I want – I got Holiday Gift Guide – Part 2

Yup, this gift guide madness is continuing. I’ve got three more days of I want – I got Gift Guides. You might want to take a look at Part 1 of the I want – I got Gift Guide series.

This is the part two of four in the I want – I got Gift Guide series. I have so many favourite things I wanted to include. This gift guide is very much I want – I got. You’ll see things I want, things I got and other obsessions. Some things are affordable and some aren’t but I’ve tried to mix it up. The list covers fashion, beauty, electronics, art, toys and booze. Basically, all the items on the gift guide are I want – I got approved.

So, join me the second part of this exploration of things I would love to see under my tree at Christmas.

DANIER x Greta Constantine SKIN Launch Party

Danier x Greta Constantine Skin Launch

DANIER x Greta Constantine collection is so good. I had no inside access to these designs this time around.  So, the debut of the collection at the Neubacher Shor Contemporary gallery was a complete surprise. The gallery is a beautiful space with adjustable white walls, a huge window and exposed brick. It’s a great space for hanging artwork with the high ceilings.

The six look collection ranges in price from $399 for a sleeveless bolero with exaggerated lapel to $999 for an asymmetrical, draped coat with rounded back. Key colour motifs include black, slate, eggplant, walnut, and lava, in a variety of fabrics ranging from Italian lamb leather to silky suede. As part of the capsule, Kirk and Stephen designed a contemporary take on the obi belt, a welcome addition to each look.

“We sought to find a happy medium between fashion and function; to offer silhouettes that were appealing to the eye and still flattering on a variety of different body types,” explain Kirk and Stephen.

The collection features several jacket types in leather and suede options. All the jackets came in different colour ways. There were two long jackets style:  a suede asymmetrical draped coat with a raw edge ($549) and a leather asymmetrical draped coat with rounded back ($999). The two shorter jackets include a suede asymmetrical draped coat  and an asymmetrical kimono style wrap coat ($869).  Kirk and Stephen also designed the perfect leather obi belt to go with all the garments.  Out of all the jackets, I really fell in love with the grey suede asymmetrical draped coat with a raw edge.  The short purple asymmetrical draped coat has a strong siren song too.

Rounding out the collection was a leather shift dress ($499) in slate grey, red and black options. The sleeveless Sleeveless bolero with exaggerated lapel ($349) is the perfect little topper. It’s my second favourite piece in the collection.

The high ceilings and white walls were perfect for the debut of  the DANIER x Greta Constantine SKIN ad campaign.  Long time Greta collaborator, Gabor Jurina shot the campaign.  It featured newbie model, 17-year-old Madison(Ford).

Primer by Greta Constantine Spring Summer 2011

Greta Constantine Primer Spring Summer 2011
Collaborations are the news in Canadian fashion so it’s good to see something that isn’t about one. Greta Constantine has created a capsule collection called Primer which consists t-shirts done Greta Constantine style.

Kirk Pickersgill and Stephen Wong of Greta Constantine are bringing their master drapery and attention to fit to a whole new audience. The capsule collection, aptly named Primer, serves as the base coat for a woman’s wardrobe and is to consist of both separates and dresses.

But don’t expect basics. Every piece in the collection features a subtle feminine twist like leather straps on a tank top to allow for easy belting or draped t-shirt dresses with exaggerated pocket detailings. This is all part of Stephen and Kirk’s desire to re-imagine contemporary staples.

As Stephen elaborates, “designing the collection demanded that we consider what makes a t-shirt so perfect. Fabrication, lengths, colours. While a woman may be willing to suffer through a pair of heels, comfort without looking comfortable is what we sought to achieve with Primer.”

The line, with prices ranging from $95 to $275, offers numerous options for both current clients and those who may otherwise be constrained in purchasing Greta Constantine.

“Our dream has always been to be a part of every woman’s wardrobe. This collection offers us that very opportunity,” explains Kirk. “There’s been a push in fashion, as in other industries, to further democratize or enhance accessibility. This is our contribution.”

