I did some touristy stuff and saw the Chateau Ramezay Museum in Old Montreal. At the heart of Montreal’s life for more than 300 years, the Chateau Ramezay has been conserving and presenting our heritage since 1895. Whether you are a Montrealer or a visitor passing through, whatever your age, the doors to history are open to you. Our Museum offers you the opportunity to relive history through its permanent exhibition and its garden, and it also organizes many educational and cultural activities linked to the life of our community.
Jackets from Mackage I need another jacket like I need a hole in the head but these two from Mackage are pretty nice. The one with the architectural collar is wool. The other is nylon and packable. I like the idea of being able to pack up a jacket. I have a packable but it’s a lot more utilitarian and not very fashion. Mackage has a brand new online store now too. images: mackage.com
Melissa from Harper Collins send me the new book The One Hundred: A Guide to the Pieces Every Stylish Woman Must Own by Nina Garcia and illustrated by Ruben Toledo. Regular readers will remember that I review Nina’s other book, The Little Black Book of Style a while back. Nina decided to write the book because she is always asked what are the classic or must have pieces necessary for one’s wardrobe. So she put together a list of things she simply cannot live without. She goes on to say that this list isn’t the be all or end all and that a lot of self editing should be applied for your own personal style. She says the list is a guide and contains items that have lasted throughout the years. Nina always stresses the individual aspect of style in all her books and I appreciate that from her. It seems she not interested fashion clones. The book is beautifully illustrated of course. What I love about The One Hundred is that it’s full of …

I don’t usually get Rodarte. I appreciate their work and the complexity, but I’ve always been meh about them. I don’t know what it is about this Spring collection that has me excited. They have basically expanded and refined the look they presented during Spring 2008 and the Fall 2008 seasons. It just looks so slick and polished for Spring 2009. The presentation of the collection was brilliant and I have to admit, I’m really loving the clothes too. Some of it is totally unwearable, but who the fuck cares. After a week of mediocre shows, Rodarte definitely stands out. Check the video! image: thefashionspot.com
There was no red in this collection, just basic black in different textures and finishes. His work looks simple but it’s all in the details. I wish there was video. I love these pants!!!!!!!! I love that Rad, a Canadian, is sticking to his signature long and lean silhouette. You can find Rad’s stuff at Holt Renfrew and Reborn in Montreal. The line is unisex which I find really intriguing. The video is out for Jeremy Laing’s Spring 2009 collection. View it on Jeremy Laing | Swarovski Sparkles TV. There is also an interview you can watch too. images: thefashionspot.com
I had to have some Montreal smoked meat so I went to Schwartz’s.
I wonder why I’m questioning this now. I bought into the Balenciaga Lego shoes. I’m digging the new Miu Miu’s. And now Proenza Schouler is moving into the crazy shoe territory. See the rest of the show at Proenza Schouler Spring 2009 Ready-to-Wear Collection on Style.com
