i want: Marni Flap Bag Resort and Spring Summer 2013

I’m on the hunt for a great all around bag. Ideally it would have a messenger strap but I think I can overlook that it’s missing from the Marni Flap Bag. It’s a great size and comes in colours to match many outfits. The form is reduced to its pure essence, laid bare to expose the precision of the cut and beauty of the leather. The material used is fine calf leather on a monocolour or bicolour panel. Studs decorate the bag leaving its shape clean and graphic.(Source: press release) The photos show styles from the Resort 2013 collection and the Spring Summer 2013 Marni fashion show. images: eastnews.ru, tooklookbook.com

i want: Girdle Seam Shift Dress by Thom Browne

Thom Browne is one of my dream designers. He’s not for everyone and a lot of his designs are considered just weird to people. Thom Browne is a fashion week favourite of mine as his shows are always thought-provoking, unconventional and damn entertaining. I dream of owning his collections (both namesake and Moncler Gamma Bleu) season after season but I might be able to pull of a random sale purchase at Last Call like my Jil Sander blazer. His stuff is crazy expensive. I’m such a nerd about Thom Browne that my heart fluttered when I saw that the Thom Browne twitter account favourited my tweet about the Pre-Fall 2013 collection. I don’t know if Thom actually runs that account but it’s the possibility that he does that makes me so fangirly about it. Anyways, this dress. I can’t even. Adorable Whales, skeletons and tennis rackets. Random and cute always wins me over. The accordion pleats on the back of the dress are great. I would wear this to work and everywhere. A pair of …

i want: Blair Dress by Preen

Every wardrobe needs a red dress in my opinion. The Blair dress by Preen is the perfect shade of red and features my favourite “New Look” silhouette. Preen keeps it simple with a leopard jacquard trim on the neck and back. You can get this dress on Moda Operandi, it ships now. images: modaoperandi.com

i want: Iris Blue A-Line Skirt by Marni

Moda Operandi has expanded their online business and are offering a selection of in season fashions from their designer partners that are shipped immediately. No more waiting of the waiting game if that isn’t you type of thing. I love this Marni skirt. Not only is the Iris Blue colour wonderful it comes in my favourite skirt shapes, the a-line. The little peplum is super cute and very on trend. You can get the Iris Blue A-Line Skirt by Marni on ModaOperandi.com images: modaoperandi.com

Monika Chiang Zinc D'Orsay Stiletto Metal Heel Mirrored Pointed Toe Pump

i want: Monika Chiang D’Orsay Stilettos

I love these D’Orsay stilettos by Monika Chiang that are available at Intermix. I’ve recently come to realize the value of the simple stiletto as a complement to an outfit. Crazy fun shoes are important and necessary but I’d always find myself in a situation where the outfit is perfect and my shoe collection just doesn’t fit. Zinc D’Orsay in cobalt and Metal Heel Mirrored Pointed Toe Pump are available online at the Toronto Intermix store. images: intermixonline.com

Proenza Schouler Resort 2013

Ahh, Proenza Schouler, a brand I could dress head to toe in and be completely satisfied. If only I had the money to make that a reality. The Proenza Schouler Resort 2013 collection isn’t about gimmick and features fresh, wearable shapes and colours. The resort collection introduces a new handbag to the PS line. The PS13 is a new purse that can be carried by hand or using a chunky shoulder strap. I’m loving the tweets with neon accents and the pant shapes in this collection. images: thefashionspot.com

Preen Resort 2013

As always, I’m drooling over another collection from the British Duo, Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi of Preen. The Resort 2013 collection is inspired by florals, sport and paintings from Jeff Koons. “There are hydrangeas, poppies, gerberas, chrysanthemums, which we love,” said Thornton. “But we wanted to do something nontraditional with them. So we started looking at Jeff Koons’s paintings with all those super-bright pop colors and brushstrokes dragged across them. And Nick Knight’s photos of flowers.” “Sport is the other thing that went into it, I suppose,” Bregazzi said. “The idea of combining the patterns with tracksuits, sweatshirts, and bombers.” Have the London Olympics been working their way into their heads, then? Thornton laughed, “Well, maybe without us really thinking about it. We’ve just always liked that sporty minimalism of the nineties.” (source) I love the contrast of dark lines, solid colours and sharp angles to the colourful florals. There a few retailers carrying Preen in Canada: Rac Boutique and Ssense.com. images: thefashionspot.com