A Greta Constantine Primer pre-capsule collection will be available at TNT The New Trend’s Hazleton Lanes location (87 Avenue Road) beginning Thursday, May 20, as part of the Canadian retailer’s 20th anniversary celebration. The pre-capsule will be available through mid-July.

DANIER x George Antonopoulos Fall Winter 2011 – 2012

Danier
The DANIER x Greta Constantine Fall Winter 2011 – 2012 collaboration was just announced but few weeks ago there was another announcement from the DANIER team.

DANIER continues their Canadian designer collaborations by announcing a partnership with renowned fashion stylist and director, George Antonopoulos. F/W 2011/12 will see a debut design capsule collection, OBJECT, sold at select DANIER retail locations across Canada. Object will be comprised of sophisticated separates for women, bringing a singular aesthetic to the Canadian consumer.

“My philosophy behind OBJECT was creating modern classics in leather that are effortlessly integrated into anyone’s wardrobe. Attainable and affordable, the designs are investment pieces translated in leather to create a new language of dressing,” says Antonopoulos.
Antonopoulos has earned an impressive reputation within the Canadian fashion landscape through his work as both a creative director and stylist with publications such as Flare, Fashion and Cheek Magazine. DANIER is excited to have the opportunity to bring this Canadian talent’s forward thinking vision into the retail arena; OBJECT will debut to the Canadian media this spring.

DANIER is going crazy with the collaborations: Mark Fast, Greta Constantine and George Antonopoulos. I’m very excited about this development and I’m glad to see Canadian retail taking notice of our designers. I cannot wait to see it all.

Greta and Ezra Constantine Fall Winter 2011 – 2012

Greta and Ezra Constantine Fall Winter 2011 - 2012

I had a little peek of a few items from the collection at various times prior to the show. First visit was jersey dresses and the second visit was the long melton wool kimono inspired jackets. There was talk of velvet in the studio as I swung the jacket over my shoulders. Greta in velvet, I thought, that could be interesting. Little did I know that velvet would be everywhere this Toronto Fashion Week. Kirk and I talked about the inspiration which included the Orient and a link between past and future.

Greta and Ezra Constantine Fall Winter 2011 - 2012

The show was back at Audi. I like the venue but it’s shitty to take pictures in. Of course, torontolife.com captured the entire Greta Constantine Fall Winter 2011 – 2012 collection. They have a great photographer that got way better shots than me.

The collection surprised me in a good way. It wasn’t just jersey dresses; Kirk and Stephen were dressing for a Canadian winter. Greta Constantine’s Fall Winter 2011 – 2012 collection is romantic and sultry. The colours were rich: charcoal, crimson, mushroom, cobalt and eggplant with slate and black being the complementary neutrals. I loved all the cocoon shaped jackets, especially the one in velvet. Other fabrics used this season included double knit, jersey, neoprene, leather, and fur. I loved the layered on styling, it looked so warm and cosy.

There are some pieces that don’t really work with the 2D nature of photos. The voluminous capes and skirt don’t look great in photos but the effect was like a quilt without all the stitching. It was like being wrapped up in a big cozy blanket which might not appeal to some but I thought was excellent.  I like warm in the winter and need alternative to down jackets. The melton wool Kimono coats looked so great on the runway. It’s dressing as a kick ass superhero or action star. Too bad it’s not practical to have a train on your jacket but they can be shortened for retail. The capes are cute on the runway but I still can’t see myself wearing one yet. I have a vintage one in my closet that I’ve never worn. I loved the pants. The collection also featured their signature jersey dresses which has some interesting cutout features on the side and backs.

Aldo created an exclusive line of Greta Constantine shoes in four styles using fabric that Kirk and Stephen had acquired but couldn’t use for the show. The shoes are pretty amazing and all the models got to keep a pair. I got some close up shots.

