Christian Dior Secret Garden – Versailles Videos

Met my fashion kryptonite with Dior using Depeche Mode as the music for their Secret Garden – Versailles video series. May 2012 – Secret Garden – Versailles A film by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, starring Daria Strokus, Melissa Stasiuk and Xiao Wen Ju in La Galeries Des Glaces – Château de Versailles. Depeche Mode: ‘Enjoy the Silence’ June 2013 – Secret Garden – Versailles The Château de Versailles, emblem of Dior’s tradition, hosts a new tale which brings to life the Dior Fall 2013 collection. The chateau and its park abound with well-kept secrets. The heart of the royal land conceals an extraordinary world of poetry and color: in the depth of its mysterious woods a secret garden blooms out of sight, inhabited by flower-women. From the Grand Trianon to the enchanted forest, Versailles becomes the picturesque backdrop of a dreamlike tale. Depeche Mode – Behind the Wheel

Christian Dior Fall Winter 2013 – 2014 Ad Campaign

I’m lucky this season for my favourite models headlining campaigns this season. Mariacarla Boscono is one of the stars of the Christian Dior Fall Winter 2013 – 2014 Ad Campaign. I’m not big on the whole campaign so I’ve only included the two I like. Model: Mariacarla Boscono, Daria Strokous Photographer: Willy Vanderperre images: thefashionspot.com

Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall – Winter 2013 – 2014

The Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall – Winter 2013 – 2014 collection made me sit up and take notice this year. No it wasn’t because of the clothing, it was the models. The Black Models. Like, finally. Dior has been incredibly lily white since Raf Simons took over. It was a very different to John Galliano’s way of doing things that was a bit more inclusive. Raf isn’t off the hook and I’m not applauding Dior for anything. I’m just happy to look at these beautiful women. Like, Yasmin walked the damn show. That’s awesome. You can watch the Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall – Winter 2013 – 2014 fashion show below. I liked a lot of the clothing too and you can see the rest of the photos for the Christian Dior Haute Couture Fall – Winter 2013 – 2014 collection on Style.com

I want – I got visits CBC’s In the Kitchen with Stefano Faita

You don’t say no to the photographer that put you on the webpages of Women’s Wear Daily. So when the lovely James Teen offered me a tiny bit of Kitchen TV stardom I said yes, yes and yes. The show James works on is called CBC’s In the Kitchen with Stefano Faita. You may have seen it. Me, I never heard of it before. I didn’t even bother to Google it after I accepted. I went on my merry little way until a friend mentioned that Stefano, the host was pretty hot. Not going to lie, I hit up Google immediately after that nugget of information. Ha. The episode was called Stefano’s Restaurant-Style Dishes and it originally aired on November 6, 2012. I heard through twitter about it, ha. Ha ha. I just got informed that my appearance on @cbcinthekitchen is on TV right now!!! — Anita (@geekigirl) November 6, 2012 @geekigirl nice work! It was great to have you on our show and you can watch the episodelater here: ow.ly/f4JqC #iksf — In The …

Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring Summer 2013

The Christian Dior Haute Couture Spring Summer 2013 collection sealed the deal. I’m drinking the Raf Simons at Dior koolaid and it’s delicious. This collection is a stroll through the gardens. Think the opposite of Galliano’s floral display of Fall 2010. This is subtle and wearable. The devil is in the details in this couture collection. I even love the shoes even though they look completely uncomfortable. I’m still trying to figure out the shoe tight business. Are they like thigh highs with a shoe attached. They look amazing regardless of construction. The video is out and it’s in HD. Everything about this is beautiful and it just brought such a smile to my face. Pat McGrath’s crystal lips was the cherry on top of this collection. The detail shots give you an idea of the incredible work by the atelier under Raf’s direction. I love these gold and emerald heels. images: style.com

Secret Garden – Versailles by Dior

The easiest way to get me to jump back on that fashion bandwagon is to use Depeche Mode’s Enjoy the Silence in your fashion video. Oh, hello there Dior. I think it’s love at first sight again! ‘Secret Garden – Versailles’ A film by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin, starring Daria Strokus, Melissa Stasiuk and Xiao Wen Ju in La Galeries Des Glaces – Château de Versailles. Music by Depeche Mode: ‘Enjoy the Silence’ Thanks to Perfecto Mag for posting this Perfecto video!

New Year, New Nails

This is the first Nails post of 2012, yay! Shall we take a look at what I’ve been up to recently. After two great Shellac applications, I decided to try Gelish. They had different colours to CND and I was willing to give them a shot. My nails are on the bottom and have the tie dye effect. I loved the way they looked and the Gelish lasted a very long time. Removal was a huge bitch and my nail were splitting pretty badly. So much so that I don’t’ recommend Gelish at all. I purchased some nail polish from American brand Rescue Beauty Lounge. This yellow polish called Mellow Yellow went on very well. I can’t remember what polish I used for this but I think the thumb is YSL Midnight Blue and the digits are NARS I’m incorporating the glitter polish at lot to. I like putting it on the tips only.  I believe the thumb is YSL Midnight Blue and the digits are Butter London Blagger.  The glitter is Deborah Lippmann Boom …

