My friends at Brill Communications send me a little package that consisted of Yardley of London English Lavender Bath/Shower Gel and perfumed talc. I’m a lavender junkie, so I was really excited when I opened the package.
The heritage of Yardley is Lavender.
When Yardley first opened its doors in London in 1770, lavender was the herb chosen to perfume an exclusive range of luxury soaps, a decision that established English Lavender as the international signature fragrance of Yardley. No one knows lavender quite like Yardley. Since 1770 the company has specialised in providing the finest bath luxuries scented with the distinctive aromatic freshness of this classic English herb.
Over the centuries Yardley has devoted its energy to searching out the finest quality plants and oils and to developing luxury fragrances with a contemporary feel. No other company understands the benefits of this unique herb better than Yardley. Lavender has the ability to uplift, calm, restore and heal. Justifiably the company claim is: Yardley English Lavender – The finest lavender in the world.
Yardley lavender is quite wonderful. It’s has a beautiful, natural scent that isn’t overpowering. The bath gel produces a nice foam and works very well when used as a shower gel. I’m not a big talc user but it smells so wonderful that I find myself using it for no reason.
You can purchase Yardley of London products at Shopper’s Drug Mart. They retail for $16.99.
I had to post one of the old advertisements. Check the Yardley site for more

I love this! My first ever encounter with lavender as a child was with Yardley talcum powder! It’s my benchmark for how a pleasing lavender scent should be. Yardley is still a favorite, although Crabtree & Evelyn and Marks & Spencer do make yummy alternatives. Crabtree soaps are the best, though. I keep a bar in its box underneath my pillows to perfume my bed.
I get my lavender essential oil via mail order from Melbourne, because I blend my own massage oil. French lavender essential oil is sadly too expensive.
My latest lavender related purchase is 50g of a dried lavender blossom and green tea blend from a tony patisserie called Bizu in Manila. Fantastic. Lavender actually helps me wind down at the end of a stressful day.