Greta and Ezra Constantine Fall Winter 2011 - 2012

Greta and Ezra Constantine Fall Winter 2011 - 2012

Ezra Constantine Fall Winter 2011 – 2012 had me at the billowing parka. I’m a sucker for that silhouette. Put anything on a piece that looks like a cape and I’ll be all over it.  It plays on all my superhero desires. I enjoyed the drape applied to Ezra this season. I also enjoyed my shirtless men but was wonder where our dear Paolo was. Ezra wasn’t into colour with slate, charcoal, mushroom and white being the palette. Fabrics were the same as Greta Constantine except the lack of velvet and fur.

Elle Canada’s 10th Anniversary Party

Elle Canada had their 10th Anniversary a few weeks ago and of course held a party. I wore a dress from the Greta Constantine spring summer 2011 collection. I was going for a total monochromatic red look but I was missing the red handbag and shoes. I need to rectify that big time.

There was a video made from the night and I made the final cut. See 1:45. I’ve place the video after the jump because it autoplays. Check your sound levels too before checking it out.

Ezra Constantine Spring 2011 Preview

Ezra Constantine Spring 2011

The Ezra Constantine Spring 2011 preview took place at the home of Michael Cooper and Krystal Koo. They are friends of Kirk and Stephen’s who generously made their home available for a great fashion experience.  The choice of forgoing the fashion show was a smart one as the garden party atmosphere was enjoyed by everyone and well into the night.  It’s hard not to love good looking men, Macallan Scotch, Peroni, great fashion, friends and beautiful weather.

Ezra Constantine Spring 2011

It was an eight look preview into the Spring 2011 collection. The boys promised their will be more to looks to come. The collection continued along with design treatments from previous season with cowl necks, slim and fitted pants with oversized pockets. I felt there was a touch of safari and military in the olive and khaki looks. I liked the draping added to the structure in those pieces. They even threw in some sheer pants and put them on beautiful Paolo.

Ezra Constantine Spring 2011

Standouts for me were the white shirt and khaki skort look and the khaki button up shirt with the built in scarf. That shirt looks fantastic on women too. I spotted Amanda sporting it at the Tommy Ton event.

Pic Me Tommy Ton

I was running around like crazy that night and only stayed for a little bit. It was a great event though. The common theme I’m hearing about good events in this city is that they make you forget that your are in Toronto. I’ve heard it a lot, hell I’ve said it myself. This was one of those parties.

There’s video too.

Check out all my photos in the slideshow. Drool over the shirtless men for a bit, I got lots of those pictures. Ha Ha.

TEFW – Greta Constantine and Erza Constantine Fall Winter 2010 – 2011

Greta Constantine and Erza Constantine Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

The Audi dealership would host Kirk and Stephen once more as they presented the Greta and Erza Constantine Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 collections.  The boys seem to have great sponsors with Audi, Stolichnaya, Glaceau smartwater, ALDO, and Ame.

Greta Constantine and Erza Constantine Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

There were no Rado wristbands when checking in this time instead I presented with a plexiglass rectangle engraved with the words “Greta Constantine” and a gold sticker with my seating assignment. It was a great touch and a nice little keepsake after the show.

Greta Constantine and Erza Constantine Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

Paul Baik, my amazing Photographer was with me to catch-all the action. We went backstage to an unusually prepared team, it seemed they were waiting on the audience. I was in awe, where was the craziness and drama? It was none to find, only models milling around eating (yes, eating), talking and taking photos.

Greta Constantine and Erza Constantine Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

It was a night of the urban, doomed heroes and the dark, noir dames. The collections are both urban and modern but completely divergent. Erza is your prototypical urban dweller, covered in layers of fashion forward garments. The Erza man is casual but never unstylish. The men’s collection styling was heavily influenced by the military and soldiers. The makeup inferred a recent battle or the calm before the final push. There were multiple wars references from the civil war to WW2. I dare say there was a “suicide bomber” reference too but that could have just been my gut reaction to the hooded man wearing a black vest with multiple pockets stomping up the runway. The collection was really strong and everything seemed to fit. I normally can find some things to nitpick about, but not this time. I was most impressed with the outerwear, lots of great coats for men for Fall Winter 2010 – 2011.

