i want…

Beatrix Ong shoes I discovered Beatrix Ong through Cool Hunting post, who discovered it through the ever so cool, Refinery 29. Cool shoes are never sold in Canada, sigh. They are pretty much everywhere else in the world, even Moscow! This is one amazing summer sandal. I wonder if I can find something similar in Toronto.

Kate Moss Topshop

Kate Moss Topshop Like most celebrity clothing lines I am bored with Kate Moss’s Topshop venture. I do like this dress though. What do you guys think of the line? It seems like a lot of hype for pretty boring clothes. And isn’t the midriff thing dead yet? EDIT: Catwalk Queen live blogged the whole event and shows us some of the outfits on real people. I’m not dissing the people here, I’m dissing the clothes, so let’s get that straight first. The dress I like (above) doesn’t stand up to the reality factor. Check out the other looks – striped hotpants and waistcoat, chiffon one-shoulder dress and halter mini and the floral dress & red jeans with video also. I find the formal dresses particularly bad, especially the one with the vest. ANOTHER EDIT: fashionista.com gives their verdict on the white one-shoulder dress. Susie Stylebubble adds her 2 cents on the line

i want… The Clothing Show edition – Moonrox

In honour of the Clothing Show (May 5- 6, 2007) I will featuring my favourite designers that you can find at the show. This special “i want…” features Moonrox. Moonrox jewelery has been featured on I want – I got previously and I also interviewed designer Monique Chan on blogTO. I’m in love with this bracelet, it screams summertime to me. All photos are from Monique’s new collection.

i want… The Clothing Show edition – Knotty Girls

In honour of the Clothing Show (May 5- 6, 2007) I will featuring my favourite designers that you can find at the show. Starting the week off is Knotty Girls. I previously featured a pearl and silk necklace from Knotty Girls’s designer Danielle Ker. Ribbon is a big feature in Danielle’s designs. She’s a ribbon nut and previously worked at Mokuba, that beautiful and colourful store on the corner of Queen Street West and Portland Ave. Wrap Necklace

Those Prada turbans are damn small

So Prada has made the turban a hot item for spring 2007. I actually got to touch one in person at Holt Renfrew the other day. These things are tiny. I have a pretty small head and I couldn’t fit into a medium. Is Stam’s head that tiny? I think the turban cost $250 bucks. I also saw the knockoff version from M by Madonna for H&M this weekend, it’s a hell of a lot cheaper ($14.99). Man is that collection boring, I’m sure it will sell though. As you can guess, the H&M version wasn’t quite as nice as Prada.

Better in theory

I love the new spring 2007 coats at Club Monaco. First they came in black and khaki with wide cropped sleeves. They look amazing on the mannequin. Then I spotted the slicker version. Grey patent, this would be a standout coat. Unfortunately, I realized that I couldn’t pull it off. I put this coat on and it looked like a big plastic bag wrapped around me. Sigh, no patent jackets for me. 🙁 The black one was okay, but looked much better on the mannequin.

Chanel Couture Spring 2007

I’ve just noticed that I enjoy the location of Karl’s show more than the clothes. After seeing Dior and JPG, I’m so bored with this. However, the location of the show is beautiful. I loved the shoes though. Now, I understand what Jeanne Beker was going off about at the Bata Shoe Museum exhibit opening last week. Karl’s influence is on display there now. images: thefashionspot.com

Steven Meisel: Smart Moves

Steven Meisel Smart Moves: Vogue Feature Story on Style.com A little picture commentary for you by me. This is from Vogue January 2007. I’ve been ignoring this rave fashion trend that is supposely coming back. I figured it would be just a fringe thing. This picture has the dreaded sneaker heel by Dries Van Noten. I really like this photo for some reason. I do hope that this look doesn’t go mainstream. I like it and all, but it’s not something I want to see executed without stylist supervision. I hate to admit this but I do like this layered tank by Marc Jacobs. Makeup and hat are a big no for me though. images: vogue

i want: Christian Louboutin Spring Summer 2007 Shoes

The new Louboutins for SS2007 are out. Here are my favourites This shoe is called Cosette which is funny because I’m giving Les Miserables(the book) a second go. The first time I got halfway and then lost my copy of the book. I was very pissed, this thing is 1300 pages long. I found another copy but it was months later and I would have to start all over again. So it got delayed a few years.

Rendering judgement on the S/S 2007 collections

Gap Press has hit the newsstands. I don’t pay much attention to shows until the Gap Press books come out. I enjoy the experience much more with the magazines. My favourite collections: Balenciaga – I’m loving futurism shit. It’s all about the C3PO leggings, love them. Alexander McQueen – Of course, he can do no wrong in my book Christian Dior – JG took a step back this season and it’s amazing Miu Miu – Loved the pallet and prints Prada – Who cares if there were no pants Comme Des Garcons – The jackets were so incredible Dolce & Gabbana – I totally blew these guys off awhile ago. Boy was I wrong. The runway show was awesome too. God, that runway. images: modeinfo.com, fashionroom.it

something fun for spring

I laughed my ass off when I saw these handbags. That is very clever Mr. Marc Jacobs, I have to give you props for this handbag from the Louis Vuitton Spring 2007 collection. I can’t wait to see this hit the streets and the knockoffs to bound to follow. I wonder how many people will take their own chinese shopping bag and paint the LV logo on it. Check out the full Louis Vuitton Spring 2007 collection. I was suprised, I didn’t hate every piece in the collection. I actually liked some of it. It’s loooong though, freakin’ 55 pieces.

L’Oreal Fashion Week

Yay. I’m excited as I got my media pass to L’Oreal Fashion Week confirmed yesterday. Be sure to check blogTO.com for my report from the runways. I really want to see a lot of Tuesdays program but I’m booked with my software quality group TASSQ that day. I can’t decide what to do. sigh
