Donna Karan is a designer who I think is good but I don’t really pay attention too. I used to think she wasn’t my style but I wondering after seeing this pre-fall 2011 collection from her.
Military influences and bodycon dressing are two the the easiest ways to my fashion heart. I’m loving the colour palette and styling too. Donna Karan is carried at Holt Renfrew.
Prada and Steven Meisel, a match made in ad campaign heaven. What incredible and vibrant shots for one of my favourite collections of the spring summer 2011 season.
The more I see these shoes, the more I fall in love with them.
I heard that these great sunglasses will not be produced for retail. I’m really sad cause I had them lined up to be my next crazy pair.
Oh MAC collaborations, they are always so much fun. Wonder Woman, can you believe this.
Banish any thought of being a Plain Jane: M∙A∙C and Wonder Woman have joined forces! For Spring 2011, take a trip to Paradise Island with a legendary line up of super-sized Mineralize Skinfinish, bold Eye Shadow quads, Pigment, Opulash, lipsticks and oversized Lipglass, jumbo-big Powder Blush and Penultimate Eye Liner, Nail Lacquer and Lash inspired by the larger-than-life Bold Babe. Dashing and dazzling, the iconic super heroine reminds us that inside every woman is a Mighty Aphrodite full of courage, confidence and charisma. Kaboom! Mission Accomplished!
Wonder Woman will always be associated with Lynda Carter in my mind. I grew up watching the 70s television show. I never got the invisible plane or the truth lasso but she was strong and had bulletproof gold bracelets.

This isn’t the complete collection so you’ll have to check out the other offering when the collection hits the stores in North America on Feburary 11, 2011 and internationally on March 11, 2011. The bright blue nail polish is on my list too.
I’m very excited about the coloured mascara. Apparently the pigment is very strong for these colours.
Another great thing to come out of the Prada spring summer 2011 collection is the handbags. It was all out colour.
They are simple bag shapes, made out of cotton and probably priced a bit on the high side. That doesn’t stop me wanting the schoolboy like satchels at all.
I like hearing about Canada-only collaborations. This time OPI, PUMA Canada and Browns Shoes have teamed up to bring exclusive products to the Canadian market.
April marks the spring/summer 2011 launch of exclusive PUMA ballerina flats for Browns Shoes and B2. To celebrate this, PUMA Canada teamed up with OPI to create a special gift with purchase at select Browns Shoes and B2 locations. Limited to only 50 bottles per participating store, PUMA Red by OPI is sure to go fast! (while quantities last, some restrictions apply.)
So Brown Shoes and PUMA Canada have teamed up to create a set of exclusive ballerina flats not sold in any other store. In turn PUMA Canada called on nail giant OPI to come up with the PUMA Red nail polish.
I’m not into ballet flats so the shoes do nothing for me. I’m intrigued by this retail move. Technically over collaborations but I cant help but get excited by ones that involve the Canada market like this.
I discovered this fascinating video of an artist, Louie Gong, whose medium is sneakers, typically Vans and Chuck Taylors.
Louie’s work is very beautiful. I don’t think I’d even want to wear them outside, just put them in a glass box for display purposes. His aesthetic has resonated with people because he’s currently not taking any more orders right now. Business must be booming and I can imagine each pair of shoes takes a lot of time.

So, Proenza Schouler has been my favourite Pre-fall 2011 collection so far. Zero + Maria Cornejo pre-fall 2011 collection is also among my favourites. I think it’s all about the print for me right now.
Zero + Maria Cornejo always has fashion forward cuts that don’t forget wearability and comfort.
You can find Zero + Maria Cornejo at Holt Renfrew and Jonathan + Olivia.
I’m trying to organize my gmail account so I’ve started adding filters. The number of ways to filter PR pitches is working pretty good I think. Now that I’m getting a bit organized I rediscovered this great video of Janelle Monáe and Karl Lagerfeld chatting that Marisa from Atlantic Records send me way back in mid December. It’s pretty cute.
I love, love Janelle Monáe. Amazing musician with perfect style. This post just isn’t complete without some videos and photos.

