  • I could not be more in love with this line. All the silky fabrics and almost over-the-top glam? So fantastic.

  • to each their own I guess. I found it boring and safe. If I was looking for a dress for an event I wouldn’t want to wear most of the stuff presented. The white ruffle dress and high waisted white pants are the exception. the YSL attempts are admirable but they need to be better executed.

hmmm…one negative review out of everything isn’t so bad. Being tied for the highest rating ever (3.5 out of 4 stars) from David Livingston isn’t too shabby either. And don’t worry about wearing the dresses for an event; they’re all worn out. I guess to most, “boring and safe” works.

  • I don’t speak for anyone but myself and that voice certainly isn’t the everywoman’s voice.

Boring and Safe does work for most people.

    I’m not one of them.

I’m a freak and damn proud of it.

haha. well I definitely don’t dress freaks.

  • WTF

OK… So I am utterly dissapointed at Carlie’s response to your posts, and think that it is actually quite childish and digusting. Carlie… If you don’t ever want a bad review, or can’t take criticism YOU ARE IN THE WRONG INDUSTRY!!! Fashion is about creating beautiful clothes, but you can’t please everyone. If you take every small comment this much to heart, then you will NEVER make it in the fashion world.
Take negative comments with a grain of salt. I have to say… Personally I didn’t like your stuff either. I think you have some mad skills, but they didn’t show up in this collection. I found you collection to be safe. Carlie hopefully by next season you will grow up and just do what makes you happy, no matter WHAT anyone has to say.

  • I don’t think this really qualifies as a review – Anita is just sharing her opinion, on her blog, it is her prerogative to do so.

It is hard to do, but somehow creatives have to learn to separate their work from themselves; not everything we create is a thing of genius and you won’t always be showered with praise. The important thing is to put it out there. Also, sometimes you can learn a thing or two from a response to your work, but if you try to please everyone you will end up playing it too safe and your work won’t be remarkable. Carlie, if your collections provoke feelings of any kind, you are on the right track.

  • Unless the feeling is boredom. Then you’re doomed.

    in response to wtf…

    wtf?

I don’t know why I came across as “taking criticism to heart” in my post…That wasn’t the intention. It was a friendly argument of difference in opinion; (friendly…hence myself stating my case and then the “haha”). Actually, I value the criticism very much; because it is an opinion with substance and therefore I can respect it. I think of it as educational and at the very least, entertaining. Your post on the other hand, was based on some fabrication in you mind about my character.

Friendly…and yet in response, you made some heavy assumptions. Assumptions such as: 1) I was trying to please everyone and NOT myself. 2) That I’m taking every small comment to heart and will therefore NEVER make it. and 3) That I can’t take criticism…despite being dragged on the ground in various public displays of criticism.

    How dare you.

  • WTF

Dear Carlie,This is the problem with written responses. My assumptions were based on what I felt was the tone of your message to a good friend of mine Geekigirl. If you really didn’t care about pleasing everyone, then why even bother posting a reply. I think that in hindsight you are saying what you are saying now, but at the time you hurt by geekigirl’s comments. In the end if you are happy with what you are producing, then good for you. I am entitled to my opinion and interpretation of your comments though, so the fact that you are chastizing me for that is again a reflection of your insecurities. Carlie good luck with everything… as long as you enjoy what you are doing, then screw everyone else. BTW…. “I don’t dress freaks????” Yeah, sure you were just getting into a “friendly argument”. LOL…. That sounds like such a pleasant comment…. even though geekigirl reffered to herself as a freak, doesn’t mean you have any right to call her that!!!

  • I like it better when the designers don’t respond to my thoughts.

Do you this with everyone that doesn’t like your clothing?

  • I don’t remember reading many designers trash talking with their critics often and you ain’t no Marc Jacobs

  • Carlie, don’t respond to WTF.
