i got: Camilla Skovgaard Drop Cut Out Sandal

Camilla Skovgaard Cutout Platform Booties

I got a the beautiful Hermès L’air de Paris Gavroche for my birthday. I didn’t talk about the other really awesome birthday present. Oh yes, it’s these babies. Camilla Skovgaard makes the most comfortable heel I own.  They have been getting a lot of wear since June.  I’m loving the last so much that I’ve been toying with the idea of another pair of Camilla Skovgaard shoes in the future, perhaps many pairs in years to come.   Not only are they comfortable, they are a smoking hot shoe.

Watch It! Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray: Kristjan Hayden

Like I need an excuse to post a video featuring Pastel Supernova.

A studio, natural lighting, Aveda Control Force and a muse.

This video features hair wizardry by Kristjan Hayden from the Civello Salon Queen Street location utilizing Aveda Control Force Firm Hold Hair Spray. Art Direction and styling was provided by Diego Armand, one of Toronto’s Top Dressed (well deserved I might add).

Message: Hey how are u doing? Im really feeling those adidas u bought from vegas. Can u plz tell me the name and possibly where to cop them from. Thanks for any help.

Hi Mel,

Vegas Kicks

My Vegas Adidas, the mere mention of them brings back debauchery filed times in Las Vegas way back in 2008. I originally purchased these at a store in the Venetian. They are my favourite Adidas kicks ever. I can’t remember the name of the sneaker shop but it was in The Venetian. Normally I would respond to this question with a “you’re shit out of luck answer” but I’ve tracked them down on ebay. If you are serious, bid on them now.

Watch It: Anita’s Awesome Adventure by Jaime Woo

Every time I see the Anita’s awesome adventure video by Jaime Woo it makes my heart quicken. It brings me back to the end of June 2009 on the night that the Holt Renfrew Bloggers Windows were unveiled. This video brings it all back like it was yesterday, it gives me goosebumps.

My dear friend last year celebrated her birthday at the same time that Holt Renfrew celebrated her work as a fashion blogger, paying homage to her with a display window. I filmed it as a belated present for her. <3 you, Anita!

I hope you all enjoy this little behind the scenes look. It’s a year later and I still can’t believe this happened to me. I’ve had so many amazing opportunities in my life and I can’t help but look back at them and think about how fucking lucky I am. This moment is something that I will always cherish. Thank you Jaime Woo for filming. Thank you Gail Mcinnes for the awesome Louis Vuitton birthday cake. Thank you to everyone who came out and celebrated with me. I was honoured with your presence.

Let me tell you, July 2009 was the best month of my life. Thank you Holt Renfrew. It was such an honour to be the subject of one of your window displays.

Watch It: Philippe Dubuc Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 by Jason Last

I was trolling around vimeo while uploading LAX videos and I found this video for the Philippe Dubuc Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 collection. I heard his fashion show was held on a boat. I love that idea. You can see some pictures of the location on Fashion Television.

The video is by Jason Last. I enjoy his fashion films. He made videos for Complex Geometries that I’ve featured before. It’s a fun video, moody and brooding. Of course the clothing looks great.

You can find Philippe Dubuc in their Montréal retail location or online at www.dubucstyle.com/shop.

Watch It! Les Filles en Vogue

I couldn’t resist posting these videos. The first is a documentary that was a special gift in the June/July 2010 issue of Paris Vogue.

featuring five top models of the season: Sessilee Lopez, Sasha Pivovarova, Natasha Poly, Freja Beha Erichsen, and Constance Jablonski, as they experience the latest Paris Fashion Week. Sure, the majority of the short film is in French, but it’s really the behind-the-scenes look which is most intriguing.(source)

It’s a lot of fun to get to see the girls personalities. I’m a huge fan of Sasha and Freja.

The second is a backstage look at the gorgeous Iselin Steiro by Tyen editorial for Vogue Paris June/July 2010. Tyen is a crazy genius, I love him.

Enjoy Fashion Fans.

Hello Anita,

I am fashion consultant and most importantly a fashion lover! I am from Montreal and I am currently exploring the possibility of moving to Toronto for a career move….I would like to know if you can give me hints on the possibilities for a stylists/image consultant in Toronto.

Hi Valerie

I’m amazed at the number of fashion career questions I receive as someone who doesn’t really work in the industry. My main industry if you are wondering is IT/Finance. Fashion is a side project. I don’t know much about the ins and outs of things, but I have friends whose brains I can pick.

First off there have been some great articles and interviews about fashion careers and stylists in particularly.

Interview with an Artist Manager

How to get a job in the fashion industry.

I talked to Gail McInnes from Fashion Magnet for her advice.

  • Source great (not just good) up and coming fashion photographers to do creatives with
  • Only work with professional models
  • Contact the artist agencies to assist stylists (some are paid, some are not, but both will bring industry contacts and potential future opportunities if you show an aptitude for it)
  • Expect to assist for 2 – 3 years while building a portfolio and contacts

Some other advice I have for you is to use Twitter. There are many people in the industry that are using the tool. It’s an easy way to get a look at what they do and to ask questions.

Good luck.
