Brunch at La Perlerie

I was invited to a unique brunch event at La Perlerie a bead boutique and flameworking studio in the west end of Toronto. It was a way for Susan Nagy, owner of La Perlerie to reach out to several tastemakers in the city and talk to us about what she does at the boutique. La Perlerie bead boutique and flameworking studio features hand-made flameworked beads made in house, semi-precious stones, woods, resins, glass and Austrian crystal. They also do custom jewllery work where they work closely with the client to come up with the design for any occasion or use. Susan has also launched her first collection of sculptural neckpieces using a combination of wireworking techniques and handmade glass beads. La Perlerie also offers courses in Glass Beadmaking. Classes are taught by renowned Flameworking Artist and Jewellery Designer – Nadia Tasci. La Perlerie is working hand-in-hand with Sterling Silver Artist Karen Lamont of Citrus (www.citrussilver.com), to provide customers with a truly unique gift of a Sterling Silver Pendant, hand-stamped with words of the customer’s choosing. …

i want: Maximum Fringe Necklace by Norwegian Wood

Maximum Fringe Necklace by Norwegian Wood I’m obsessing over the necklaces at Norwegian Wood along with the leggings and harnesses. I met Angie Johnson, the Montreal based designer during LG Fashion Week a few weeks ago. She also has a shop/gallery with partner Tyler called Headquarters. I wish I knew about this place when I was in Montreal. I’ve seen her designs on many of the Worn Journal girls out and about. This necklace though, man I love it. Lots of chains and fringe would make for great movement while dancing. I’m not sure if there are any shops in Toronto that are carrying Norwegian Wood yet. I know there was talk of a really great fitting shop being interested. She will be in town for The One of a Kind Show, so get down there and pick up some stuff.. ya, no. that’s not happening 🙁 image: etsy.com

Adventures in Moonrox – One of a Kind Edition

So I worked the Moonrox booth at the One of a Kind Show this past Saturday. I’ve always thought of myself as a piss poor salesperson. When it comes down to it a salesperson has to like people and I’ve never been a big fan of people. However to my surprise I was a selling machine that day. I also managed to score some jewelry in the process. MJ picked this necklace out for me before I even arrived. He knows my style so very well and even told Monique (MoonRox designer) that I would totally buy it. He was right. I was telling people that this necklace is right on trend for Spring 2009 and most gave me a blank look. If you’ve been to the One of a Kind Show, you’ll understand. I have always loved the MoonRox Charm bracelets. They are chunky, loud and colourful. I think they are the perfect addition to a LBD ensemble. MoonRox is in booth Y-4 and will be at the One of a Kind show till …
