I agreed to review a skin shielding lotion called Skin MD Natural.
“Shielding lotion is a lotion that forms a protective barrier on the skin and keeps out irritants and chemicals. It also allows the natural oils and moisture to remain in the skin so it can heal better. It is a big advantage that shielding lotions are light and go on without a greasy mess, ” says Dr. Brian Zogg, a dermatologist in Albert Lea, MN.
Shielding lotions are more effective in the treatment of dry skin than moisturizing lotions or protective creams. I had really dry hands this winter and started to use the Body Shop Hemp hand protector to deal with it. Trying out Skin MD Natural sounded like a good idea.
I received the 120ml bottle in the mail. I’m told that a little goes a long way. The instructions are vague, apply a small amount every 2 – 8 hours, then 12 – 24 hours. The lotion is absorbed very quickly and doesn’t leave a greasy residue, or residue of any kind.
Initially, I’m not impressed with the results, my hands are still dry and I’m not seeing much progress. I keep using the product because it probably will need some time to work. Those testimonials always are from the top 2% of people this works wonders for. It took me two weeks to see results that I’m extremely happy with. My hands haven’t been this smooth in ages. I don’t apply the lotion very often and my hands stay soft.
Apparently the lotion is good for people with Eczema, Psoriasis and Thyroid Malfunctions. You can view a list of ingredients here.
They also have a video demonstrating the power of the lotion which is a little over the top and sensational. Limestone is an extremely porous and fragile rock. It’s a cool parlor trick though.
The downside is the price, $25USD. A bottle is suppose to last 1 – 2 months. I can say mine will last longer than that. There is also a lack of availability in Toronto, the store locater turns up nada. For now you can request samples through the website.
This Balmshell lip gloss is great. There is no added flavour or scent, unlike the Rimmel crap I got. It coats well and the packaging is genius. It uses the floaty pen concept and ports it to lip gloss. After the lip gloss is finished you can attach the floaty part to a key chain.

Balmshell is available at Holt Renfrew and online.
I went to the Girls Come First: Vice Magazine/Rimmel Party on Friday. For the first 2 hours of the party it was only women. The bar was free and there was lots of good food going around so it was pretty nice. The gallery was completely barren, it was literally a white box, some artwork would have been wonderful to see. A lot of girls lined up for the make up and manicures that were available. Styles were all over the place and I can’t say any one look dominated the night. There were some things that caught my eye enough to photograph.

Cute ass dunks. I’m not a Nike fan, but I would buy these. I even guessed where she bought them from, Goodfoot. I’m so damn good.

I cut this poor girl’s head off a bit, but I was really concerned about the dress. Proenza Schouler from Target. It was $35 dollars and so beautiful.

w00t! CNTM has started and I’m psyched. This single episode has redeemed the whole last season for me. Kudos to the producers.
