High fives by the magazine rack

So MJ and I are going to have dinner. We decide to stop at Indigo and check out the magazines. We freaked out when we discovered the Haute Couture issue of Gap Press were out. We snagged the last 2 copies and shreaked with joy. 8 glossy pages of Dior baby. I’ve come to realize that I hate looking at shows online. This is the second book I’ve purchased from Gap Press. I have to say that a glossy, ad-free book is the much better way to go. It was a little cheaper too, only $30 this time.

i got…

Gap Press Pret-a-Porter 2006-2007 Autumn & Winter Paris/London This magazine is awesome. All the shows from London and Paris are represented in one volume. The photography is beautiful. I can’t wait for the Haute Couture issue comes out. It’s a lot easier to browse this magazine instead of the many online offerings. It makes a great coffee table book also. It’s a little on the expensive side ($36), but if you love fashion it’s well worth it. Each season three issues are produced for Women’s collections: 1) Paris/London 2) Milan/New York 3) Tokyo/Barcelona/Madrid For Haute Couture and Menswear there is one issue each per season. I picked mine up at Indigo(Bay and Bloor) after a freaking wild goose chase around the city.

I’m not really a trend person, but I did latch on to the “white dress” phenomenon of S/S 2006, take this example from Chloe. I spent pretty much all spring and summer looking for that perfect white dress. Unfortunately, many I saw were too expensive, not quite right or just plain awful. I finally found what I was looking for on a recent trip to Stella Luna. I had always heard about this store, but just never made it to parkdale. This is by far the best vintage store in the city. I saw many items I liked.

Carnivale of Couture: Your best bargain

I usually read the Carnivale but never post. However this topic was perfect for me. Bargain Queen asks What is your best bargain? My best bargains are: 1. My Diesel Luna mules Retail $159.99 – Paid $20.00 2. My Diesel Sary boots Retail $209.99 – Paid $50.00 3. My new Chocolate Bossa Dress I imagine this can be considered a bargain, I paid a quarter of what it was actually worth.

i got: Chocolate Bossa Dress

Chocolate Bossa Dress This beauty is something I picked up at the Shopping Addicts Sample Sale on Wednesday. I checked the website before going to the sale because I was curious about the Brazilian clothing company Estudio Chocolate. I saw the pictures from the S/S 06 collection and drooled, never expecting to come face to face with this thing of beauty. I almost passed on the dress, but then decided to try it on. It was over at that point and now it’s hanging in my closet for the most perfect summer day. Check the back out after the jump

i got: Summer Soles

Summer Soles I read about Summer Soles shoe insoles in Lou Lou Magazine. They sounded intriguing. They claim to keep your feet dry in closed or open shoes. So I ordered them. To be honest I was skeptical. I was wrong, these insoles are amazing. They keep you feet nice and dry. They also feel really good. Wanna tip, check this page first before ordering.

i got…(Diesel Tulip Handbag)

Diesel Little Tulip Handbag I decided to reward myself with another handbag. On the weekend I visited Over the Rainbow and purchased this fun and colourful bag. It screams summertime fun and keeps me looking forward to warmer weather, sandals and summer dresses. Do not let the name fool you, this bag can hold a lot of stuff. It opens up to reveal a large zippered pocket in the middle.

i got: Air Cadet Overcoat

I was walking by Black Market on Tuesday and spotted a beautiful grey wool coat on the racks outside. I can spot a military jacket from 10 paces and blindfolded. It was my lucky day, I discovered a stash of RCAF Air Cadet overcoats. They are also referred to as Greatcoats The jacket also includes RCAF gold buttons, sweet. Price, you ready for this. 10 bucks. $11.50 with tax. SCORE! The best thing about this coat is the fit. The were made for adolescent boys, which translates to correct sizing for an adult woman with a military fetish. It’s not easy to find authentic military gear for a size 4. It’s a shame that this pictures make the coat so dark. The closest picture from the Internet I could find was this Picture taken from eBay If you are in the area you should take a look for yourself. There were about 10 more and in perfect condition. It’s just too bad it’s getting warm. Great find for next winter though. Black Market MEGA WAREHOUSE …

Secrets from your sister

So I decided to get a bra fitting on the weekend. Since I was in the Annex I ended up at Secrets from your sister. It was quite busy so there was a wait. It was well worth it. The staff are awesome. Friendly and helpful, their motto is “you won’t leave here with a bra that doesn’t fit”. I had lots of fun trying on many different bras. I also made some new friends Princesse Tam-Tam from France Charnos from the UK Liz from Brazil Calvin Klein used to be my favourite. No more, Princesse Tam-Tam has won my heart.
