eliza Spring Summer 2012 - White Nights

One of my favourite Toronto jewellery Designers, Eliza Kozurno has released her Spring Summer 2012 collection called White Nights.

Eliza Kozurno launched her first line of jewellery in 2005 after working with an array of innovative designers, including Izzy Camilleri, Colette Harmon and Rita D. Educated at The Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz, Poland as a decorative textile designer, Eliza’s training in painting, drawing, sculpture and photography helped her hone her skills not only as a designer, but as an artist.

The collection uses white as a base and adds gold, black and silver as accents.  Materials include crystals, ribbon, chains and beads.

Eliza, being the lovely person she is, sent me a pair of earrings from this collection. You can see them in this Flare magazine photo from Toronto Fashion Week this year.

Theme Change

So I decided that since I moved to a new place in April, the blog should get a new look too. I finally purchased Thesis after debating it in my mind for years. It’s still pretty minimal as a theme and I really like that. Hopefully you see faster loading times too. I’m still working out all the kinks so let me know if you run into any trouble in the comments.

Sorry it’s been pretty quiet on the site. March was a month I won’t forget anytime soon and the blog too a backseat to real life. I plan on changing that this month.

Thanks for reading.

World MasterCard Fashion Week Stylicity Ad Campaign

This month has been pretty crazy in general for me. One of the cool things that happened is the World MasterCard Fashion Week Stylicity Ad Campaign debuted. In February, I answered a casting call for a street style campaign that would coincide with Toronto Fashion Week. I decided to toss my hat in the ring after some encouragement from friends and what do you know, I got it. It was at that point I learned that it was the title sponsor, Mastercard’s campaign for their Stylicity project. Stylicity is a discount program with selected retailers that provides customers with a 20% discount when they buy with Mastercard.

So on a beautiful day in February, I played street style model on Queen Street during my lunch hour. I was pretty excited to learn that the ads would be featured in TTC shelters. The campaign launched on March 5. I didn’t see the ad ahead of time so I was praying that it would turn out amazing.

Thankfully, Christopher Wadsworth, Dwayne Kennedy and Wendy Rorong are amazing. The photo turned out better than I could ever imagined. Wendy did a really great job with the makeup. I like it on the minimal side. Dwayne took the clothing I brought with me and styled them together for the final look.

So here is the outfit breakdown.

1. Chloe Sandals from Holt Renfrew.
2. Mara Hoffman dress from Rac Boutique
3. Faster by Mark Fast tights (These were a gift from Mark)
4. Jeremy Laing jacket
5. Kenneth Jay Lane Ring and Earrings

The necklace isn’t mine and you can’t see my eelskin handbag in the shot that I bought at I Miss You.

The campaign ends this weekend (March 25). My transit ads are at the Westbound Queen Streetcar stop at both University and Spadina. Of course, I got my photo taken with it while waiting TTC patrons did a double take. Ha Ha

The whole campaign is pretty lovely, so if you are out and about this weekend, be sure to catch them all before they are gone.

i want: MYKITA MYLON x Moncler

I’m in love with another pair of MYKITA sunglasses and of course it’s another designer collaboration. I’m a proud owner of Alexandre Herchcovitch x MYKITA sunglasses and I loved playing with the MYLON pairs at the trunk show. The new collaboration is with Moncler which really has me freaking out.

In 1954 Lino Lacedelli and Achille Compagnoni became the first men to conquer the second highest mountain in the world, equipped with specially made down jackets by Moncler. A homage to the mountain and its conquerors was created in the form of the two sunglasses, LINO and ACHILLE, suitable for downhill runs and also as classic sunglasses for everyday use.

I love the Lino style because of the curved edges.  I can’t believe they are good for skiing too.  All I need is a Moncler puffy for the slopes.

Made from the polyamide-based material MYLON, developed and patented by MYKITA, the frames are very light, extremely durable and individually adjustable to the wearer. Both models are available in the colours red, blue and in a classic black. The frames are fitted with mineral glass lenses boasting excellent durability and clarity of vision, and reveal the MYKITA & Moncler logo when breathed on. The glasses come with a padded carry pouch for easy transport.

MYKITA MYLON x Moncler has a couple of videos about the collaboration. The Making of MYKITA MYLON x Moncler video below had me convinced that I need to own the Lino. The downside is they retail for £465.00. Ya, that in Pounds. Le sigh.

MYKITA & MONCLER. A homage to the mountains is the campaign video.

Chanel Shade Parade at Holt Renfrew

Chanel and Holt Renfrew are celebrating nails. This month you can get a complimentary shape and polish with one of Chanel’s expert manicurists at the Chanel Shade Parade nail bar.

Come experience the world of Chanel beauty at Holt Renfrew! We are proud to present Chanel’s Shade Parade, a short film featuring a chorus line of fingers decked out in the brand’s luxe lacquers. The cabaret-inspired video showcases some of the French fashion house’s most-coveted nail polish shades with an adorably chic twist. With all of the well-manicured hands and snazzy choreography you can’t help but want to join the shade parade!

You need to call and book an appointment for your manicure. Space is very limited. Dates, locations and phone numbers are below.

Bloor Street (416-922-2333) and Vancouver (604-681-3121) February 27th to March 4th
Calgary (403-269-7341) March 12th to 18th

Chanel invited me to experience the Shade Parade a few weeks ago. I literally squealed when the email from Chanel Canada landed in my inbox. Finally the day was here, my first Chanel event. My manicurist was named Ilona. Maybe I don’t get out much but she was the most elegant and well spoken woman I’ve ever met. I felt a bit like a neanderthal talking with Ilona but she mesmerized me while relaying Chanel nail polish history and influences of the spring collection. The colours are called April, May and June.

Chanel Shade Parade

I decided to ignore my dark nail polish tendencies when for the raspberry looking April. Ilona expertly shaped, buffed and massaged my hands. The polish application was flawless and I didn’t mess them up before getting to the office. It was a good morning and to top it off was a little swag bag from Chanel with 3 new additions to the Anita Nail Polish Family.

Thank you Chanel and Holt Renfrew.

Prada Spring Summer 2012 Ad Campaign Print and Video

Prada looked to vintage cars as her inspiration for Spring Summer 2012. The collection is playful and reminds me of Grease. The shoes are pretty killer too.

This campaign video doesn’t even come close to being as good as Spring Summer 2011, it’s still pretty fun.

Models: Natasha Poly, Guinevere van Seenus, Elise Crombez, Meghan Collison, Katryn Kruger and Ymre Stiekema.

i want: Miu Miu Culte Sunglasses

Leave it to Miuccia to come up with more sunglasses that I need to own. This time it’s not a pair of Prada’s I’m drooling over, it’s Miu Miu. These are from the Culte Sunglasses Collection. I love the pentagonal-shaped and brushed gold finish.

The sunglasses are also featured in Miu Miu’s latest fashion film, Women’s Tales Saga.

The film stars Italian actress Maya Sansa and is set to a haunting soundtrack, written especially for the film by electronic pop trio Au Revoir Simone.

Following The Powder Room — Zoe Cassavetes’ dreamy story of opulence and glamour, and MUTA — Lucrecia Martel’s film noir filled with mutant fashion divas — The Woman Dress is again set in an all-female world of glamour and desire. But this time fashion obsession is taken to its most extreme conclusion, in a metaphysical tale of transcendence and ritual.
