This is why I hate Payless

Having a shoe break on you is a bitch. Having a shoe break on you after 5 wears turns me into a bitch. That is what happened to me at the most inconvenient time a few weekends ago. I was running late to meet friends for dinner; we had a reservation. I grabbed these yellow wedges I bought from Payless last year (they were perfect with what I was wearing). I’ve worn these shoes about 5 times in total and they were in like new condition (so I thought). I don’t have much luck at Payless (even though my friends do) but I found this pair and another white strappy sandal that I liked last summer. Just as I reach the subway the shoe’s strap breaks. I look down and I’m dumbfounded, how the hell did the strap break like this. Usually, good shoe manufacturers uses the shoe’s upper material and attaches it to the the metal ring needed to make the strap. Payless decided that elastic material was sufficient instead. This resulted in a …

Sometimes readers ask me questions. If they are of value to all my readers I post them online. If you have a question, please feel free to submit it using the contact form. I’ll definitely do my best to answer it. I want – I got reader Annie wrote: Hi Anita, I’m desperately looking for the Marc by Marc Jacobs Grovee Dr. Q purse in the brown colour. My friend’s birthday is this weekend and she’s been yearning for it. Do you know of any other store in Toronto aside from Holt who sells Marc by Marc? Thank you! I hope you don’t mind me sharing your question Annie! Holt Renfrew sells Marc by Marc handbags along with the Marc Jacobs line and Bloor Street is your best bet for selection. Holt Renfrew also carries Marc by Marc Jacobs womenswear, footwear, watches and jewellery. I did some searching on the net and found out that David’s Footwear also sells Marc by Marc handbags and shoes. I believe those are the 2 major players in Toronto. …

i want: Sergio Rossi Spring 2008 Shoes

Sergio Rossi Shoes I love these platform sandals from Sergio Rossi. The colour combos are spot on and they are unusual, very angular. I would wear these with a mini dress or skirt, they are perfect for showing off leg! Sphere Heel Sandals, I swoon at the ridiculousness of this shoe. I don’t think I’d ever wear something like this, but I do appreciate it. images: sergiorossi.com

Confessions

Sex in the City madness has gripped the city. I was suppose to attend a Sex and the City themed party but I just didn’t have the energy after the Chick Advisor Shop Crawl. To be completely honest, I don’t like Sex in the City. I watched a few seasons of the show but I got bored. It was never something I could relate to – four aging white women and their relationships in New York City. But I’m sure the movie will do well. Patrick Field has paired with Payless to cash in on the hype. They certainly aren’t my cup of tea and the style names are just plain obnoxious – heiress, empress, princess *shudder* and socialite. I’m not a big fan of Payless shoes, I never find styles that I like. Although I could say that for most shoe stores I walk into. Another thing is that I really don’t like the way they fit. I have two pairs of payless shoes and they are cute but not comfortable. However, these silver …
