Rose Cordero

Rose Cordero People say this girl (and I mean girl, she’s 16) is going to be the next thing. She’s signed to Supreme Model Management. I love her look and I hope to see her all over the place for FW10. via frillr.com image: Shameer Khan Photography: Rose Cordero

Felipe Oliveira Baptista Haute Couture – Spring Summer 2009

Felipe Oliveira Baptista Haute Couture – Spring Summer 2009 I check out Felipe Oliveira Baptista’s collections every season but this year his presentation and standout jackets caught my eye. There is also a futurist aspect to the clothing. I’m also enjoying the urban uniform vibe his clothing portrays. images: Felipe Oliveira Baptista Haute Couture S/S 09 – the Fashion Spot.

Me and the Alexander McQueen Striped column dress

I first salivated over the Alexander McQueen Striped column dress during the Mens Spring Summer 2009 show. Soon afterwards, Net-a-Porter carried the dress and I went crazy again as they had some great shots of the dress. Well, I finally tried on a variant of the dress at Holt Renfrew Bloor Street. Of course I had to take a couple sneaky photos in the changeroom. It’s stunning, but it’s a shame this version missing the statement shoulder. This dress fits like a dream and feels like nothing on. It’s a serious curve hugging dress. I’m in love. However, it’s $1500!!!! A girl can dream though.

CupcakeCamp Toronto

On Sunday I attended CupcakeCamp Toronto. It was a cupcake extravaganza and many different cupcakes were to be had for the over 400 people that passed through LabSpace. At the beginning it looked like getting Cupcakes would be hard, but eventually the crowd became more manageable and it was easy to get cupcakes.

Alexander Wang on his Spring 2009 Collection at Saks.com

One of my peeps at Saks sent me a link to this video they had made for the Alexander Wang Spring 2009 Collection at Saks.com. In this video, Alexander talks about the inspiration for the designs and a model stands there doing what she does best in said design. I find it really interesting as I love to know what the backstory to each piece is. I’m not one to watch a lot video but I think this works for the following reasons: it’s short and the designer is talking about pieces that are available at the retailer which allows it to be more focused and relevant. It gives the consumer more information about the collection and they now know what is available in the store/online shop.

Fashion blog karma – geekigirl

My friend, Danielle of Final Fashion, decided to profile me and her first post in a series called fashion blog karma. It’s like a mini interview and Danielle says some very kind things about me. Fashion Blog Karma singles out a fellow fashion blogger for a little link love and a couple questions. When I was looking for someone to feature for my first karma post it was hard to decide; and I only had one day to throw it together. The answer came to me with a little link love – Anita (aka geekigirl) at I want – I got just posted her year-end wrapup with a little shout out for me. She’s done a lot of shout-outs for me (including my first ever blog interview at blogTO), and she commissioned a fashion figure, so its about time I sent a little bit of karma her way. Phi Spring Summer 2009 – Ad Campaign

There is something about this campaign for the Phi Spring Summer 2009 collection that I really like. I get a 20s vibe from the setting. For some reason the background colour reminds me of The Great Gatsby. I also am a fan of the dark haired model, Kinga. She was also in the Balenciaga Spring Summer 2009 ad campaign. Oh ya, this is another Meisel joint. the Fashion Spot

Teck Suite of Galleries and Light & Stone: Gems from the Collection of Michael Scott

Teck Suite of Galleries and Light & Stone: Gems from the Collection of Michael Scott is now open at the Royal Ontario Museum. This by far is my favouite collection. I had to be kicked out of the gallery when it was over because I was wandering around gawking so much. Teck Suite of Galleries: Earth’s Treasures showcases the Royal Ontario Museum’s exceptional specimens of minerals, gems, rocks and meteorites, a collection among the finest in North America. The 6,900 square-foot combined gallery space fills the length of the Weston Family Wing on Level 2 and is divided into the Vale Inco Limited Gallery of Minerals, the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame Gallery and the Gallery of Gems and Gold. The fascinating displays are contextualized and illuminated by over 40 interactive touch stations, compelling video exhibits and engrossing information on Canada’s mining industry.