Greta Constantine and Erza Constantine Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

The Greta Constantine woman asserted herself on Friday and made sure everyone was paying attention.  The Greta girl had looks for the office, a night on the town and the fundraising gala. It was a cohesive collection of that seemed to distill the core Greta girl look ported to different fabrics.  This included jerseys dresses in poly, wool and sequined jersey.  Office Greta was a the series of  Wool jersey pieces which provided enough structure to look boardroom ready and enough drape to be Greta Constantine.  I would love to  spruce up my office attire with a few of these beauties.  You had your classic jersey Greta party dresses that everyone loves and craves.  There was the added twist of shimmer thanks to the sequins.  They looked beautiful on the runway in motion.  Finally, it was party girl Greta with leather panel boot leggings paired with goat hair and fur vests.  All I have to say is that I need those leather boot leggings, HOT!

Greta Constantine and Erza Constantine Fall Winter 2010 - 2011

Both collections presented a new maturity from Kirk and Stephen.  I know it’s been said a lot but maturity is really the best word to describe it.  They are really coming into stride with in finding out who Greta and Erza are?  I know I’m a little bias in my love for Greta but I really believe this was the best collection I’ve seen from them to date.  The Greta Constantine collection looked like money in the bank walking down that runway.  There were so many wearable and beautiful pieces.  I wanted it all.  Erza Constantine impressed me a lot, even more so than Greta.  It didn’t look like Erza’s second time around the block at all.

If you want to catch up on all the drama that played out before the final runway show check out the Fashion guest blogger post by Kirk and Stephen on The Ampersand.

You can see the slideshow of the complete show and backstage photos.

Of course another great thing about a Greta and Erza Constantine show is seeing old friends and new all dressed up.  I’m in way too many of these photos so please forgive me.

The House of Constantine: Our Girl Anita Clarke

The House of Constantine: Our Girl Anita Clarke

I get a message from the @gretconstantine twitter account telling me to check out their blog. The first post on the site is called The House of Constantine: Our Girl Anita Clarke.

It’s this beautiful tribute post to me from everyone at the House of Constantine. They posted photos that were taken of me in the studio and out and about. These people know me; they got the pose, beer is my alcoholic beverage of choice and the I love the word Fuck. I started crying, thank god I was home at the time. It was really touching and beautiful.

TEFW Outfits – Greta Constantine Spring 2010

200911_TEFWGCOutfitJasonHowlett

Of course I was representing Greta at their show. I wore one of the jackets from the Fall 2009 collection. I paired it with a white tank top and amazing leather leggings from Danier. I’ve been so impressed with Danier lately, they are stepping up their style game. I even bought a leather motorcycle jacket from them recently. I knew my quest for a Rick Owens version was probably years away. I wore my Luxury Rebel booties and with my purple Marc Jacobs bag.

TEFW – Dare To Wear Love Spring 2010

Dare to Wear Love - Pat McDonagh

There are times when I can’t find the words to talk about a topic. It can be a fashion show, event, etc. I end up sitting on the post until it comes to me and that is why this final LG Fashion Week show review on Dare to Wear Love is so late.

Dare to Wear Love - Peach Berserk

The Dare to Wear Love show, full of beautiful fashion, dance and music inspired by Africa. The multi-faceted collaboration is the largest public dare of the SLF’s new fundraising initiative A Dare to Remember. Recently launched, the nationwide initiative challenges Canadians to take on dares of all kinds to raise awareness and funds for the grassroots organizations in Africa that are on the frontlines of the AIDS pandemic.

