Designer denim isn’t dead. Holt Renfrew and Hudson have teamed together to bring Hudson Jean’s first high end collection. This collection differs from regular Hudson collections because the pieces are hand made using raw denim and the process is labour intensive. With the new Collection I wanted to reinvent the idea of traditional denim and tops—its an anti uniform approach. Each piece has so much individuality and lets the wearer express her own style and personality. It is the roots of the HUDSON “way of life”. The Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 collection from Danier is out. Some of my favourite pieces are their collaborations with John Hillifer, winner of Danier Design Challenge 2010 and the Raphael Mazzucco Mixed Media Montage collection.  The selection of pieces I like are all very motorcycle inspired. I’m loving the leather dress and Celine inspired black leather tshirt. i want: Acne Studios Fall 2010 – 2011 Dresses

I’m loving these dresses from Acne for fall 2010.  Ara, the short, sexy leather number would be a great edition to my closet that is lacking shorter hems.  It sounds divine after reading the description. Strapless, short and futuristic leather A-line bustier dress with a zipped detailed skirt. Inner top body is built up like a corset with bonings. Inner grosgrain ribbon with hook and eye closure holds the waist. Skirt part has two front zippers with inserts, which allows for skirt width adjustments. Hemline finishes just below the hips. Fit is short and narrow The drapey Pluto and Omega are my typical hemline and great for the office. I love the silk styles Alpha and Atlantis are just great LBDs.  I’ve recently discovered that the key to wearing silk dresses is about wearing some shapewear or a great slip underneath.    Atlas is another fun short dress that uses a stretch crepe fabric for the top, the bust and skirt are in a fused stiff fabric. I learned about the Corsage Project way to late last year to post about it or volunteer. This year I’m on top of my game and I’ve volunteered already. I don’t know why this organization struck a chord with me so much. I went to my prom (I was one of those sole prom goers) and didn’t think much of it. Although it was fun talking to the teaching staff hammered out of my tree. Despite my ambivalent feeling about prom I knew I wanted to help out. Mission To provide formal gowns and accessories, free of charge, to Toronto area high school girls who are unable to purchase their own prom attire. Background The Corsage Project was founded in 1999 as a nonprofit organization that works in partnership with the Children’s Aid Foundation. The founders believe that every high school girl should have the opportunity to celebrate the milestone of her high school graduation with pride and in style. I visited Fawn Boutique on the same day I visited Chasse Gardée. I went crazy with the Olympus E-PL1 and took a bunch of pictures of the spring 2010 new arrivals. I talked to Kasha about the new items. She pointed out great pieces from newly acquired label SHIN, the Line Knitwear leather jackets, the new Complex Geometries and [Blank] denim. I was drooling over pretty much everything in the store. It’s my favourite store in Toronto and I love Kasha’s buying. She is such a great curator of clothing. i got: A Fun and Firty Summer Dress

I actually bought this dress last year. I noticed it in the window display of Zara. I was immediately drawn to the print. The Oracle though it was a good find and so I rushed in and got a sale associate to find me the dress. I wanted it at any costs, even if she had to get in there and strip it off the mannequin. It’s only things I have from Zara that was full price. I love Zara during sale time. When I got this picture back from Sangria Saturday fun this past weekend, I realized the power of the print on this dress. I haven’t had any pictures that displayed the print like this, so I never really noticed. I felt compelled to share it with you. It was very windy when this photo was taken, there is no New Look skirt action happening here. This dress can be a challenge in the wind, lol.

Through twitter I discovered a locally based online vintage store called Shrimpton Couture. They focus on luxury items and but there are many beautiful dresses and accessories that start at $125. In addition to vintage pieces Shrimpton Couture sells reworked vintage and one of a kind jewellery. Expedited shipping is free in Canada! Shrimpton Couture also writes a vintage column for Herald de Paris. Here are some of my i wants from Shrimpton Couture, seriously drool worthy stuff. The one I covet most is the Restored Couture Flapper. This is a truly stunning couture level 1920s dress that has been fully restored. All the seams and beading have been re-inforced and the collar has been refinished with a silver silk satin ribbon edging. The main body of the dress is the original fabric but each panel was meticulously replaced and the fabric matched exactly. 2006 McQueen Dress – need I say more. I love the image on the landing page for Jeremy Laing website. It doesn’t look as impressive in this image so I suggest you click on the Jeremy Laing link to get a look at it in its glory. I just wanted to mention the image because it was so striking, but this is an i want post and the object of my affection is Jeremy Laing’s Fall 2009 – 2010 collection. I love it when Jeremy posts the collection on his site. You get photos from another angle and get to see some the details that you’d miss otherwise. There is a lot of beautiful details in this collection. Doesn’t this just scream wear me. The gloves, the little swish of the skirt, the freaking collar. I want!
