i want: Velocite and Rita Shearling Jackets by Acne

I dream of two brands when it comes to outerwear, Moncler and Acne. One day I will own one of these kick ass Acne shearlings. They are so bad ass. The magenta shearling is called the Velocite and it’s an oversized moto jacket. This is the one I most covet as it covers the waist and is super roomy. Doesn’t it look warm as all hell. The cropped shearling moto jacket is called Rita. It’s the more fitted shearling. It looks warm too but I like the coverage the Velocite offers. The Rita would be my second choice of Acne shearling. You can find Acne shearlings at Jonathan+Olivia and TNT in Toronto. images: acnestudios.com

i want: Dagger Print b tee by Primary

Primary has a really cute fall winter 2012 – 2013 collection. I love the black and chartreuse Dagger Print b tee. Make a statement in our dagger print b tee with our fall signature chartreuse hue that curls out on the sides. A powerful office look with a fitted black skirt, or an easy fall blouse option paired with a pant. images: primaryny.com

I’m Still Obsessed with the Yves Saint Laurent Tribute Sandals

Yves Saint Laurent is now Saint Laurent Paris and the new website doesn’t have a Tribute shoe anywhere. There are rumour going around that the Tribute Sandal is being discontinued but according to WWD the Tribute line is being reworked and upgraded. I’m still obsessed with them and I hope they are “reworked” too much. With this upcoming design change the urgency to add a pair to my shoe collection has increased. In 2008 the YSL Tribute Sandals started to become the go to shoe for Editors and Celebrities. In my search for information regarding the Tribute’s entry to the market I came across a lot of celebrity references. Apparently, Julliane Moore was the first celebrity to start wearing them There are so many colour combinations and leather choices that I’m not particularly picky about which ones I do buy in the end. I’m not a hot pink person but these are my favourite of the bunch. The purple Tributes are second. images: lyst.com

Mulberry, Spinning a Yarn

This Mulberry documentary on the women who hand knit the chunky wool pieces from the Mulberry Autumn Winter 2012 collection is fashion porn. What a brilliant little film that takes you into the lives of those that make the clothing and their specialized skills. I love that Mulberry uses traditional British crafts. I’m now obsessed with getting myself a Mulberry sweater. Mulberry’s short documentary ‘Spinning a Yarn’ focuses on Margaret and Valerie – two of the women responsible for hand-knitting the thick, sheep’s wool pieces from the Mulberry Autumn Winter 2012 Catwalk Collection. Margaret and Valerie, knitting veterans with 70 years experience under her needles, speak about how they got into knitting, and what it means to them. Both women knit for Eribé, the Scottish knitwear design house who helped Mulberry find the perfect knitters for the complex and intricate pattern of its designs. images: mulberry.com

i want: A Biker Jacket by Sacai

Sacai by Chitose Abe is a favourite in I want – I got land. She has such a fantastic eye and uncanny ability to merge polar opposite styles together. These are dream clothes and she’s created my dream Biker Jacket. Cowhide biker jacket, long zips sleeves, three zip pockets, one flap pocket, belt with adjustable buckle, button tab on shoulders, closure by asymmetric zip. Taupe and black lining in cupro, wool and polyester fixed thanks to snap buttons, long sleeves, frill on front and bottom. I love the convertable nature of this jacket. Remove the frill if you want something simple and add it when the time is right. You can see it here on the runway in stunning white. The price however is the downside at $4500 from Colette. Holt Renfrew Bloor Street carries some Sacai pieces but I haven’t looked around lately to see if this was one of them. images: colette.fr

Herringbone Biker Jacket by Mr. Gentleman

i want: Herringbone Biker Jacket by Mr. Gentleman

One of my twitter friends let me know about these amazing Herringbone Biker Jacket by Japanese brand, Mr. Gentleman. It’s menswear and I’m in love. Mr. Gentleman is a menswear line based out of Japan. Designers, Takeshi Osumi (PHENOMENON) and Yuichi Yoshii (THE CONTEMPORARY FIX) teamed up to create the brand whose concept is basic menswear. The jacket retails for Â¥68,250 or about $900CDN. It’s sold out on The Contemporaryfix.com site which doesn’t really matter much to anyone outside of Japan because they don’t deliver internationally. I have to find my hands on some kind of reasonable facsimile or get it done custom. images: Contemporaryfix.com

i want: Monocle x Porter Tote Bag

A Monocle store is opening around my neighborhood. I spotted it walking home from the first night of Festival Music House. Every since then, I’ve been thinking about this simple tote. It’s not an it bag but the Porter Tote Bag. The Monocle store will open on October 18, 2012 in Little Italy.

