ELLE Decoration Suite by Jean Paul Gaultier

ELLE Decoration Suite by Jean Paul Gaultier

Jean Paul Gaultier is collaborating with French furniture brand Roche Bobois. It will be released in the second half of the year. Gaultier was invited to renovate Elle Decoration suite which is situated on the top floor of the Cité de l’Architecture et du Patrimoine in Paris. It was a former apartment designed by Jacques Carlu, the architect behind the Palais Chaillot in the 1930s. “Clothes are my job, and as I only know how to dress, I dressed this ELLE Decoration suite in the Cité de l’architecture & du patrimoine, with various touches that already grace my collections. First, the marine touch. Navy stripes are deployed and deformed on the walls, they are draped and curl around the furniture, a little “marine morphing” lounge that disappears in the white canvas. Then comes the green touch. Nature opens its doors ! Plants are invited in, a garden is printed on the walls! Ivy weaves into the sofa; lichen grows over the woven chairs in the shade of a tree, and moss, like green velvet, carpets …

Jean Paul Gaultier Couture Spring 2010

Jean Paul Gaultier Couture Spring 2010

Jean Paul Gaultier was my favourite show of the Spring 2010 couture season. It did all the right things: it was a spectacle and the details were magnificent. Mexico and the movie Avatar (which I think will be a trend influence unfortunately) inspired this collection. I thought the multi-colour eye makeup was really beautiful looking. It was fitting for a show where the colours were rich and vibrant. The accessories are captivating.  I love the piles and piles of bracelets and necklaces.  I could see Lady Gaga and the late Isabella Blow wearing the ornate hats.  Perhaps Tavi will take up the reins since she likes big hats too. I loved the woven leaf details of the handbags.  I’m not a fan of cowboy boots in any way but I found myself liking the green ones. images: style.com Isabella Blow

i want: Jean Paul Gaultier x Melissa

Jean Paul Gaultier x Melissa This shoe is putting me over the Melissa edge, I was tottering on it with Zaha Hadid collaboration. I wonder what it feels like on. Jean Paul Gaultier was one of the first designers to ever collaborate with Melissa back in 1982. Since then, the Brazilian brand of plastic shoes has worked with the likes of Mugler, Patrick Cox, Karim Rashid, Alexandre Herchcovitch, the Campana Brothers, and more recently Vivienne Westwood ,and Zaha Hadid. What does Barbara think?

I was reading the Buyers Report from WWD on the Fashion Spot and noticed that Barbara Atkin, vice president, fashion direction from Holt Renfrew talks about the collections from a retail perspective. Milan “Although Milan started as a somber season, it ended on a high note by offering a variety of beautiful and luxurious clothing with an infusion of newness. We saw a combination of the strict and subdued juxtaposed against a kaleidoscope of color, print and detail, all adding up to a decadent, luxurious bohemian style. We saw influences from the Seventies with long, lean silhouettes and covered-up clothes playing against the short and swinging. The ‘separates’ dressing that had its roots in the Seventies is making a strong return. We will be looking for luxurious coats; cropped or shapely jackets with accented shoulders; soft, folkloric dresses, blouses and skirts; cardigans and sweater coats; skinny and cropped pants, and man-tailored suits. We will be slightly increasing our budget over last year, as we believe our customer will continue to come to us looking for …
