Chanel Spring Summer 2012 Ad Campaign

I had to do a double take when these Chanel Spring Summer 2012 ad campaign shots came out. What the hell was Joan Smalls doing in a Chanel ad. My head was exploding (this was a good thing in this situation). First, Indian girls in the Chanel Pre-Fall 2012 show and now Joan Smalls in the latest ad campaign. I like this trend. As for this ad campaign overall. Joan doesn’t have as many solo shots as Saskia. The photos are lovely but ultimately pretty boring. i want: ela Spring Summer 2012 Handbags

The candy coloured M.I.L.C.K clutches from ELA handbags are so great. The colours are so vibrant and perfect for summer. I also love the black studded handbags in the ela Spring Summer 2012 collection. The Lady Bag is one of my favorites and in this fabrication it looks pretty cool. The small version is an option for those looking to scale down in size. ela is available at Chasse Gardée, Ewanika, La Merceria, rac and The Narwhal in Toronto. images: courtesy of ela

Dandi Maestre Spring Summer 2012

Dandi Maestre has once again created a visually stunning lookbook for the Spring Summer 2012 collection. Her photos are always very colourful with a wonderful cast of characters with interesting faces. Dandi is one of my favourite Toronto jewellery designers. Her pieces are handmade in Canada and use organic materials such as antlers, bull horn, rough amber and emeralds, reclaimed wood, natural seeds and nuts, elements found on shores, in rivers, jungles and forests. The Spring Summer 2012 collection is called Raw. “The raw beauty I find in people and nature inspires my new sculptural pieces. I see my work as artwork, where there isn’t anything too outrageous. I believe in uniqueness . Nature is unique, and so are my designs, each one of a kind, individual and raw. Beauty is in all of us and I want to make people feel this. My work is all about texture and imperfection, just as us.” -Dandi Maestre Dandi Maestre has a showroom in Toronto at 386 Huron Street. You can also purchase her designs online. See …

I want – I got’s ALDO Rise Spring Summer 2012 Top Picks

Aldo partnered with six designers for the Spring Summer 2012 collections. The collaboration was nameless previously but now it has a name, Aldo Rise. Participating for Spring Summer 2012 is JW Anderson, Preen, Faster Mark Fast, Libertine, Christian Cota and Cushnie et Ochs. Aldo created a great tumblr blog for the collection and enlisted the help of  Tommy Ton and The Coveteur to take lots of photos during fashion week. They captured a  lot of great images to see and the Aldo Rise Tumblr archive is a good place to start. I’m a big fan of the collection.  Here are my top picks.  It’s going to be hard to decide which pairs to pick up. Preen Faster Mark Fast > Libertine JW Anderson Christian Cota Aldo Rise hits stores March 8 , 2o12.  Watch this space for more details about availability. images: aldorise.tumblr.com

I want – I got’s Versace x H&M Top Picks

So, H&M x Versace is approaching. I’m sure many people will be lining up on November 18, 2011 to get a piece of this collection. I will not be one of them but I did get a preview of the collection at the H&M Toronto headquarters. “The collection for H&M is the essence of Versace. For the collaboration we’ve brought back from the archives, as well as from more recent collections, some of the icons of Versace, such as the bright prints, the Greek key and daring cuts. I can’t wait to see how H&M’s wide audience will make these pieces their own.” Donatella Versace. “Versace’s collection for H&M is a moment in fashion. It is full of strong pieces that stand out, with colours, prints and cuts that are clean and precise. The women’s collection is flattering and full of dresses, while the men’s collection is very sophisticated. When I think about Versace I think of iconic items. With this collection for H&M we’ve got the essence of Versace.” Margareta van den Bosch, creative …
