongs Jewellery Sac

geekiviews: MyTagalongs Jewellery Sac

I get sent things from MyTagalongs every once in awhile. I’ve talked about their products previously on I want – I got. To be honest, I wonder why some of their products exist and then I see gems like the Airborne Refillables, disposable underwear and Not-Your Bag Tags (I used these when going to India). I’ve changed my mind about Mytagalongs now and it took one product to do it, the Jewelry Sac. Light, water-resistant nylon carry-o jewelry sac keeps valuables snug and secure with center compartment for neck-laces, bracelets and 8 inside pockets for rings and earrings. This is the most genius product ever. I’m always looking for a way to store my jewellery when traveling. This is the perfect option. It keeps you from over packing too. The sac is $14 and can be purchased online. There are many retailers in Ontario that carry MyTagalongs, check the website for details.

Marc Le Bihan Spring 2010

I’m loving the Spring 2010 collection from Marc Le Bihan. It’s a bit gothic and I love the boots as a styling prop. It’s a great contrast of girly clothing and the masculine hard boot. No retailers in Canada for this Paris based designer, but there are a few in the US. images: marc-lebihan.com

A Rxmance Tshirt

i got: A Rxmance Tshirt

I got this Rxmance Tshirt at Holt Renfrew the other day. It’s a men’s medium shirt. They didn’t have a small available so I decided I could wear as a dress if I wanted. Just slap a belt on it. So I bought it. I absolutely adore the print and I knew if I didn’t own it I would regret it. images: blackbirdballard.com

Rose Cordero in Vogue Paris March 2010

A little over a year ago frillr.com tipped me off about Rose Codero. I was immediately taken that I wrote a post called simply, Rose Cordero. I hoped to see lots of her in FW10. I’m getting my wish. What a year you’ve had Rose, I love seeing you around. The editorial and cover from Vogue Paris are stunning. You can see the full editorial on models.com. images: models.com

Maria Grachvogel Ready to Wear - Fall 2010

Maria Grachvogel Ready to Wear – Fall 2010

It was the prints that attracted me to Maria Grachvogel Fall 2010 collection.  They remind me of the sea, sky and mountains. Maria started her line in 1994 and has been showing at London Fashion week since.  She shuns traditional techniques and doesn’t use fit models but real people.  Sizes run from 2 – 20 and she designs so that the garments flatter all sizes. Maria Grachvogel hand paints each design which is then digitally printed on the fabric. images: nymag.com

Converse Music Collection Spring 2010

Converse Music Collection for Spring 2010 brings us Blondie and The Clash. The Music Collection are “sneakers inspired by iconic bands who defined what it means to rock.” The Blondie styles are made for women. I’m a fan of The Clash so I was super excited about their offerings. The white leather London Calling chucks are amazing. I ended up getting the red skull and bones Hi Tops thanks to the kind folks at Converse. I can’t wait till the weather is nicer so I can wear them.  I seem to be amazing a little Chuck Taylor collection at home, this pair will be number four.  The others were purchased by myself and not gifts, I love my Chuck Taylors. Jeremy Laing Fall Winter 201 Inspiration

Jeremy Laing Ready To Wear – Fall 2010

Jeremy Laing debuts fur and knits for his Fall 2010 collection.  I’m in love.  The huge waffle knit looks so cosy and warm.  I love the fur hoods and snoods.  I can see these being a hot item for fall, especially with the unusual treatment and colours. Beaver, raccoon, and muskrat pelts come from sustainably hunted animals in Canada. Jeremy was inspired by: “Elements of the Canadian northwest coast: from the curvilinear style of Native American graphics appearing on totems, boxes and midcentury art prints to the rich colors and textures of the redwood forest.” This collection was an exploration of texture and surface.  Most elements of this collection I loved but I did feel that it was a little all over the place.  I’m on the fence with what I call the sky print (it looks like a night sky full of stars).  I want to see it in person or on video because I think the camera isn’t doing it justice. Proenza Schouler Ready to Wear - Fall 2010

Proenza Schouler Ready to Wear – Fall 2010

The Proenza Schouler fall 2010 show was fun. It had the bumping runway music and I loved the clothing. It was very preppy and collegiate in a way. The graffiti print denim, a collaboration with J Brand, gave the preppy a bit of an edge. The shoes however were beyond stupid and ugly. I wondering why everyone walked so funny during the show. It’s because of these Completely, totally, completely ugly! images: style.com

Final Fashion Paper Doll – Rodarte Fall 2010

Final Fashion Paper Doll – Rodarte Fall 2010

Danielle from Final Fashion is doing paper dolls again. She’s expanded from Toronto and is taking the experience to the international fashion scene. First up is a final fashion paper doll for Rodarte Fall 2010. I didn’t care much for the Rodarte collection but I really did love their white gown finale. Danielle’s rendition is beautiful. Be sure to watch Final Fashion Paper Dolls page to see more updates. I know she’s working on Jeremy Laing. She will be selling prints via the Final Fashion Etsy shop.

