Yvan Rodic in Facehunter on NOWNESS.com

The Facehunter isn’t a blog I follow really. Street style blogs aren’t my thing even though I appreciate their impact and importance to fashion, blah, blah. I know who Yvan Rodic is of course and I’ve seen some of his work. This video from Nowness.com was a interesting look at what he does. He’s pretty cute and charming in this video. Classic Cocktails: A 1960s Soirée with Janie Bryant

The LCBO presented Classic Cocktails: A 1960s Soirée event which was held The Carlu in Toronto. Janie Bryant, the Emmy Award Winning Mad Men costume designer was in attendance and talked about the impact of 1960s fashion on current pop culture. I attended the event and managed to get some video of Janie talking. The lighting is so bad in the Carlu so please forgive how dark it is. I’m not going to apologize for the loud and rude crowd that talked over Janie Bryant the whole time. Poor form Toronto, poor form. I didn’t know what Janie looked like before the event and she is beautiful. She’s someone who can make St. John’s look hot because I would have never suspected they did her dress.

Vogue Italia February 2011 – The Black Allure

I’m not going to get all analytical about this shoot, the fashion industry and race. I do enough of that outside this space.  I’m just going to enjoy this beautiful spread and share it with people. When I cut my hair many people asked if I would ever go blonde. The answer is no but it looks good here.  The contrast is much nicer with her skin tone than mine. Eighth Generation x Chinese New Year

Louie Gong, the shoe artist I featured a few weeks back is celebrating the Year of the Rabbit. You will remember that Louie`s background is Nooksack, Squamish, Chinese and White. Although my family always lived on a reservation, Chinese New Year was one of our favorite holidays because it involved things that were implicitly “Chindian” – fireworks and food. – Louie Gong Learn more about Louie Gong and his shoes at the Eighth Generation website. image: courtesy of Louie Gong
