i want…

Boots by Chanel I noticed these boots browsing the Chanel Spring 06 couture show pictures . I have no idea why I am drawn to these. They are just so “smart” looking. Classic and clean. I like strange shoes. Thank god I’ll never be able to afford them, then I don’t have to worry about what I would wear with them. Take a look at the pictures from the Chanel couture show, there are some beautiful pieces.

J’Adore Dior

The Dior Couture fashion show would have been fantastic to see in person. Pure spectacle fashion, love it!!!! The Grumpy Owl had some classic quotes as he viewed the show. One would think that Dior had robbed Satan’s closet to procure the clothing in his most recent celebration of cocaine, bitchery and pure decadence. Final Fashion and coolchiq also share their views. In other news… I got a shout out on FAD. That made me happy because Lera’s blog is the shit. Yes, I’m kinda nerdy. Edit: There is a great conversation about the Dior couture show on Final Fashion. I personally ignored whatever The Pirate had to say about the collection and just enjoyed the clothes. I guess I just can’t take anything that he says seriously. He does bring a smile to my face, especially when it involves commentary from The Manolo.

Voting

I usually stick to fashion posts. However, I had a laugh voting today. I had no idea how many different and varied candidates I had to choose from. Communist – Miguel Figueroa Action – Wendy Forrest Green – Mark O’Brien NDP – Gord Perks Conservative – Theresa Rodrigues Liberal – Mario Silva Marxist-Leninist – Sarah Thompson I really wish I had my camera, but I’m pretty sure that would be a federal offence.

Nike & Goodfoot presents Joga Bonito

Last night I attended a party at Goodfoot. A really cool Joga Bonito installation was done by Virus. There was also an advanced preview of Nike’s Motion Capture Court Force. Yes, it was a shoe opening, LOL. Free booze and nibbles though. I spent most of my time looking at people’s shoes. Let me tell you there was a lot nice sneakers in the place. Nike was the dominate shoe of choice. It was also funny to see grown men get upset when they noticed someone else wearing their shoes or choice accessory of the night. LOL, guys can be just as bad as chicks. Now on to the shoes. I’ve mentioned that I’m not much of a Nike fan. I like some of their shoes in theory, but would never purchase them. The new Motion Capture Court Force shoes are nice, my favourite being the black pair. I just love the details on the laces. You can view more about the shoes here and here. Edit: I found an article in Sneaker Freaker magazine …

Canadian supplier of Hunter Wellington Boots

EDIT: Oct 24, 2009 Wellingtons are easy to find in the city now. See the Hunter Wellingtons in Toronto post. I received a comment about the availability of Hunter Wellingtons in Toronto. I decided to email Hunter of Scotland Ltd to find out. I figured there would not be many Canadian distributors. I actually expected there to be none. I was wrong there is one. The London Trading Post is located in Bobcaygeon, Ontario. They do have an ecommerce website, so it’s possible to order some. So, while there are no local retailers there is somewhere where you can purchase authentic Hunter Wellingtons in Canada (it’s damn pricey otherwise). London Trading Post 189 County Road 49, R.R.#3 Bobcaygeon, ON K0M 1A0 phone: 705.738.1956 fax: 705.738.1956 Hunter Wellington History If you are interested here is a link to the size guide.

A Kim White Handbag 1974 AMC -Brown & Orange Molecular Leather Trim Grommet Bag I discovered these bags while looking at Sustainable Style. Kim White Handbags are the perfect bag: functional, stylish and comfortable, made in the most amazing fabrics known to man. Why are Kim White Handbags so special? Made from vintage automotive fabrics, Kim White uses dead stock never-used textiles intended for use in American automobiles: cars, trucks and vans. She fortuitously unearthed an entire warehouse of automotive fabric, which may be the last existing stock anywhere in the US, and she is the sole owner of these amazing textiles. Each Kim White Handbag is tagged with the year and make of the fabric, so you know exactly what car your bag comes from (i.e.: 1983 Camaro or a 1978 Ford Mustang). Kim White Handbags specializes in automotive fabrics from the 1970’s and 1980’s, when color was de rigueur in the automotive industry. (source)

i want: Rainboots

Blue Tweed Wellington Boots The nasty weather in T.O has me thinking about Wellies again. I’ve talked about Wellies before on I want – I got. They were really cool, but unfortunately an art project. Toile Wellington Boots These printed ones by Tamara Henriques are very nice, but I love the classic black. For you girlie girls they have many kitten heel rain boots like this n Canada you can purchase them at Forty Mile Creek. They don’t have the complete collection, but more choice than other online retailers I checked. via Lifestyle Navigator

i got…(Thinking of you)