Theda by Anita Quansah, exclusively for Shrimpton Couture

i want: Jewellery by Anita Quansah, exclusively for Shrimpton Couture

Trolling Shrimption Couture is always fun. I have been hearing about Anita Quansah’s jewellery for the last week so I had to check it out. She also shares my name and I’m totally curious. Rasia by Anita Quansah This silver tone multi chain neckpiece features vintage faux pearl mixed with silver and gunmetal chains. An oval metal tone faceted bead and clear facet stone charm have been wrapped around rows of a cascading ring design. Four large purple floral embellishment and 2 silk handmade corsage where then added, all held in place with 2 silver tone pin’s from a vintage kilt! As you can see Anita’s jewellery is very ornate and large. They are an uber statement piece so you’d need to wear simple silhouettes and neutral colours with these. They look like fun. Hera by Anita Quansah Hera is a spectacular creation that features cascading gun metal chains mixed with rhinestones and grey, black & gold faceted beads, all arranged in a mesh design, that drapes loosely like a collar around the neck. Dean and Dan do the Olympics

We were so relieved to find out that Dean and Dan of DSQUARED2 only dressed the some of the headlining talent for the Opening Ceremonies.  Some of those costumes were just flat out bad. Here’s a breakdown with cute sketches of what Dean and Dan put together. Measha’s gown was my favourite of the bunch.  I didn’t expect something like this from DSQUARED2.  She also wore jewellery from the Measha Collection by Mindham Fine Jewellery.  I love the colours and that they aren’t your standard diamonds. Here’s the breakdown of that beautiful collection Bracelet – Eight stone 123ct citrine “Wilma” bracelet set in 18ct yellow gold – $12,690 Ring – 116.38ct citrine ring containing 1.33ct diamonds set in 18ct white gold – $11,030 Necklace- 41ct peridot and 232.62ct prasiolite neck collar set in 18ct yellow gold – $14,200 Ear Pendants – Matched pear shape 36.15ct golden beryl ear pendants containing 1.1ct diamonds set in 18ct yellow gold – $28,400 I really, really wish Dean and Dan dressed KD Lang, that would have been amazing. Hexa by Kuho Ready to Wear – Fall 2010

Hexa by Kuho designer, Kuho Jung is Korean and he showed in New York for Fall 2010. He called his collection,’Talpi’ which translates from Korean as ‘ecdysis’ – “the moulting of skin in reptiles and amphibians, although the term can be used ‘to represent attempts to shed our outer skins and reemerge as spiritually more perfect’.” I very intrigued by the shapes in the collection.  Some of it looks very restrictive, but that doesn’t deter my desire to want to wear it. Nick Knight from ShowStudio created a video for the Hexa by Kuho Fall 2010 collection.  Follow the ShowStudio link as I can’t embed.  Oh ShowStudio I wish you would allow embedding of your wonderful videos. images: the Fashion Spot

i want: Louis Vuitton Spring 2010 Accessories

Something is very wrong with me, I like some of the handbag offering from Louis Vuitton this season. I’m usually someone that only likes the Damier Azur canvas. I don’t know, maybe it was the music from the Spring 2010 show or the colours, but some of these bags are looking good. Forget about the price for a moment as they are astronomical and just look at the fun design. I think it’s the colour schemes that gets me. The colours are vibrant and well matched. images: nitrolicious.com

Marni x Current Elliot Fall 2010

Marni x Current Elliot Fall 2010

Marni and Current Elliot have teamed up for denim collaboration for Fall 2010. Marni designer, Consuelo Castiglioni, was given free reign to design denim that fit with the Marni aesthetic. This is her first denim line Dyes and washes span from light azure to indigo and from faded to saturated. A few styles will be sold with a black cotton belt that Castiglioni likes knotted as a ribbon. Other details include cloth borders, either press studded or piped in leather. Retail prices for the Marni-Current Elliott jeans range from $250 to $500 and will be carried in Marni stores starting in June. This denim gives me visions of chunky boots and rolled up cuffs. I’d pair them with an oversized tshirt and my Final Fashion docs or any of the shorter boots in my closet. via WWD.com images: WWD.com
