Catherine Malandrino x Lacoste Spring Summer 2011

Yes, yes, I know. More collaborations. I like this one between Catherine Malandrino and Lacoste for spring summer 2011. It’s the little pleated tennis dresses. LACOSTE has partnered with world-renowned French designer Catherine Malandrino to create a romantic and youthful new women’s collection for Spring 2011. The pairing couldn’t be more perfect, blending ultra-femininity and “joie de vivre”, the core of each brand’s philosophy. The LACOSTE + MALANDRINO Collection begins with an unexpected encounter of two worlds with a shared French heritage. The fusion of masculine sportif with a feminine perspective creates a new aesthetic – sensual, strong and Paris/New York chic. A wardrobe of fundamental, timeless pieces designed for a feminine, active life. Catherine Malandrino’s classic dress-making techniques of draping, shirring and a unique cut to accentuate the curve of a woman’s body are applied to the iconic LACOSTE polo. A new dimension of lifestyle-wear for a woman in motion. These two looks are my favourite.  I’m all about the maxi length right now.  The classic tennis outfit never finds itself on my bad …

Oliver Spencer Spring Summer 2011

Oliver Spencer is a British menswear label that recently opened a store on Queen Street West. I stopped by the opening party to check it out. It was pretty packed so I didn’t get to see a lot of the clothing. I did end up buying a beautiful Il Bussetto bifold wallet in vibrant green leather. I did manage to snag the Spring Summer 2011 lookbook which I’ve scanned. Queen Street is turning into the menswear strip with the addition of Oliver Spencer. There are a lot of great shops along Queen for you guys. Oliver Spencer 962 Queen Street West Toronto 647 348 7673

i want: H&M Conscious Collection Dresses

I saw the news of the new H&M Conscious Collection. I didn’t think much of it until I saw this campaign shot. I need this dress, it’s just got summertime written all over it. I think the snow is already getting to me. Sustainability is a long term trend at H&M and this April as part of the focus on sustainability H&M will introduce the Conscious Collection – The collection which is for women, men and children is made from enviromentally – adapted and greener materials such as organic cotton, Tencel® and recycled polyester. H&M’s designers have been inspired by different shades of white, one of the most important colours this Spring. A minimalist, tailored look is combined with romantic lace, Broderie Anglaise, frills and draping. The Conscious Collection will be on sale in all H&M stores from 14th April. “It’s not just about organic cotton any more, the possibilities for creating a complete fashion statement with eco smarter materials are huge now. By designing recurring Conscious Collections we have the opportunity to show in …

United Nude Spring Summer 2011

United Nude makes drool shoes. I’m constantly pining about these shoes and this has been going on for years. I’m really surprised I don’t own a pair of United Nude’s yet. It’s sad but true and I blame it on my resistance to order footwear online, I like to try them on first. They are architecturally driven shoes that are bursting with colour. My next NYC trip must include a visit to the United Nude store and more importantly a purchase too. The hardest problem will be trying to decide which ones to buy. I want them all. United Nude is available at Little Burgundy in Fairview Mall but they tend to carry the most boring of styles which doesn’t help me much. Edit: I`ve been told that the Balisi on Queen Street carries United Nude too. images: courtesy of United Nude
