geekiviews: Oscillation, Mascara by Lancome

I had a day off work so I attend the preview of the new Lancôme mascara. Ôscillation, Mascara by Lancôme. So the whole buzz about this mascara is that it vibrates. That knowledge brought out a lot of comments about eye poking and other injuries from most people. It’s not actually like that. The technology is nothing like your electric toothbrush. The brush oscillates at 7,000 vibrations per minute. Partner this action with a specially made formula and there you go. The oscillation aspect of the brush was chosen in order to mimic the way professional makeup artists would apply the product. Jean-Louis Guéret, the designer of all Lancôme brushes gave a short talk about the product and the history of mascara. It was fascinating to be honest and it made me regret not getting into Chemistry when I had the chance. Could you imagine the R&D lab for Lancôme mascara!!!! We were all given the chance to try the product out in addition to the demo. Even Jean-Louis used the product; that is dedication …

geekiviews: Care by Stella McCartney

My package of Care by Stella McCartney skincare products came by FedEx today. Just in time too, I was about to make my quarterly purchase of Dermalogica products. My friends at Matchstick like me being a guinea pig. Yay! The line consists of: Nourishing Elixir, 5 Benefits Moisturising Cream, 5 Benefits Moisturising Fluid, Gentle Cleansing Milk, Purifying Foaming Cleanser, Toning Floral Water, Calming+Soothing Elixir, Radiance+Youth Elixir and the Nourishing Night & Day Cream. The packaging is pretty. I’ll be diving in and using this product instead of my regular Dermalogica products baring any allergic reactions. Watch this space for my opinions.

geekiviews: J.R. Watkins Vanilla Dry Oil Body Mist

My good friends at Brill Communications have provided me with J.R. Watkins Vanilla Dry Oil Body Mist You might remember my last run in J.R. Watkins. I received a sampler pack and had positive things to say. This is what the website has to say about the product. Watkins has always been known for outstanding vanilla products. Now, the calming aroma of natural vanilla is used to enhance a truly special line of body care products with skin-softening moisturizers and an exclusive blend of essential oils. This rich, moisturizing spray leaves skin feeling soft and smooth. Apricot kernel oil and vitamin E nourish skin with essential lipids and nutrients—and because the oil is quickly absorbed by the skin, it leaves a dry yet soft feel. With our exclusive vanilla fragrance. I was skeptical of this product. I don’t like body oils, they always leave you greasy and I really don’t want any of that stuff all over my clothes. When it arrived I wasn’t sure I would use it and it sat around for awhile. One …

geekiviews: Sephora: The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin, and Hair from the Beauty Authority

Melissa from Harper Collins send me the proof to the new book Amazon.ca: Sephora: The Ultimate Guide to Makeup, Skin, and Hair from the Beauty Authority. It was very exciting because the book wasn’t in print at the time, so I felt extra special to be getting a pre-launch look. The actual hardcover version is like a coffee table book. Sephora is one of those stores that can suck you in. I’m not a big user of makeup but I find myself getting excited looking at all the colours and packaging. I don’t even look at the skincare section; I’m a Demalogica girl. This book reads like a catalogue. I’m not sure what I was expecting, maybe something more subtle. The book is similar to what net-a-porter is doing; incorporating content that helps to sell the product. I liked the Faking it chatper where it talked about faking long legs and high cheekbones. The try this at home section was interesting too with instructions on how to wear red lipstick, shape your eyebrows, wearing false …

geekiviews: Revealing my beauty secrets tag challenge

Bargainista decided to tag me in the Revealing my beauty secrets tag challenge. This should be interesting and you’ll get an idea of my minimal approach to makeup. My Foundation: Don’t wear foundation. I probably should, but I’m lazy. My Mascara: I love Mascara. Right now my favourite is Cargo in Electric Blue. Day Cream: Dermalogica Active Moist moisturizer and Total Eye Care eye cream. My Beauty Product Brand: I don’t really have a favourite and Dermalogica doesn’t do makeup. My Essential Beauty Product: Dermalogica Active Moist moisturizer and Total Eye Care eye cream My Favorite Makeup Product: Lip gloss. Loving the Make Up For Ever super lip gloss in clear. I like the wet look. My Perfume: Flowerbomb and before that the lavender perfume you get when you stay at the Hotel St. Paul in old Montreal. God, I need to get back there. Three Products to bring on a Deserted Island (besides solar): Dermalogica, Dermalogica and more Dermalogica. I would need my Active Moist, special cleansing gel and Total Eye Care Woman I …

Fight aging boys!

The one thing I like about the beauty industry going after men are things like the Lancôme Anti-Age Expertise for Men. That’s right guys, no more growing old gracefully, you can’t show signs of aging either. Excuse me while I cackle in the corner, hee hee.

i got: electric blue mascara from Cargo Cosmetics

I don’t wear much makeup but I really love mascara. I picked up some electric blue mascara from Cargo Cosmetics today at Sephora. It’s easy to spend a ton of time in that store and I don’t even know how to use most of the stuff in the place. The blue shows up well this one. I’ve tried others where the lashes look black. EDIT: I’ve added a photo of me wearing the stuff. The blue pops eh!
