Fashion Trends on I want – I got

Technosexuals, me and Amber MacArthur

I somehow managed to get myself on television on Friday. Citytv international’s Amber MacArthur was doing a piece on the new Calvin Klein perfume in2u and I guess I was the subject matter expert. The marketing is just nutty for this brand. Here is an example of the crap they are coming up with. “We have envisioned this as the first fragrance for the technosexual generation,” said Mr. Murry, using a term the company made up to describe its intended audience of thumb-texting young people whose romantic lives are defined in part by the casual hookup. Last year, the company went so far as to trademark “technosexual,” anticipating it could become a buzzword for marketing to millennials, the roughly 80 million Americans born from 1982 to 1995. A typical line from the press materials for CK in2u goes like this: “She likes how he blogs, her texts turn him on. It’s intense. For right now.” She likes how he blogs, her texts turn him on. BARF! This drivel is just not computing in my brain. …

Diaper Shorts – BuzzFeed

I got linked on BuzzFeed for my post about Sienna Miller doing the diaper short all wrong. BuzzFeed is a trend site that combs the Internet to find what is buzzworthy. They post site links to these buzzworthy topics. I am among different bloggers who all talked about the diaper pants fad. I am a fan of the fashion buzz section. Like the diaper pants trend, the turban is another trend that I don’t want to see in real life. BuzzFeed distinguishes what is actually interesting from what is merely hyped. We only feature movies, music, fashion, ideas, technology, and culture that are on the rise and worth your time. How it works 1. Buzz Detection We automatically detect new buzz by crawling 50,000 of the very best web sites, blogs, and news sources. Then our technology crunches the raw data from these sites to identify new buzz that’s just starting to spread. We developed the technology to find new things just as they start accelerating in popularity and provoking interesting conversations. Our technology is …

Haramaki, get your belly warmers

Reader submissions are a beautiful thing. I thank reader JP from blogUT.ca for this little fashion nugget from Japan, Haramaki. Haramaki translates to belly warmer. Traditionally used for abdominal health purposes they are quickly becoming a fashion trend. After my initial WTF reaction to the Haramaki, I’m starting to really like them. The prints are great and they are perfect for layering. I love the look in the picture posted above and that is what sold me on the Haramaki. Pingmag.jp has more pictures of Haramaki style that you should check out. I wonder how long it will take this trend to make it over to the West. images: pingmag.jp
