This gorgeous purple gown from Roland Mouret is such a stunner. The shoulders make it seem a bit futuristic to me.
Roland Mouret is available at The Room at The Hudson’s Bay.

Roland Mouret is a good bet for beautiful clothing. I love the back detail on this dress. The daring v-neck brings some sex to this otherwise conservative gown. The gown isn’t black but midnight-navy.

I’m still keeping my eye out for beautiful gowns. Donna Karan does great Grecian style gowns.
The front slit and back detail make the very sexy without going too far over the top. It’s also made of a fabric called cupro. It was new to me so I looked it up.
Cupro – The European cousin of tencel , Cupro is also somewhat similar to rayon in that it is reprocessed cellulose. Like tencel and rayon, the base material for cupro is a regenerated cellulose fiber . Cupro gets its name from cuprammonium, the process that is used to process the wood pulp or cotton linters that are its base material. In this process, the wood pulp or cotton liners are dissolved in an ammoniac copper oxide solution. Cupro fabric breathes like cotton, drapes beautifully, and feels like silk on your skin. Its slinky, curve-hugging drape makes it great for elegant dresses and blouses.(source: answers.com)
Donna Karan is available at Holt Renfrew.

Chloé accessories are tugging at my heartstrings. I think this is almost perfection in a bag form. I love the contrast of the linen, leather and black piping. A little longer strap would make this perfect because then you could also carry it cross-body.

These tunic dresses by Bottega Veneta are so easy wearing and perfect for summer. I love the watercolour print.
They could also work into the fall season with some leggings.

Summer isn’t here yet but I’m thinking about these perforated leather sandals by Givenchy

It’s surprising that the bags I like from Bottega Veneta’s Resort 2011 collection are canvas. There is something about this print that just draws me in.
Empire Nero Canvas Vachette Bolle Print “the Couple” Tote is made to be carried by two people so you can use it for picnics, etc.
Assenzio Nero Canvas Vachette Bolle Print Tote is a more traditional sized bag.

These glitter brogues by Miu Miu are so much fun. They are the perfect accent to a menswear inspired outfit. I’ve seen these ones at Holt Renfrew on Bloor.

Le Château has online shopping on their website now so I was taking a look around. I noticed that they were promoting their Resort 2011 collection.
I know a lot of mass retailers have collections for this time of the year when people are thinking about spring but the weather isn’t cooperating. I thought it was interesting that with the increasing coverage of resort collections that Le Château would jump on the band wagon. So what does resort look like for women. A lot of stripes, white and blue.
The YSL downtown bag is another classic I like. This one is in a pony fabric and that makes it a bit different than the rest.

It took a Akris Resort 2011 Trunk Show at Holt Renfrew for me to have an appreciation for the brand. I always overlook them, but the prints from the Resort collection were pretty cool.
You can’t really tell but the above resort 2011 print is a photo of people sitting in what looks like an outdoor cafe. It’s bizarre and a bit creepy but I love it. The detail of the people isn’t something you notice until you stare for awhile
I liked the seaside village print too. It’s like you are wearing a beautiful postcard.
Akris Spring Summer 2011 was all about the flower print and colour blocking.
The maxi length trend is one that I enjoy because I’m just tall enough to pull it off. Platforms help a lot too.
The resort collection was more impressive to me but I’m curious what direction Akris will take for fall winter 2011.

Ya, these Camilla Skovgaard heels are just little crazy. They’d give my coworkers something to talk about.

The YSL Muse bag is a favourite of mine. This forest green version is perfection.

I’m loving that Sacai is becoming more popular. Style.com has posted the collection for two seasons in a row now. There are more photos available of the collections and now instead of judys we get real models.
I love Sacai’s Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 collection. Chitose Abe, Sacai’s designer, creates contradictions that work. In typical Sacai style, tweeds and knits combined with anorak details create a unique look. Items looks like separates but are really one piece.
You can find Sacai at Holt Renfrew.

I love the Chanel Pop-up shop that is in the Jeffrey store in New York City. It features items from the Cruise 2011 collection.
The installation recreates elements of Saint-Tropez where the show took place. You can watch the Chanel Cruise 2011 Collection on I want – I got. I posted the video earlier this year. It’s a beautiful scene but doesn’t come close to the spectacle of Spring Summer 2011.
The shop is open from November 30 to January 4, 2010.

Christopher Kane went with prints again for the Resort 2011 collection. Christopher Kane Resort 2010 featured images of Atomic bomb blasts that may or may not have been acquired in the proper manner.
This season it was space and images from the Hubble telescope were used for the Resort 2011 collection. I think Christopher is a closet science nerd with his interest in space and atomic bombs.

I loving the accessories from Maison Martin Margiela Resort 2011. I find that I love MMM accessories more than the clothing. The Resort 2011 collection had some very wearable pieces but left me uninterested. I really wasn’t into the fall 2010 haute couture collection either.

These Lanvin Resort 2011 group shots make me happy. Who wouldn’t be overjoyed frolicking around in Lanvin.
I’m loving the platform wedges, especially in animal skin.
A friend of mine who is a buyer listed the Lanvin Resort 2011 collection as one of his favourites. Stunning and gorgeous he says.

This is Sarah Burton’s first kick at the Alexander McQueen womenswear line since Alexander has died. I have to admit, I’m liking this Resort 2011 collection.
It’s a safe collection and you can see the difference a woman’s touch makes. It’s a much softer collection that manages to keep a lot of traditional McQueen elements.

Proenza Schouler accessories have been totally amazing for the last few seasons. (See Proenza Schouler Pre-Fall 2010 Accessories). I’m loving the Resort handbags. Dying for a PS1 handbag.

Yellow, yellow everywhere. I love this Resort 2011 collection by Roksanda Ilincic. I’m impressed with her execution of the bright, almost neon yellow. The top middle look is perfection to me.
There are very few designers that will get a bad review from me. Labels like Balenciaga, Givenchy and Lanvin will always be hits in my mind. Of course Celine with Phoebe Philo at the helm is among those select few. Phoebe played with print and colour this season in the ready to wear items. Usually she leaves colour to the accessories.
There was a bit of colour blocking which I would expect from Celine doing colour.
The prints threw me for a loop at first but I do like the pattern and colour combinations Phoebe has chosen.
The accessories are fabulous of course. I’m loving the neon yellow handbags big time.

The Calvin Klein Resort 2011 collection has some wonderful shoes in a bone/off white colour.
The video of the Resort collection is out so I’ve included it here so you can see the shoes in action.

Monique Lhuillier is one of those red carpet/bridal designers that I always overlook or avoid like the plague. This resort collection grabbed me enough that I went to the slideshow.
I really liked the daywear in that black and white colour palette. Her strapless dresses look like they fit perfectly in the bust area.
Philipino born, Monique Lhuillier started her bridal line in 1996 with her husband. In 2002, they launched the ready to wear and eveningwear divisions of the company. They then launched a home line in 2008. A fine paper and bridesmaids divisions were added in 2009.
In Ontario, Monique Lhuillier Ready to Wear is available at Holt Renfrew and Hugo Nicholson. White carries the Bridal and Bliss lines and there is only Bridal at Dina Alonzi Bridal.
Collette Dinningan Resort 2011 manages to strike a the right balance between cutesy and saccharine. There is nothing ground breaking here but I was drawn to colours and silhouettes.
Collette Dinningan is the first Australian designer to show in Paris. The award winning, New Zealand born designer started her namesake label in 1990. The woman has a stamp in her likeness from the Australian Post.
There are no stockists in Canada but the collection is available in New York City at Barneys and Jeffery.
