Holt Renfrew Blogger Windows

Well, I hinted at the Holt Renfrew Blogger Windows on my 4 year anniversary post. Now the news has hit up the International fashion press and it’s spreading.

Holt Renfrew is paying tribute to six of their favourite fashion bloggers. I want – I got happens to be on that list. 🙂

WWD was the first out the gate. The press release hasn’t been sent, but they were tipped off by someone. I’ve been yapping on twitter about it for a few weeks now. Racked LA, Mens.style.com, Modelinia, The Cut, Puretrend.com and Fashionista chipped in too. I’m not mentioned in the international press, I’m not fashion blog famous. I just have my little abode here in Toronto.

On the Canadian media front, Danielle at Final Fashion was quick to post, as was fashionmagazine.com. They both mentioned me and I love them for it.

So you are wondering who else is Holt’s favourites? They are Scott Schuman, Bryanboy, Tommy Ton, Jane Aldridge and Garance Doré.

I knew my blog was read in Holt’s head office, but I had no idea how popular it was until now. Watching the reactions and the misinformation is a little surreal. The whole thing is surreal to be honest. I have vague details of my window, but I will be just as surprised as you all on Friday, June 26, 2009. Hit up your local Holts and check out the windows.

EDIT(June 24, 2009): The press release has been sent.

Holt Renfrew Reveals Fashion Blogger Windows
National Windows Pay Homage to Online Style-Leaders

TORONTO, June 23 /CNW/ – This Friday evening, Holt Renfrew, Canada’s leading specialty retailer, will pay tribute to the newest international style influencers – fashion bloggers – with a national window installation celebrating their diversity and spirit.
Six bloggers were invited by Holt Renfrew Creative Director John Gerhardt to be part of the celebration. The bloggers are a diverse mix of fashion leaders from around the globe and include Scott Schuman (thesartorialist.blogspot.com); Jane Aldridge (seaofshoes.typepad.com); Anita Clarke (iwantigot.geekigirl.com); Tommy Ton (jakandjil.com); Bryan Boy (bryanboy.com) and Garance Dore (garancedore.fr/en).
“Bloggers have become the fashion world’s new celebrities,” says Gerhardt. “They’re knowledgeable and influential contributors to the modern media landscape. Their opinions and visuals are relevant, creative and thought-provoking, providing a constant source of inspiration. We are honoured to pay homage to their style.”
At Holt Renfrew’s flagship location in Toronto, two of the blogger-inspired windows will be equipped with a 24-hour interactive touch screen for the public to cast votes to help select Holts Contemporary Correspondent. The two Toronto finalists will be competing in a series of fashion-related challenges being held over six weeks. Votes can also be cast
through Holt Renfrew’s Facebook page and the winner will be determined based on total number of public votes.

More press is coming in too.

  1. Wow, that’s incredible Anita. Congrats, I look forward to seeing the display this friday.

  2. Congrats… its a shame that all the int’l blogs aren’t mentioning you… plus it seems like everyone thinks that Rumi of Fashion Toast is on the list? There also is a misconception that the bloggers weren’t asked permission. Wish Holts was a little faster with the official release – !

  3. I start my day off by reading your blog. Great to hear it’s attracting attention on such a scale. Just keep doing what you do best! Congrats.

  4. oh cool, so they are working with bloggers! i had read somewhere that they hadn’t secured permission yet… WWD hadn’t mentioned I want I got, or I would have contacted you to get confirmation on this! it’s exciting… and a bit strange, no? are they forming the mannequins especially for this, or dressing them up in your style?

    1. There is so much misinformation going around. The press release should have gone out earlier. WWD didn’t mention me because I’m not fashion blog famous, which is fine.

We were all asked permission from Holt Renfrew, nothing was done without anyones knowledge. I know I had no input into my window.

As for the mannequins, I’m surprised this point was jumped on so hard. I’m really not sure if the mannequins are going to be any different than your regular store mannequins. I don’t think they will look like the bloggers, if they are used at all. I really have very little details.

  5. yeah… it’s because it’s the first time something like this is going on…but probably why people are flipping out about the blogger mannequins is because the headline sounds like they are making actual mannequins in your image…

but that’s really fun that they are making a whole window for you… do you know what it looks like? do you like it?

  6. Vague idea of what is going on. I like the idea. I trust Holt’s visual team though, they always have nice windows so I’m sure it will be good.

  7. Congrats Anita! It’s wonderful to see you recognized for all the work you’ve done to celebrate the local fashion scene – and all as a hobby!

Any idea what time the new windows will be unveiled? I’ll have my camera on hand and hope to take photos of the Bloor St. and Yorkdale windows so I can cover it on Bargainista.

Will you be vying for the coveted correspondent spot?
