Rockaway Perforated Wedge Booties by Madison Harding
Madison Harding Rockaway Perforated Wedge Booties

I love the metal lace hooks on these boots.  Pair that with the perforated finish and you have a hot little wedge boot.  It also comes in cream. Madison Harding is a New York based footwear brand.  Created by college friends Hilary Rosenman and Barri Budin.

You can find the Rockaway Perforated Wedge Booties online at Shopbop.com and Urban Outfitters.

PlastiChic Watches and their Doppelgangers

PlastiChic Watches

I received a PlastiChic watch after being pitched by their PR. The simple digital display and shape peaked my interest.  I love colourful watches and I’m usually always wearing my neon orange Toywatch. PlastiChic seemed liked an accessible way to enjoy a colourful watch. A Toy Watch is $200+ and PlastiChic are much cheaper.  PlastiChic watches are made from silicone and come in 19 colours.  They weight 10 grams and are water-resistant. They are the kind of watch that would look great stacked on top of  each other in wild colours.

The packaging of the PlastiChic watches is pretty slick. I had a bit of trouble getting the watch out but  I was really impressed with the test tube design. It’s easy to appeal to the science nerd in me.

There are three sizes available. They will retail from $22 – $40. The Bay will be carrying PlastiChic starting July 1, 2010. They are available in Toronto at
The Little Party Shoppe
2566 Yonge Street

Ra Sun Spa
388 Richmond Street West

There is a funny coincidence I had with PlastiChic watches. I wrote about picking up two watches at Mark’s as part of my Marksover experience. These two watches looked identical to the PlastiChic one.

PlastiChic Watch and WindRiver Outfitting Co watches

The WindRiver watches from Mark’s didn’t have the PlastiChic branding all over it, but it did have one word “Ion”. It lead me to a company called Ion Watch USA which carries watches very similar to PlastiChic. They even contain the same health claim about the mineral tourmaline.   It was curious.  There wasn’t a broad selection of colour in Mark’s and the packaging was uninspiring. PlastiChic wins hands down in the colour and packaging war. The WindRiver watches cost $9.99 if you are willing to sacrifice colour options and slick presentation. How much different are the two brands? I can only say I lost one of the WindRiver watches to water damage a day after getting them. The PlastiChic watch is still going strong.

i want: Spring Summer 2010 Bucket Bags

The other type of handbag I’ve been obsessing over is the bucket bag. I have no idea why they are calling to me at this moment.

MATT & NAT – Commix Drawstring Bag

These are a few of the more interesting ones I’ve seen.

UPDATE(May 4, 2010): I saw the black version of the MATT & NAT bucket bag for sale at Over the Rainbow. It’s pretty fun in person. I like it.

UPDATE(May 10, 2010): I saw the Marc By Marc Jacobs bucket bag at Holt Renfrew on the weekend. It’s pretty nice in person also.

The Smooth Co. at Holt Renfrew

Smooth Co at Holt Renfrew

I went to the launch of The Smooth Co. for men at Holt Renfrew. The Smooth Co. looks to fill the void that Modern Amusement left in the store when they went belly up. The price points are lower and more accessible.

Smooth Co at Holt Renfrew

Born in the sand and saltwater, TSC effortlessly blends modern style and wearable ease. We are inspired by love for a lifestyle that spans from the most private of beaches to the busiest of cities around the globe. The line radiates a subtle casual air in every situation, while maintaining a strong tie to our roots in the ocean sides of Southern California.

Smooth Co at Holt Renfrew

The line is very casual. Everything has that aged washed look. I like the Oversized cotton hoodie and the Shawl Collar Chambray Summer Parka.

Yes, of course The Smooth Co. created a spring summer 2010 video:

Prada Menswear Spring Summer 2010 Ad Campaign

Prada Menswear Spring Summer 2010 Ad Campaign

I really like the Prada Menswear Spring Summer 2010 Ad Campaign. The images tie into the short film Prada created with Chinese artist Yang Fudong.

Featuring young men gathered in Shanghai, dressed in Prada meanswear, the black and white film portrays a timeless, dreamlike realm where anything is possible. Inspired by Chinese adage that “the whole year’s works depends on a good start in the spring”, it is a bold and beautiful film represents an exciting new direction for Prada’s visual communications at the start of the season(source).
