Jonathan Saunders Ready to Wear – Fall Winter 2008 – 2009 Jonathan Saunders ready to wear show was very anticipated this season because he was showing in NYC instead of London. The show was received poorly on The Fashion Spot. It was no Fall 2007 collection but I liked a few of the pieces.
Halston Ready to Wear – Fall Winter 2008 – 2009 One of the most anticipated shows of the season is Halston and man was it awful. This periwinkle thing is the most hideous garment I’ve seen in a long time. Seriously! These two are the worst of the bunch, but it doesn’t get much better. You are suppose to reinvent Halston not make some existing patterns. images: thefashionspot.com
Jeremy Laing Ready to Wear – Fall Winter 2008 – 2009 Inspired by the kaleidoscopic cover of The Possibility of an Island, the latest novel by Michel Houellebecq. The interior of a ’50s couture bodice, with its excess seam allowance becoming a decorative element. Josef Albers’s “Homage to a Square†color-field experiments. Quadrant-based construction, with a nod to Vionnet. love. images: thefashionspot.com

Roland Mouret – Ready to Wear Fall 2008 – 2009 I wasn’t all that in love with the spring 2008 collection for RM by Roland Mouret, but he has turned me around for fall 2008. Style.com says it’s a pre-fall collection and the fashion spot says it’s Fall 2008, i’m going with the fashion spot. images: thefashionspot.com
Agenda Inc. linked to the BBC documentary The secret world of Haute Couture I want to tell you about a club I’ve heard of. It’s secret, highly exclusive. There are no written rules to decide if you can or can’t join. There’s no official committee to vote you in. This club has got only about 200 members in the entire world, all women. What they have in common is the desire and the means to acquire the most expensive clothes that money can buy. Edit: I’ve found a single youTube video for this great documentary. Enjoy it in it’s entirety now.
I hear we will have another Canadian to cheer during New York Fashion Week, it’s Arthur Mendonça. Congrats Arthur, I can’t wait to see the show. Unfortunately it will be online like most people, I’m not attending the fall shows in New York this season. 🙁 image: mendonca.ca
When I was in NYC the Costume Institute at the MET was closed. So I was excited to see the new MET blog called blog.mode: addressing fashion – The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York. Each post features an item from their collection and there are some really beautiful pieces.
