Derick Chetty of The Toronto Star named me one of Toronto’s Best Dressed for 2011. Yay!
I wasn’t expecting this when Derick emailed me a month ago. This is my first best dressed listing and so far things have been positive. Coworkers got a kick out of it and I know my Mom loved it. I’ve done the smart thing and stayed away from all the comments on thestar.com. Really no point in reading the hateraid about something so insignificant in the whole scheme of things.
Choosing the outfit was a nightmare. I’ll be honest about that.
Preen Resort 2012 is the stuff that dreams are made of. I’m truly, madly and deeply in love with what Justin Thorton and Thea Bregazzi have got going on for this resort season. The collection has loose Japan references influenced by a kimono Thea bought many years ago.
The Preen Resort 2012 collection can be pre-order till June 22, 2011 on Moda Operandi. Their collection photos are amazing, check it out before they are gone.
I missed the Danier Fall Winter 2011 – 2012 preview a few weeks ago. I wanted to see the new line OBJECT created by George Antonopoulos for Danier. I had twitter to keep me updated that day as I slaved away at the office. The lookbook images are pretty damn good looking. These are my top picks from OBJECT by George Antonopoulos for Danier Fall Winter 2011 – 2012.
I didn’t know what to expect from OBJECT exactly. I know George. Â His style and taste is impeccable. It would only make sense that OBJECT reflect his sensibilities. Â I’m in love.
I love the contrast in textures in pieces.  The menswear influence is quite strong. I’m glad to see that I could easily wear most of this stuff to the office without much of a side glance from my coworkers.  They know me too well nowadays.
I have some serious thinking to do this summer about my fall Danier purchases with OBJECT, Greta Constantine and Mark Fast coming. It might be time to expand the leather options in my wardrobe.
Thank god I was burning the midnight oil last night so I could get this post up. H&M is teaming up with Donatella Versace for the next designer collaboration.
H&M is proud to announce that its fall 2011 designer collaboration will be with one of the world’s most legendary fashion brands, Versace. Designed by its creative director Donatella Versace, the exclusive collection will look back to the vibrant heritage of the brand, full of leather, print, colour and exuberance in exclusive materials at fantastic H&M prices. The collection will include lines for women, men and selected pieces for the home. The collection will be released in North America on Saturday, November 19th. It will be sold in about 300 stores worldwide as well as online. In addition, Donatella Versace has also designed a pre-spring collection for H&M which will be exclusively available in countries with H&M online sales from January 19th, 2012.
“I am thrilled to be collaborating with H&M and to have the opportunity of reaching their wide audience. The collection will be quintessential Versace, perfect for H&M and Versace fans everywhere,†says Donatella Versace.
“Versace is one of the most important brands of recent times and their collection for H&M will be glamorous and flamboyant – everything Versace stands for. Donatella Versace is sharing with us iconic designs from the archives. This is such a celebratory collaboration and is perfect for the festive season,†says Margareta van den Bosch, creative advisor at H&M.
For H&M, Donatella Versace has looked back to the archives to reinterpret some classic Versace designs. The womenswear collection will be dominated by dresses that express the spirit of the season, featuring studded leather, silk and colourful prints, and accessories including high heels and costume jewelry. The men’s collection will focus on sharp tailoring, including the perfect tuxedo, as well as belts and jewelry for men. For the first time in a designer collaboration at H&M, the collection will include home decor pieces including pillows and a bedspread.
This choice came out of left field for me but I look forward to the end result.
I’m totally obsessed with the Yves Saint Laurent Tribute Sandals. Playing in Shrimpton Couture’s Closet has taught me that I need these shoes in my life. A towering platform paired with the ability to match with any outfit, this is perfection. Yves Saint Laurent sandals also come in all the colours of the rainbow. These green leather and coral patent ones are so fun.
Prada PR are lovely people who keep me in the loop. I get a lot of updates about celebrities wearing the clothing that I enjoy receiving but don’t post about usually. However, Jennifer Garner in the Prada “Made in India” dress changed my mind.
Last year, I wrote about the Prada “Made in …†Project. A limited edition collection that partners with artisans from across the world. The ‘Made in India’ collection dress is handmade in workshops dedicated to Chikan. It’s an ancient type of Indian embroidery noted for its light textiles and floral motifs in delicate cotton thread.  The green dress is lovely but I had to include the celebrity photo for the other colourway. It’s beautiful.
Pains me to put a celebrity on the blog but the colour of this dress is really nice.
I’m now obsessed with YSL Tributes sandals after wearing them. Such a great shoe as it has the platform height I love and they go with anything. I’m kicking myself for not picking a pair up on sale many years ago.
The Prada Minimal Baroque sunglasses have been my obsession since the spring summer 2011 collections hit the Milan runways last September. I originally wanted the crazy blue and white ones. They’d make a great addition to my crazy sunglasses collection.
It didn’t look like the blue ones would be coming up to Canada in any major quantities so I decided on the tortoise shell Minimal Baroque sunglasses instead.
My favourite Prada SA John helped The Oracle and I decide between the two offerings, black and tortoise. I liked the lens shade better in the tortoise and they were a bit more exciting than basic black.