Tightrope
Tightrope live on Letterman. This gives me chills.
The winners, announced by DANIER CEO, Jeffrey Wortsman, received cash prizing in the amount of: $2,000 split between two third-place winners; Robyn Gemzik from Calgary and Meghan Erin from Edmonton); $3,000 for second-place, Ottawa native, Jessica Tep; and $5,000 for first-place winner Andrea Dineen, who fused her fine art background from London, Ontario with a fresh fashion design perspective to snag the top seat. Dineen’s design will also be sold in select DANIER retail locations across the country this coming fall, offering immeasurable exposure to this young design talent.

I was right with my one choice, Andrea Dineen. Her jacket was just so beautiful and detailed. I thought Danier would pass on it because of the production value. I’m so glad that didn’t affect the decision making. I’m going to want this jacket myself come fall.
†I am extremely honoured to have my work chosen as the winner of this competition; I am thrilled at the thought that my design will be on sale at DANIER this fall and can’t wait to see it being worn on the street.†said Andrea Dineen
I love the Danier Design Challenge. It’s great to see the student’s garments and their creativity.
“We are excited to see that the second year of our DANIER DESIGN CHALLENGE with Ryerson University’s School of Fashion has once again unveiled such amazing young talent. We hope that this competition will serve as the Canadian public’s first introduction to the next generation of great Canadian designers. †said DANIER CEO, Jeffrey Wortsman.
Juma’s spring summer 2011 collection is there best yet in my opinion. I remember getting a preview last summer and freaking out. The collection is inspired by Alia’s and Jamil’s time in Africa. The collection is really print heavy and they’ve made some great choices. I love the flamingos. Jamil send me a bunch of the lookbook photos so I thought I’d make a gif of the entire collection. Voila.
I took some photos at their spring summer 2011 fashion presentation in October at The Spoke Club.
Yes, yes, of course the jewellery is great too. I have to say that I love the presentation of this lookbook, it was well executed. The combination of artistic shot and product shot is very effective. There is a lot of effects on the photos but they don’t distract from how the jewellery looks.
I saw a few pictures of the latest Laurel Wreath collection from Fred Perry on twitter. This women’s collection is created by award winning British Designer, Richard Nicoll and is his first for the brand. I liked it and I got my hands on the full lookbook.
The press release included some prices for key pieces and the range is from $115 – $295. I can see all this stuff paired with some creepers. I really have those on the mind right now.
“Richard was the perfect designer for the brand to partner. His signature style of feminising traditionally masculine shapes and silhouettes suited us perfectly. Like most people who work with and for the brand he is a true fan and has an understanding and respect of Fred Perry’s unique history and heritage.†John Flynn, MD Fred Perry, 2010
Pucci is right on that 70s trend. I love the different hues of reds. The tailored looks, especially the wide leg pants are what excited me about this collection. The prints are nice but secondary to me. A little strange considering the label.
It’s surprising that the bags I like from Bottega Veneta’s Resort 2011 collection are canvas. There is something about this print that just draws me in.
Normally, I would be an Alexander Wang fan but I’m not liking Pre-Fall 2011. I was only interested in these two looks. Even the shoes look a little meh to me. Spring 2011 wasn’t on my radar either but I tend to change my mind when I see things in the store. However the denim is not that I ‘m interested in at all. Accessories maybe? I’m curious to see what fall winter 2011 – 2012 will bring. Hopefully something more compelling.
These glitter brogues by Miu Miu are so much fun. They are the perfect accent to a menswear inspired outfit. I’ve seen these ones at Holt Renfrew on Bloor.
When clogs came back into fashion I dismissed them. I’ll never wear these. It’s something I say to myself often and the opposite is usually the result. My thirst for platforms has brought me to Jeffrey Campbell and the Solvang Clog, which I bought at Chasse Gardee on Boxing Day. It’s a very comfortable shoe and gives me that extra height.
You can’t expect perfection every season from Celine. I liked about half of the Pre-Fall 2011 collection with most of the patchwork, denim and satin pieces getting the thumbs down. I enjoyed her more traditional Celine pieces.
The mod influence was fun. Pair a couple of these looks with creepers and I’m all over it. Hello early 90s and my patent leather creeper like Dr. Martens. The pointy heels almost looked like creepers in some photos.
Phoebe Philo can make me love animal print and not many can. I can’t wait to see the accessories report because these clutches with the fur tails can’t be it. I wonder if there will there be any leopard? images: style.com