More than 25 top designers, including Lida Baday, Brian Bailey, Brose, Pam Chorley, Wayne Clark, Comrags, David Dixon, Evan Biddell, Farley Chatto, Greta Constantine, Izzy Camilleri, Linda Lundström, Lucian Matis, Ross Mayer, Jason Meyers, Price Roman, Mercy, Thomas Chung, Ines de Santos, Peach Berserk, Pat McDonagh, Reva Mivasagar and Ula Zukowska, have committed to Hoax Couture’s dare to create luxe gowns made of rich, eye-catching fabrics sourced from African communities who work with the SLF. Dare to Wear Love - Reva Mivasagar

This was one of my highlights of the week. I was really excited to see what our Canadian designers would create using super colourful African prints. I walked in to find that I was placed in the front row, yay. When I got in the runway room I saw that I was sitting next to Jeanne Beker.   I was a little nervous to say the least but it was all for nothing as Jeanne wasn’t attended. I sat besides David Livingstone from The Star. I crudely introduced myself and told him I was a fan of his work.  Totally lame I know, I didn’t know what to say.  I will say this of David, he has the best “get the hell out of a show fast” technique I’ve ever seen. He gets full kudos for that from me.

The show started with some words from the Hoax Couture boys and Stephen Lewis followed by a choir. The show started after that. It was one of those designer celeb combos that are so popular at fashion week here.  There were a few models that totally hammed it up on the runway which was hilarious.  I particularly liked Jully Black and Jessi Cruichshank turns down the runway.  Natasha Rose had the most graceful walk as she flawlessly danced down the runway, it was quite beautiful.

25 designers presented their garments and many were true to their style, for example David Dixon, Greta Constantine, Mercy and Evan Biddell. Some designers pushed the boundaries like Izzy Camilleri, Pam Chorley and Comrags (pictured below).

I’m bias in my favourite dress because I’m a huge fan of Rose, the model. She looked amazing in Ross Mayer’s creation. I loved the head piece and colours.

We were treated to a drum performance at half time. They had colourful outfits on too.

I’m really excited about the Dare to Wear Love show on October 23th at LG Fashion Week. It’s one of my highlights.

Do you dare? For the first time ever, Hoax Couture and the Fashion Design Council of Canada (FDCC) are partnering with the Stephen Lewis Foundation (SLF) to produce a fashion-forward, cause-driven and meaningful closing night show with Canada’s top designers at LG Fashion Week beauty by L’Oréal Paris. The goal is to leverage the power of the Canadian fashion and entertainment communities to raise awareness and funds for the SLF as it works to support communities that are affected by the AIDS pandemic in Africa.

Starting at 9 p.m. on Friday, October 23, a star-studded audience will experience the Dare to Wear Love show, full of beautiful fashion, dance and music inspired by Africa.

“The fashion and entertainment communities in Canada will provide a unique voice for the Stephen Lewis Foundation’s new initiative with the Dare to Wear Love show,” said Jim Searle of Hoax Couture. “This show integrates high fashion and a truly important cause, and with the designers using gorgeous African fabric to create the garments, it promises to be a captivating evening.”

More than 25 top designers, including Lida Baday, Brian Bailey, Brose, Pam Chorley, Wayne Clark, Comrags, David Dixon, Evan Biddell, Farley Chatto, Greta Constantine, Izzy Camilleri, Linda Lundström, Lucian Matis, Ross Mayer, Jason Meyers, Price Roman, and many more, have committed to Hoax Couture’s dare to create luxe gowns made of rich, eye-catching fabrics sourced from African communities who work with the SLF. Each designer will be asked to have their own family, friends and supporters sponsor this dare with the goal of raising $50,000 for the SLF. Jim Searle and Chris Tyrell of Hoax Couture will also personally ask the fashion community to get involved by making a donation to this cause at http://www.daretowearlove.com .

I was send a digital package that contained some images of the prints that the designers will be using.

It also included some sketches from 4 of the 25 designers. I can’t wait to see these in person and what the others come up with.

TEFW – Holt Renfrew Media Cocktail

IMGP5491

I always enjoy the Holt Renfrew Media Cocktail and I think they might have put the best one on yet. The 3rd floor Contemporary space was more open. No more talking through the racks of clothing. The runway was nice and high so everyone could get good pictures.

