Wow, style has a great mix of models in their article, Style.com Calls Out Spring’s Top New Models. “Diversity” was the buzzword for Spring, and we’re happy to report that our top ten list is a multiculti mix—with just two new faces hailing from modeling’s most prolific breeding ground, Russia. The girls who caught our attention come from Senegal, China, India, and West Philly. As they say in Paris, vive la difference! If this is just buying into a trend, I hope it lasts indefinitely. The winner, Aminata Niaria pretty damn good.

I liked Hermes Spring 2008 campaign and they are continuing along the sames lines with the new ad. Mariacarla, I enjoy her work. I love her runway walk, she truly stomps. The Miu Miu campaign is out and while Vanessa looks beautiful, she can’t help make those clothes look any better. I do love the shoe ads though. The first ones are obnoxious enough. I’m loving the Jil Sander Ad Campaign. I was a fan of his collection this season. His architectural take on the collar had me hooked. Lara Stone looks amazing in these. Ipanema Gisele Bundchen sandal I always thought of the advertising campaigns and not the product with Gisele’s shoe company here. However, I saw some and thought there were cute. Surprisingly comfortable sandal and I use them a lot when walking to and from the office. I wore them to see Dark Knight in IMAX Saturday morning at 8:30am. They were perfect for standing in line at 7:30am with the rest of the geeks. The only thing I don’t like is the crystals embedded into the strap. I got these at Stoneridge in the Eaton Center. I think they were $25.

Fat police target Victoria’s Secret model So Karolina Kurkova has been blasted for being “too fat” by the Brazilian media after appearance on the runway. The photo above is from that show. I’m going on the record here: Karolina isn’t fat! However she’s not in top model shape at the moment and I’m actually surprised that she walked, considering the Brazillians have blasted other models for the same reasons before. Before you go crazy and start calling me names please remember SHE IS A PROFESSIONAL MODEL! With that carries some expectations and she didn’t live up to those expectations. It’s like she walked into it, Brazil is the probably the most body conscious place in the world. Anyways, I hope she doesn’t take it too hard. The business is full of rejection and negativity so I’m hoping she has a thick skin.

Thanks to Fashionista I just heard about this. This just in from a source: Steven Meisel has just shot an entire issue of Vogue Italia with all black models, hoping that other issues of Vogue start to diversify their own portfolios. Apparently, all of the photo shoots have already happened, as model bookers at various agencies have been contacted and sourced for new, beautiful, not-white girls — and now they’re twittering about how cool the issue will be. No word on when the issue will hit stands or who’s on the cover (Jourdan Dunn? Chanel Iman?), but whatever: Steven Meisel you rock my world!
Lauren from Ford emailed me to let me know about the Toronto stop on the cross country Ford Models Supermodel of the World Canada search. Ford Models Canada will partner with Maybelline, Diesel and Redken, to hold a cross-country scouting search in Vancouver, Toronto, Montreal, Calgary and Halifax. Scouts will be looking for fresh faces to compete in the Ford Models Supermodel of the World Canada Search. The winner will move on to compete in the Ford Supermodel of the World competition in January 2009.
