geekiviews: L’Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes

I tend to avoid mascara that requires two products to work. Too time consuming and I think that it’s a bit of overkill. The product should deliver results without the white base coat first.

I managed to score myself a sample of the soon to be released L’Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes. A nourishing and lengthening mascara. Canadians will be able to purchase this mascara in January of 2009. It was the official mascara for L’Oreal Fashion Week Spring 2009.

Here’s the corporate speak

Unlike traditional mascaras that paint or coat your lashes with mascara formula, Double Extend® Beauty Tubesâ„¢ Technology forms lash-extending tubes that firmly attach to the tip of your lashes. These tubes visibly lengthen your lashes up to 80%, and provide excellent wear, as they will not run, smudge, clump or flake all day. The beauty tubes remove easily from lashes with just water – no makeup remover or rubbing necessary. The ultra-nourishing patented base coat with Ceramide R nourishes lashes, and provides a unique layer of protection that prepares lashes for Beauty Tubes.

I’m interested in seeing how other mascaras measure up against my favourite oscillating mascara from Lancôme. They share a parent company. So far the only mascara I like better is other Lancôme brands. HYPNÔSE still works like a dream. I also like the Dior mascaras. They also give an effect I desire.

This mascara just doesn’t give me what I want The base is hard to cover up with the top coat. It didn’t separate very well at all and my lashes clumped together. I don’t use a lash curler that often so I depended on the product to do that work for me. It didn’t lengthen to the degree it claimed. I get much better lengthen from my Lancôme products and this is suppose to be a lengthening product.

I guess I should remember price points. (I still wouldn’t waste my money). Lancôme is the best in the biz when it comes to mascara and the R&D that goes into one of those tubes is much more significant that the Double Extension Beauty Tubes.

Well this product won’t be part of my makeup routine. My technique isn’t great so I’m willing to spend for results