Thinking of you by Dan Brown Sam Brown is the comic artist behind Exploding Dog. His hi my name is sam, i draw pictures, from your titles. send me a title, or any thing else you want to talk to me about A good friend of mine sent me an autographed copy of Thinking of You. It was a very cool gift. Thinking of you is a hardcover book made for the fifth year of the explodingdog website. It contains over 140 full colour pictures selected from the last five years of explodingdog. Sam Brown’s work is like nothing I’ve seen before, it works to my sense of humour, perhaps not to others. Some of my favourites are: were all gonna die MAXIMUM DESTRUCTION and so it begins trust me, it’s going to be ok Sam Brown came to Toronto this summer for The Toronto Comic Arts Festival. I got to meet him briefly and got him to sign my copy of Amazing Rain. Hopefully, he will be back again in 2006. For you Canadian …

i got… (Lip Venom)

Lip Venom by DuWop Lip Venom is a spicy, tingly gloss that enhances the natural color and shape of the lips by increasing circulation with a blend of essential oils including cinnamon and ginger. The result: shiny, bee-stung lips.(source) This is not a new purchase, but I like the stuff so it’s a post. I ordered a sample from the company before I bit the bullet. I had read in the Red Flag Deals forums that they sent samples. I was hooked. I also have the Windflower Venom Gloss. For those freaking about the spicy part of this, they do have a Lip Venom Lite version which isn’t as powerful and not as fun. Sephora which is suppose to be the beauty superstore only carries the Lip Venom. Holt Renfrew on the other hand carries the whole DuWop lineup. Zara Home

Seems like Zara is the in Home Decor business too. I wonder how long it will take them to get to Canada? They only have a shops in Mexico on the Americas front. Some of the items are pretty but I wonder how well constructed the stuff is. Zara Home website via LifeStyle Navigator [tags]Zara, home decor, furniture[/tags]

Boo urns

I have a habit of saying boo urns sometimes. It’s a fun word. If you don’t know the meaning then see here. I noticed in my stats that I’ve gotten hits for this term. Apparently there is a t-shirt by this company called Glarkware. So for all of you that are looking for the boo urns tshirt, here you go.

i want…

YSL Heels S/S 2006 I love these shoes even though I would never be able to afford them. Apparently chunky heels and platforms are back for S/S 2006. I’m not much of a trend shopper, I tend to buy things to last most than a season. Here’s the non-slingback version. Gorgeous. The model’s hairy legs gave me a chuckle πŸ˜€ via Style.com

Buying organic read this

I like organic food. I find that it’s much tastier. However the dent in the wallet isn’t that fun. This report by people at Consumers Reports tells you when it’s best to spend the extra money (if you have it of course). Ya it’s off topic, but I thought it was worth spreading the word. [tags]organic, shopping, food[/tags]

i got…(Oddzballz)

Oddzballz I bought the purple one, its name is Slupeez. These cute little cell phone charms are made by the talented Elsa Kawai. I first saw them in early December and ordered one without hesitation. They are all handmade and no two are exactly alike (just like high priced denim guys!). While they are listed as cell phone charms, I plan on using mine as a bag charm. They would be good on a keychain also. The First OddzBallz Why the name?? Because they are odd and round like a ball! The OddzBallz are the offspring of my fantasy and the first OddzBallz saw the face of this earth on a warm summer day in 2005 when I did some random drawings in my sketchbook, while waiting for my flight to Providence, RI. My brain suddenly had an inspiration and my hands produced a funny creature, which turned out to be the prototype OddBeez character. I wanted OddBeez to have a body & soul, so I gave him a body using clay materials. I then …

Tano Handbag retailers in Canada

I’ve noticed that I get a lot of hits for Tano handbags. I thought I would post the Canadian retailers for those that want to know. It would be a good idea to inquire with each store as to their availability. You can also purchase Tano bags online at Musthavebag.com (I got it right this time πŸ˜‰ ). I opened my email after work today and I just about had a heart attack! Threadless has hoodies now! HOODIES, people, HOODIES. Best of all they have my all time favourite t-shirt printed as a hoodie. Damn Scientists I placed an order and I’ll be eagerly waiting for it to arrive. The small sizes went damn quick. The email arrived at 5:55pm. I placed my order at 7:30P.M. and by that time they were gone. Boo urns. There were some other styles that you can view here: Pandamonium Radios – I really like this one too!!! Afternoon Delight MP(3)