IMGP5504

Random celebrities showed up too. I was so angry that I missed Sam Neill in the flesh. I’ve been in love with that man since Jurassic Park. I was too busy running around talking to people and getting my picture taken. The Jeremy Laing dress I was wearing caused quiet the stir. Even Lisa Tant said she liked it. It was the first time she’s talked to me. I think of it as a personal fashion milestone. Yes, I am quite silly.

IMGP5510

This season we saw designs from Jeremy Laing, Greta Constantine, Erza Constantine, Pink Tartan, Lida Baday, Smythe, Denis Gagnon and Mikhael Kale. They are some of our best designer talent in Canada. They are all available at Holt Renfrew. Yes, Canadian designers are available at Holt’s.

Denis Gagnon and his stylist did some DIY madness on Aldo shoes. They are so covetable. I’ve heard the rest of Denis’ collection is to die for. I need to find pictures stat. If you know of good ones, please leave a comment.

IMGP5542

I’d love to step into Mikhael Kale’s brain. He comes up with some crazy stuff. He’s very inventive with the fabrication. Loved the bright blue and pink shoes.

IMGP5547

This is one of my favourite dresses from the Jeremy Laing Spring 2010 collection. I love how the print converges to a point on the hip. Jeremy is so damn adorable. I knew I would see him at the cocktail and that’s why I decided to make sure I was representing him by wearing one of his dresses. I couldn’t believe that many people couldn’t figure out who I was wearing. I guess I’m just a little obsessed.

TEFW – Greta Constantine Spring 2010

Greta Constantine Spring 2010 taken by Jason Howlett
The clothing was one part of the huge fashion event put on by Greta Constantine and their slew of sponsors. The backdrop was the Audi Dealership on Bayview. That should have tipped me off to the scale of the event to come but I really didn’t think twice about it. It wasn’t until I stepped outside the cab. I arrived a little early and walked through the back entrance to the main floor of the dealership. It was full of an excited energy. people were running around everywhere getting everything set up.

I looked to the right and there was a huge wall of Greta. Huge images of Kirk and Stephen, Coco Rocha for Greta Constantine and Erza Constantine alternated with the Greta Constantine logo. I’ve gotten to know Kirk and Stephen over the years and it was a little emotional to see this display. I looked around at this massive production they have taken upon themselves and I was in awe. I was so proud and very excited to see how it played out over the course of the night.

The crowd slowly began to arrive. It was a constant flow of fashion media, retailers, socialites, sponsors and fans. I met the old school supermodel Eve by Alan of Giovanni. I was swooning, she was so nice. She also recommended some espresso have. She was getting one at this DeLonghi espresso machine demo.

After drinks and appetizers, the crowd walked down the Holt Renfrew red carpet to the lower level parking garage. When I walked through the threshold to the runway room I laughed at the size of it. I heard the runway was 140 feet prior to the show.  I couldn’t picture it until immersed. The ceilings were enormous with exposed pipes and tall pillars. It reminded me of my youth, a rave I attended was in an empty warehouse in the west end of Toronto. The room had a vibe of secret underground party with a room full of well dressed people. It wasn’t as big as the tents at Byrant Park, but it the biggest runway room I had seen in Toronto.

Greta Constantine Spring 2010 - Tommy and Anita taken by Jason Howlett

I was sitting near to Tommy Ton who just returned from Paris. I got to give him a big bear hug and congratulate him on his current success. I’m so proud of that his talent is now recognized worldwide. I got to know Tommy on my trip to NYC for the Spring 2008 collections. I’ll always remember us standing outside of Rodarte and Proenza Schouler. I’m team Tommy all the way 🙂

The show opened silently with three models that were wearing seatbelt creations walking from the photographer’s pit to the beginning of the runway. They were milling around upstairs chatting up the guests and giving people a closer look. The runway music started which was an eclectic choice of different styles. Everything was going smoothly with the show then one of the ridiculously expensive (talking six digits I think) Bang and Olufsen speakers blew. It was really loud before but I wasn’t thanking the gods when it stopped producing sound. It really added a distraction to the show. I can’t remember any of the tunes now. I blocked the music when the speaker blew.

