Akris Spring Summer and Resort 2011

It took a Akris Resort 2011 Trunk Show at Holt Renfrew for me to have an appreciation for the brand. I always overlook them, but the prints from the Resort collection were pretty cool. You can’t really tell but the above resort 2011 print is a photo of people sitting in what looks like an outdoor cafe. It’s bizarre and a bit creepy but I love it.  The detail of the people isn’t something you notice until you stare for awhile I liked the seaside village print too. It’s like you are wearing a beautiful postcard. Akris Spring Summer 2011 was all about the flower print and colour blocking. The maxi length trend is one that I enjoy because I’m just tall enough to pull it off. Platforms help a lot too. The resort collection was more impressive to me but I’m curious what direction Akris will take for fall winter 2011. images: style.com

Sacai Spring Summer 2011

I’m loving that Sacai is becoming more popular. Style.com has posted the collection for two seasons in a row now. There are more photos available of the collections and now instead of judys we get real models. I love Sacai’s Fall Winter 2010 – 2011 collection. Chitose Abe, Sacai’s designer,creates contradictions that work. In typical Sacai style, tweeds and knits combined with anorak details create a unique look. Chanel Pop-Up Shop at Jeffrey, NYC

I love the Chanel Pop-up shop that is in the Jeffrey store in New York City. It features items from the Cruise 2011 collection. The installation recreates elements of Saint-Tropez where the show took place. You can watch the Chanel Cruise 2011 Collection on I want – I got. I posted the video earlier this year. It’s a beautiful scene but doesn’t come close to the spectacle of Spring Summer 2011. The shop is open from November 30 to January 4, 2010. images: WWD.com

Christopher Kane Resort 2011

Christopher Kane went with prints again for the Resort 2011 collection. Christopher Kane Resort 2010 featured images of Atomic bomb blasts that may or may not have been acquired in the proper manner. This season it was space and images from the Hubble telescope were used for the Resort 2011 collection.  I think Christopher is a closet science nerd with his interest in space and atomic bombs. images: thefashionspot.com

These Lanvin Resort 2011 group shots make me happy. Who wouldn’t be overjoyed frolicking around in Lanvin. I’m loving the platform wedges, especially in animal skin. Alexander McQueen Resort 2011

This is Sarah Burton’s first kick at the Alexander McQueen womenswear line since Alexander has died. I have to admit, I’m liking this Resort 2011 collection. It’s a safe collection and you can see the difference a woman’s touch makes. It’s a much softer collection that manages to keep a lot of traditional McQueen elements. images: style.com