i got: Fall Winter 2011 – 2012 Nail Binge: NARS, Dior, Chanel

I’ve had some fun buying some of the Fall Winter 2011 – 2012 nail polish options. NARS NARS is one of my go to nail polish brands.  It has a beautiful, slick finish and with a nice brush.  The polish wears well for me too.    I got the entire Night Series collection (Night Rider, Night Porter, Night Flight, Night Breed) because I couldn’t choose. The Night Series collection is based on the iconic NARS Night Series Eyeshadows.  I also had to have the Fall 2011 colour, Galion. Chanel I got The Oracle to pick me up the Les Jeans de Chanel colours that were limited edition for Fashion Night Out 2011.  I had Melissa from Tips Nail Bar to incorporate them into a great blue gradient manicure because I couldn’t choose just one to wear.   I love Chanel nail polish it wears very well and has staying power. Dior I saw Apparat, the new limited edition Dior Nail Lacquer for Holiday 2011 on my new favourite beauty site Temptalia.  The photos on Temptalia looked …

SHOWstudio does Spring Summer 2011 Haute Couture

The guys from SHOWstudio shoot model, Ming Xi in various iconic pieces from the Spring Summer 2011 Haute Couture collections. Designers featured include Jean Paul Gaultier, Givenchy by Riccardo Tisci, and John Galliano for Christian Dior. I’ve embedded the fashion film featuring Ming Xi here on the site but I urge you to check out the SHOWstudio site because each Haute Couture look get an in depth video treatment like the Givenchy one I posted a couple weeks ago. These videos give you an up close look at the dresses and talks about significant design details. Plus, there is an interesting interview with Ming.

Christian Dior Haute Couture – Fall 2010 – 2011

I can’t remember the last time I was excited for a Christian Dior Haute Couture collection. The fall 2010 collection has made me a believer in John Galliano again. It helps that he’s influence is a favourite of mine too, flowers. I have a bit of a flower photo taking fetish and I was delighted as soon as I saw the first look. The collection is saturated in colour and the resemblance of the clothing to flowers is undeniable. Everything is just perfect about this collection. It has enough spectacle to be interesting and the construction details are to die for. The gowns are just beautiful, however some of the models were way too thin in them. It’s especially apparent in any back shots you see. I tracked down some footage of the show so you can get a look at the clothing moving. Hopefully the full show will be available soon. View the whole collection at style.com, it’s really worth it. images: vogue.uk.com

Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2010

Christian Dior Pre-Fall 2010

Oooooh wartime Dior, I’m down. This totally feeds into my military fetish and marks the first time I’ve been interested in Dior in many years. Wow, what is pre-fall 2010 doing, first YSL and now Dior. The light baby blue ruffled dress is my favourite. Oh and I’m loving the leather. I’ve bashed Dior a fare bit on the site lately. The last time I had something positive to say was Dior Fall 2008 Couture. images: style.com

Men’s Spring 2010 Fashion Show Venues

Wallpaper.com did there seasonal post about fashion show venues. I always like seeing the photos of the venues before the people, models, photographers and clothing arrive. The Moncler venue is stunning. The models walked on the deck of the pool. I love the graffiti in venue, it was quite the contrast to the John Galliano Sprign 2010 collection. images: Wallpaper.com.

Christian Dior Haute Couture – Fall 2009

To me this collection felt half done or half assed. A lot of the looks featured no bottoms or tops. It was very bizarre. All I could think was: Is this what recession couture looks like? Did you run out of money for fabric? There were some interesting looks like this lace number. The rest, very beautiful but I was bored. However, I really loved the hats. images: Style.com

geekiviews: Diorshow Mascara

Diorshow Mascara You might remember my last run in with blue mascara. I bought the Cargo stuff in April and I promptly threw it out in the fall. I was left without for a few months and decided to give the Diorshow Mascara in Blue Azure a shot. I had received a tester of some kind of Dior mascara at a fashion event and loved it. Things I like about Diorshow The colour. It’s a great blue that’s not too bright The brush is massive It’s waterproof It doesn’t flake Things I don’t like It took 3 coats to achieve the look in the above picture It wasn’t easy putting the mascara on. You really had to wiggle that brush to get the product on the lashes. I really want Ôscillation by Lancôme to come in blue. Overall, I like the product and it produces quality results even though those results are difficult to achieve. If the Ôscillation comes out with Blue it’s all over for Diorshow; it lengthens and curls without the need of …

Fashion Show Videos Spring 2009

Yves Saint Laurent Spring 2009 Very pretty and wearable collection, however it didn’t grab me like Fall Winter 2008. Proenza Schouler Spring 2009 Didn’t change my mind about the collection too much, but props for using Skinny Puppy Alexander Wang Spring 2009 Everyone was peeing themselves over this collection in NYC Christian Dior Spring 2009 Alessandro Dell’Acqua Spring 2009 I didn’t do a dedicated post to this collection but I quite liked it. The clothing on the other hand….

Christian Dior Haute Couture – Fall-Winter 2008

John redeemed himself to me with this couture collection. Now if we can ween him off the New Look kool-aid everything will be great.