i want: Arien by Dr Martens

I really want a pair of Church’s shoes but I came across these Dr Martens that I could equally love. The Arien style is part of the Creeper collection with a pointed toe and low profile Airwair sole. They are sturdy looking too and would make a nice seasonal substitute for my Rokin derby shoes which can’t handle the winter. The pink Arien’s are pretty sweet too and add a fun, quirky twist to the shoe. They are $149 available online or at the Queen Street store. images: drmartenscanada.ca

i want: Rimowa x Moncler

Oh man. My favourite suitcase company has paired up with my favourite outerwear company to make my dream suitcase. Behold this Rimowa x Moncler beauty priced at $1,700.00 :(. It was available for purchase online at moncler.com but I think it’s sold out already. Images: moncler.com

i want: Strappy Booties by B Brian Atwood

I haven’t had a drool worthy shoe moment for a long time, then I saw these crazy, beautiful booties on the Intermix website.  These exclusive to Intermix booties are from B Brian Atwood which is Brian Atwood’s lower priced shoe line. I love the cognac colour of these shoes but I know the 5″ stiletto heel is just a bit too high for me and the platform is only a quarter inch. I know my limits and I’ll be satisfied with just staring. These are available exclusively at IntermixOnline.com. I’m not sure if they will be available at the Toronto location. images: intermixonline.com

Flare Magazine x Nadege Macarons

Macarons and fashion are always mentioned together. I should be over everything related to macaron but I’m not. They are just too damn tasty to ignore. Flare and Nadège teamed up to create macaron based on shades from the fall winter 2012 – 2013 collections. You can see all 10 of the creations at Flare.com. Toronto’s top macaron maker Nadège Nourian, of Nadège Patisserie, has created one-of-a-kind shades just for FLARE inspired by the season’s hottest hues. “This is one of the most challenging projects I’ve ever worked on,” shared Nourian while on set for our macaron photo shoot, “but it was incredibly fulfilling and so much fun to do.” See these delicious confections paired with top looks from the international runways for a sweet visual treat. Four of the ten custom marcaron created for the editorial are available for purchase at Nadège Patisserie for a limited time. The flavours are (top to bottom in above photo): Chocolate cherry, inspired by Givenchy , Grand Cru chocolate from Brazil, inspired by Balenciaga; Cotton candy, inspired by …

Chanel x Fashion’s Night Out Nail Polish

Chanel is creating another Fashion’s Night Out collection. Last year, Les Jeans de Chanel was only available in the US. I had a friend track them down for me. Luckily, Canadians will be able to purchase them at Chanel Bloor Street, Holt Renfrew Bloor Street and Holt Renfrew Vancouver this time around on September 6, 2012. Les Twin-Sets de Chanel is a three shade collection of lipstick and nail polish duos. I really like Provocation and Infidèle with Provocation being my favourite. I’ll be tracking those two down on September 6. images: fashionmagazine.com

i want: Tunic by Dinh Ba

This knit tunic by Montreal designer, Dinh bá popped up in my Facebook newsfeed. It got me thinking of how cosy knits are in the fall with pleasure instead of summertime disdain. i’m not ready to purchase knits yet but this tunic can be found at distill gallery in Toronto. image: distillgallery.com

OPI x James Bond – Man with a Golden Gun

OPI is the collaboration kings in the nail world. I think OPI Man with a Golden Gun will be the very best. That’s right, OPI and James Bond. OPI is celebrating James Bond’s Golden Anniversary with this special polish and a whole collection based on Skyfall, the latest Bond movie due out this year. Man with a Golden Gun is a top coat that contains 18 karat gold and comes in a limited edition gold coloured bottle. It will be released in October and will retail for $37.50. I need to get my hands on this badly. image: OPI Facebook

Janelle Monae is the next Covergirl

I rarely pay attention to new beauty ads but this one involves Janelle Monae. She’s now the latest Covergirl and has a huge advertising spread in the September issue of Vogue. “I believe it’s time that women truly owned their superpowers and used their beauty and strength to change the world around them,” said Monáe. “One of my core values is to help redefine what it means to be a strong and beautiful woman in the music and fashion worlds and to empower the wonderful things that make us unique. Becoming a COVERGIRL is truly an honor and a gift: it opens up a new platform for me to inspire women to feel stronger, braver and more beautiful inside and out.” “Ever since Janelle made her electrifying arrival on the music scene, she has captured our imaginations, stirred our souls, and made us all move our feet,” said Esi Eggleston Bracey, VP and General Manager, COVERGIRL Cosmetics. “Janelle is a true force of energy and a beautiful spirit who truly delights in her creative journey, …

