Jeremy Laing is in the July 2008 issue of W mag. Here is a teaser scan, but go out and get a copy. I got mine. He is part of the Summer Camp editorial shot by Bruce Weber. The link has a slideshow of some of the images. There is a lot of naked Lara Stone, Daria and Kate Moss all over the place, be warned. School’s out, and the livin’ is easy. The latest flock of new designers hits the road with some top models and friends for a little fun—dressed or not—under the Miami sun.

So Lucinda McRuvy of Rags and Mags had decided to map out Toronto’s Top Ten Style Cliques a la Style.com. I thought the style.com feature was pretty lame, mostly because I don’t live in NYC and I find the whole thing pretty high school (it never seems to end). That being said, this is Toronto, I live here and I find this list very amusing. Yes, your’s truly is mentioned and I’m surprised that Lucinda even knows my name. She’s never acknowledged my presence. Earlier this year, style.com chronicled New York’s top style clans, courted controversy with their inclusions (and exclusions!), and drew attention to the segregated world of fashion. The article got me wondering about who shapes the Canadian style landscape. What style clans to we have? Are they as defined and closed as those in New York? Surveying and spying at Spring events, I surmised Toronto’s top trendsetting teams and observed those hovering around. Regular readers know of my love for Jeremy Laing’s designs. Supercool website, Refinery 29 named Laing as one their top 5 shows at New York Fashion Week, Fall Winter 2007. They also think that he will get a CFDA grant in the future. So, things are going well for him and I’m glad. It’s all about the details with Jeremy, don’t be fooled by the simple designs. I don’t like to get adhead of myself too much. I’m not really into thinking about Spring when it’s cold and thinking about Fall when it’s warming up, but that’s just me. I did happen to notice that Jeremy Laing has the F/W 2006 collection pictures up on the website. Love the presentation. Drool away people.

Od to a new job…

I started a new job on Monday. I’m still in software, just back to my favourite stomping grounds, the business district. I worked for 3 years at a company that didn’t have a dress code. I could pretty much wear whatever I wanted. So I spent most of my time in jeans. Now that I’m working for a financial institution I have to look a lot more professional. Thankfully, I didn’t need to buy a whole new wardrobe. I’m a clothes horse and have a far bit of professional attire. Not enough suits though, so I’ve been looking. This post is about if I had unlimited funds to buy clothes for my new job. If I could afford these clothes I probably wouldn’t need to work.