Female and male models walked the runway in various combinations but with no set pattern. Black, white and grey dominated both sexes on the runway with splashes of colour by way of sunburst prints, bright yellow and red. Feathers, leather and jersey were the fabrics of choice. Shirts were draped and crotches were dropped. The women’s hemlines weren’t telling you anything about the stock market because they were short and flirty or long and lean. Fringe, masks and bondage belts accessorized both men and women. The collection’s streetwear influence was easy to spot. It was interesting how that tougher style was paired with feathers, flowing prints and colourful jersey.

I had seen a lot of the clothing in the studio and was able to touch them and get a good look. I was surprised at number of looks that were new to me and ones that weren’t shown. There were a few jersey dresses to represent their signature style but I enjoyed seeing long skirts dominate. Separates were more plentiful than dresses. More than one person I talked to after the show lamented about the lack of jersey dresses in the collection. One of the finale pieces was a silver grey silk gazar dress that billowed as it walked. It reminded me of the Lanvin Spring 2008 finale dress, GC upped the sex appeal and made it shorter in the front.

I was drooling over all the black outfits with the white piping. The sunburst print pieces were beautiful. The grey leather jacket was refreshing, in fact I loved it paired with the yellow jersey. I need the leather shorts for women, not sure how summer friendly they would be. I do know the leather is pretty light but I still doubt it’s comfort in 30 degrees. The leather jacket paired with the feather skirt was a big win for me too. In the men’s collection featured a lot leather, sheer and draping. I felt the sleeveless hooded poncho was the standout piece of the collection.

All the clothing was beautiful, I loved it hanging off the racks and also on the models. There were a few presentation aspects of the show that I had some issue with. I felt the presentation was a little all over the place. I would have liked to see the men and women segregated. It would have allowed us to see the cohesive nature of the Erza Constantine collection. The women’s collection wasn’t as cohesive as the men’s. I was told this was buy design. There were some themes that I would have liked to seen grouped together like the prints and pieces with feathers. These comments say more about me than Greta Constantine. I really like themes and the execution of them. Many designers don’t keep things as cohesive as I like I felt Celine and Dolce & Gabanna achieved this season. Maybe I should get over it, but something about it makes me smile.

Well, my pictures really turned out crappy because of the lighting and I didn’t have my beloved Paul Baik with me to snap the good stuff. I did borrow some photos from my friend Jason Howlett who had a great view of the runway. It’s not the full collection. He’s got some great backstage shots of the show. I’ve included my photos in a slideshow just in case you want to look.

Holt Renfrew Launches Vignettes

HoltsTiff09GroupShot

Holt Renfrew Launches Vignettes was their TIFF party this year.

The launch party for Vignettes will take place on Saturday, September 12 from 9 PM – 1 AM at Toronto’s Burroughes Building with a performance by The Stills and a special introduction by Coco Rocha. Holt Renfrew is also very proud to announce that the host of MTV USA’s IT’S ON Alexa Chung will be the special guest DJ for the evening.

What the hell are Vignettes? Well Holt Renfrew created some short films for their men’s and women’s collections this season.

The night was also the debut of my custom made leather dress from Mi Concept. It was a hit. I paired it with Luxury Rebel booties, YSL clutch and a Fizz Amethyst Ring borrowed from the Swarovski lounge at The Four Seasons Hotel.

Anita03

It was a fun evening and I got to reconnect with a lot of fashion friends I missed while away. I didn’t take a lot of photos. I didn’t talk to Coco but I stared at her a lot. She’s flawless. I also managed to snap this photo on my blackberry of Coco talking to Philip. That’s about as close as I got to her. She was wearing Greta Constantine, a sneak preview of Spring 2010 from what I’m told.

There are some photos on the Fashion Magazine website and I’m included too.

Now, isn’t this the cutest picture of Philips Sparks and I.
