She Does The City talks Holt Renfrew Fashion Blogger Windows

I met Kortney Shapiro from She Does The City the day after I met Ian for my Medistyle interview. This one didn’t involve video thank god. I’m not doing a very good job of recalling what I was wearing either. Anyways, It’s a great piece and you can read it here – Holt Renfrew Fashion Blogger Windows – She Does The City. Thanks Kortney.

Casalife, Mi Casa Su Casa

The home furnishing and accessories store Casalife held an event called Mi Casa Su Casa. It was a like a mini design show which showcased prototypes created by local architects, fashion designers, and chefs. “It’s intended to invoke conversation and awareness of what it takes to come up with a great product these days,” Casalife owner Rob Whitfield said of the event. “The original concept was to invite people that don’t normally design furniture to propose an idea. We wanted to do three or four, but when the ball got rolling it rolled me over. We’re now doing 12 or 13 pieces, and we had to put the brakes on it or we would have had 40 of them. There might be a sequel.” (source) Anwar, Matt, and Allan from the Design Agency Christopher Bates, Ultra Menswear This post is pretty long so please check out the rest of the designs after the jump.

Anna Wintour on 60 Minutes

Watch CBS Videos Online   I’m totally late to the game with this one.  It took me a very long time to finally watch Anna on 60 Minutes.   I’m not that impressed with the piece as it was more concerned with trying to portray Anna as a uber bitch.  It also reeked of fear of the different.  Really Morley Safer, “Rocky Horror Picture Show” and “clothes fit for a cadaver”. There are some additional outtake clips on the CBS site.

i want: A TÔ Long-Nam Jacket

I introduced you to the TÔ Long-Nam Fall 2009 – 2010 collection last month. I was walking through Holt Renfrew and came across a jacket from TÔ Long-Nam. I believe it’s from the SS09 collection. The jacket fits like a dream. The best part of the jacket is the draping in the back.

i want: A Mini Dress

Ever since the shock of seeing short dresses on the Valentino fall 2009 couture runway I’ve been thinking about mini dresses. Cashmere Cowl Neck Leather Mini Dress by Rick Owens This must be the softest feeling mini dress ever. Buttery Rick Owens leather and cashmere, heaven! Crepe Studded Mini Dress by Jo No Fui Jeweled Bustier Dress by Alessandro Dell’ Acqua For kicks the special order Jeweled Bustier Dress.

Adeline André Couture – Fall 2009

The most interesting couture presentation was done by Adeline André. It consisted of one look for men and one look for women. To demonstrate her patented three-armhole design (and reveal just how much fabric went into each piece), the four items, including a shirt, jacket and coat for men, were first pegged on a clothesline before being donned by the models. The women’s look, a layered silk crepe dress merging from flesh color tones to pinks and reds, took minutes to put on as meters of fabric and a staggering 21 armholes were wound around. “I wanted to show my work, and the history of the armholes, in a very precise way,” André said.
