Toronto has a number of great jewellery designers and Dolorous is one of them. Danielle Singer, designer, uses brass chains and various vintage components to create her beautiful, minimalist designs. I’m really into her body jewellery right now.
Menat Broad Collar Body Chain is my favourite piece by Dolorous right now. It would make a great statement piece on a long gown for formal occasions. It also would be great more causally too. It’s $278.64 at here Etsy shop.
The Menat Broad Collar Body Chain, inspired by medieval accessories, is a modern style of body jewelry meant to be worn across the shoulders. This beautiful and flattering statement piece is made with two draping strands down the front and three across the back, connected at the shoulders with a section of ornate vintage copper chain from which several strands of brass chain are draped, creating a cap sleeve style look that allows the piece to balance comfortably across your shoulders.(source: Dolorous Etsy Page)
Crystal Lattice Body Necklace is another great piece that would make a great statement on a simple gown. It’s a cheaper option than the Menat Broad Collar Body Chain at $187.55.
The Crystal Lattice Body Chain is a versatile necklace featuring a large vintage chandelier crystal that is absolutely breathtaking in person. The vintage crystal at the center of the necklace is surrounded by layers of draped brass chain, interlaced with one another.
Its constructed to allow it to be worn either as a draped and layered necklace, or as a beautiful body chain with chain interlaced down and around the torso and creating beautiful back detailing.(source: Dolorous Etsy Page)
A Roland Mouret dress makes a statement. The Titanium Dress is one of Roland’s signature silhouettes. The man knows how to make a dress. You can get this dress online at rolandmouret.com as they ship to Canada. It’s (gulp) $2041 but that prices included duties.
Nicholas Kirkwood knows how to make a covetable shoe and I’m loving these two different sandal styles from the Spring Summer 2013 collection. Both shoes are available at ModaOperandi.com, Metallic Sandal at $850 and Blue Pois Sandal at $995
When I was younger I had so many mini skirts in my closet. Now I have two and I miss wearing them. It’s pretty pathetic. So I keep my eyes peeled and I love coming across unusual ones like this neon green perforated leather mini skirt by Proenza Schouler. Of course this piece is expensive, $1650 at Barneys.
I’m a big fan of the Aldo Rise collections and I’m a huge fan of Preen. So when these two get together, I get a little giddy. For Spring Summer 2013 Preen and Aldo released three styles of shoes with two different colourways per style. I’ve already picked up the Musilova style which has a pointy toe, asymmetrical vamp and ankle strap. It’s in a bone colour and the leather has some texture to it. I’m also a big fan of the Preen x Aldo Rise Buito Sandal. It wasn’t available when I purchased the Musilova thankfully because I would have walked out the door with both.
All the styles from the Aldo Rise x Preen collection are $155 and can be found online at aldoshoes.com or in select Aldo Stores like Eaton Centre.
I’ve packed away my winter gear and I shouldn’t be thinking about sweaters right now but here we are. This cashmere, silk and cotton sweater from J.W. Anderson has the perfect combination of colours and stripes. I’ve noticed the J.W. Anderson does really great sweaters.
I’ve seen the Patchwork Raglan Check Sweater online starting from $540 from Shopbop and Farfetch.
I was in Bay Bloor radio looking for some spare earbud covers but somehow ended up getting a demo of the Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Mobile Speaker II. My earbuds were sold out but I started talking to the Sale Associate about the Beats Pill, a portable speaker. The wasn’t sold on Beats but mentioned that Bose has the best portable speaker in the business right now. I was intrigued so it was demo time.
The speaker connect to devices wirelessly via Bluetooth which makes it available for use by any Bluetooth enabled device. A major plus for those that love their iPhone upgrades and the inevitable change in hardware that makes all peripherals obsolete. I connected my iPhone to the Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Mobile Speaker II and started pumping out some Lucy Pearl. Bay Bloor Radio was filled with the sweet sounds of “Don’t Mess With My Man”. There was power and clarity in this portable speaker. I was really impressed because I’ve never heard a small portable speaker with such huge sound. It’s only 3 pounds and has an integrated cover (which comes in Nylon or Leather). The Rechargeable lithium-ion battery lasts for up to 8 hours of play. I was sold as soon as I heard “Don’t Mess With My Man”. This would be perfect for my balcony, summer days in the park, trips to the island and impromptu photoshoots.
You can pick up the Bose SoundLink Bluetooth Mobile Speaker II at Bay Bloor Radio or baybloorradio.com starting at $329.
It’s Loeffler Randall day at I want – I got. I waxed poetic about the Rider Bag and now I’m loving their spring summer 2013 flats. I remember seeing these shoes in the window of Augustina last week. I was most taken with the Odile Sneaker. I love the dark florals in silk and linen with the espadrille details. The Odile Sneaker retails for $225.
The other cute flat from Loeffler Randall is the Luella Mignon Flat Sandal. The colour is spectacular. It’s so intense and saturated. They retail for $325.
Mary Katrantzou is releasing her first line of leather handbags. The collection comes out March 11, 2013 in Europe. The handbags priced at $681 and $854. Saks also delivers to Canada.
EDIT: I’ve just found out from Mary Katrantzou herself that these leather pouches will be available at The Room by The Hudson’s Bay!!
Mary Katrantzou has moved away from crazy prints for fall winter 2013 so we better get in our love with the spring summer 2013 season. I love this shirt dress with detachable pull on tunic. I love the design of stamps and money.
The dress was available on Luisaviaroma but it’s sold out.
This ice blue coloured One Button Shawl Collared Blazer by Smythe would be perfect in the summer paired with a spaghetti strap dress. I’d like to pair it with white skinny cropped pants and platform sandals too.
Seems like this summer is going to be good from my brogue collection. I love the Worksong style from Cat Footwear’s Spring Summer 2013 collection. The purple and blue one are my favourite but if you want something more subdued they have you covered.
I finally visited a Brooks Brothers store in Toronto. I don’t know why it took me so long to visit the Brooks Brothers Flatiron Shop. It’s a beautiful store situated in an old bank building and includes the vault! While I was browsing I noticed the dresses made from Liberty London fabrics. I can’t remember the Canadian price but they are listed as $248USD on the website which also ships to Canada.
