Alexander McQueen Fall 2010 – 2011 Shoes

Alexander McQueen Fall 2010 - 2011 Shoes

The ornate nature of these Alexander McQueen Fall 2010 – 2011 shoes has me speechless. The Object Fetish by SHOWstudio: Alexander McQueen Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 Shoes video blew me away but I didn’t realize how extensive the ornate shoe collection was.

I’d love to see these up close. I’m so curious about the materials used. The heels look like they are made of plastic.  I can’t believe they would be some kind of metal, seems that would be too heavy.  I wonder how long some of these embroidered pieces take to produce?

Gap Premium Pant Collection Fall 2010

Gap Premium Pant Collection Fall 2010

Gap invited media over one morning to check out the Premium Pant Collection. The response was big and everyone was posting and tweeting about the pants. I contributed to that myself.

Gap Premium Pant Collection Fall 2010

There are 5 different styles of pants in your typical Gap styles: Boy Fit, Modern Boot, Curvy, Perfect Trouser and Slim Cropped.  All the styles came in black and some had navy blue or grey options.  Each person got a pair for our own evaluation.  The Slim Cropped style drew me in and I opted for that.  They only came in black.  I was really happy with the fit and stretchy material.  They are the type of pants you buy a size smaller because they will stretch out.  They didn’t do a very good job of repelling my cat’s hair so I think the lint resistance thing is a little suspect. After washing the fit stays true and the colour doesn’t fade.

There were some predictions that the Slim Cropped would sell out. I believed this would happen; the pants fit very well. Many others felt the Boy Fit pants would be the winner. I don’t know what the outcome was but in my mind the Slim Cropped are king. I went to Gap this past Saturday and tried on the Boy Fit and it wasn’t pretty. They fit great in the legs but the waist was much to big. Going down a size would have been impossible and I didn’t feel like tailoring pants from Gap.  I didn’t see the Really Skinny style at the preview and I wonder if they are available in Canada.  It seems Gap doesn’t ship some things here as I found out with the new Design Edition Pierre Hardy pony skin wedges.  Canada is getting the boots but in some boring leather finish and not the pony.  Booo.

Pants in the collection are $59.50-$69.50.

Sorel Spring 2011

I was surprised to hear that Sorel is expanding it’s footwear line to include casual shoes for Spring 2011.

This season marks the brand’s inaugural spring line, which includes eight new looks for men and women, as well as six carryover styles that have been lightened up and modified for spring. For women, the collection focuses on vulcanized sneakers, Mary Jane shoes and sporty ballet flats, as well as fashion boots and rainboots. For men, there are sneakers, tasseled boat shoes and rugged, casual boots. Each style, priced between $70 and $100, pays homage to Sorel’s history, from the rubberized toecaps on the sneakers to the stitching on the heels.

And Koeberle already has plans for spring ’12. “In Sorel’s future, there may be a heel of some sort, perhaps an open-toe [shoe/sandal hybrid]. It’s key to stay true to who we are and not walk away from our heritage,” she said. “But the opportunity is limitless.”

I’m not really jazzed on the collection but I do think the Sorel rainboots are super cute.  I do really like the look of the first shoe on the right.