i want: Duck Bag and Backpack by Baggu

Backpacks are such a huge trend right now and I’ve been overloaded with backpack pitches. Now I’m interested in backpacks. I have an MEC pack that’s very good but not stylish in any way. It’s also too big. I’m currently enjoying a Nella Bella backpack from the Fall Winter 2012 collection but I could use one a bit smaller. Baggu creates simple cotton handbags in vibrant colours. I love the simplicity of these packs and the colour schemes. The Duck Bags are really cute too. Baggu bags can be found at Magic Pony in Toronto and The Drake General Store. images: magic-pony.com

i want: Maryam Keyhani Fall Winter 2012 – 2013

Ever since reading Overdressed, I’ve been thinking about spending my money with a bit more caution when it comes to fashion. High on my priorities are well made, wearability and country of origin. I’ve decided that less is more and I want to stop those random H&M or Zara purchases and save for a couple of big ticket purchases a season. The fall, I want a Maryam Keyhani necklace. Maryam’s work is as stunningly beautiful as she is. I really feel like these necklaces portrays her aesthetic perfectly. And who doesn’t want a part of that. Maryam’s necklaces feature folded silks, structured metal and strands of pearls. Maryam Keyhani is available at Holt Renfrew in Toronto. images: torontolife.com

Moncler S Fall Winter 2012 – 2013

Japanese designer Chitose Abe of Sacai has another great Moncler S collection for the fall winter 2012 – 2013 season. I’m dreaming of a winter jacket right now. M The fall winter 2012 – 2013 collection is described as: Moncler S is a project which this season is set to become even broader for an interpretation of the Moncler world that is original and contemporary. Little coats and capes open into large flared and enveloping skirts. Diamond quilting effects and quilted rolls alternate in the same garment, providing movement to surfaces and modelling the figure. Careful research goes into materials that underscore the purity of the design. Ultra soft deperlant flannel in prized New Zealand merino wool is both waterproof and stain-proof. Extreme attention is also lavished on the details with the bell and flower-bottom sleeve as unmistakeable style code of Moncler S. I love that these designs break the mold of the traditional down filled jacket. After seeing the rise of Canada Goose and others over several years, I’m thoroughly bored of the silhouette. …

i want: Marni Winter Edition 2012 Sunglasses

I love that some PRs have caught on to the fact that I love sunglasses just a little too much. My Mom asked me how many pairs I have the other day. I sheepishly replied eight. Now most people would say that`s probably a little excessive but I have no plans on keeping my collection at 8. Marni`s 2012 Winter Edition Sunglasses are on my hot list right now. I love the colours and flower motif. The main feature of the sunglasses from the MARNI WINTER EDITION 2012 EYEWEAR COLLECTION is the contrast between opaque and shiny used for a flower motif on relief in the upper part of the frame. Opaline and watery colors range from bright green, pink, yellow and red to sand and brown, while temples are in contrasting solid colors. I`m not sure which retailers in Canada will be stocking these but they are available online at marni.com and in all Marni Boutiques. images: courtesy of Marni

Le Monde d’Hermes Autumn Winter 2012

At the beginning of every season I trek down to the Bloor Street Hermès and pick up my copy of their lovely in house magazine, Le Monde d’Hermès. The Autumn Winter 2012 issue looks fun with a specially commissioned editorial by photographer, Olivia Bee. Olivia Bee, 18, is a photographer. Her blog is the showcase for her photographs and videos and shares the dreams and experiences of a young girl. Between naivety and naughtiness, she creates her own arcadia and reinterprets fairy tales with all the freshness and impertinence of a teenager. For Le Monde d’Hermès autumn/winter 2012 she has shot a bucolic tale of silk. In an enchanted landscape Olivia has cast her own spell on the Hermès scarf, now transformed into giant bows on the heads of pink-haired punk fairies, then a uni-horn for her horse or a silk kerchief for a thoroughly modern day Prince Charming. Hermès loved the story so much it became the cover and a short film was commissioned. I`m a sucker for Hermès scarves so I`m interested to …

i want: Linda Farrow Luxe Fall Winter 2012 – 2013 Sunglasses

I haven’t added any new sunglasses to my collection this summer. It’s kinda making me depressed in a weird way. Karir Eyewear is bringing some great snakeskin Linda Farrow Luxe sunglasses to the store this upcoming fall. The Linda Farrow Luxe collection features handmade sunglasses using high end materials like horn, leather, titanium and snakeskin. The shapes are classic but the snakeskin makes them different from the rest. images: courtesy of Karir
