geekiviews: Emergency Valet and Purse Hooker

I hate good ideas poorly executed. It was bad from the absolute beginning and frustrating. I received a package of items from the company My Tagalongs via Ashworth & Associates. They are the makers of a great product called Tagalongs which are disposable underwear. They are perfect to keep around for a variety of reasons. I keep a pair at the gym for those days I forget to stock up my locker and I’m left with no underwear after coming out of the shower. Those days are not fun and Tagalongs have saved my ass before. The first item was the Emergency Valet for $30 bucks. It includes a metal crush-proof Tampon Tube (it looks like a cigar holder), portable Eco-Chic Tote, Sticky Notes To Go (different sizes in one pad) and a 911 Tin (a sewing kit, pre-cut double-sided clothing tape, tweezers, a nail file, a hair elastic, band-aids and individually wrapped flossers). This is a great idea. Everything is small enough to fit in your purse. I love the 911 Tin. The Eco-Chic …

geekiviews: L’Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes

I tend to avoid mascara that requires two products to work. Too time consuming and I think that it’s a bit of overkill. The product should deliver results without the white base coat first. I managed to score myself a sample of the soon to be released L’Oreal Double Extend Beauty Tubes. A nourishing and lengthening mascara. Canadians will be able to purchase this mascara in January of 2009. It was the official mascara for L’Oreal Fashion Week Spring 2009. Here’s the corporate speak Unlike traditional mascaras that paint or coat your lashes with mascara formula, Double Extend® Beauty Tubesâ„¢ Technology forms lash-extending tubes that firmly attach to the tip of your lashes. These tubes visibly lengthen your lashes up to 80%, and provide excellent wear, as they will not run, smudge, clump or flake all day. The beauty tubes remove easily from lashes with just water – no makeup remover or rubbing necessary. The ultra-nourishing patented base coat with Ceramide R nourishes lashes, and provides a unique layer of protection that prepares lashes for …

Fashion sCares

I attended Fashion sCares. It was a blast getting dressed up and everything. I chronicled my adventure at blogTO.com. You can find the direct link here, Fashion sCares: The Costume Report. I was the one and only Grace Jones and here was my inspiration and the execution. I didn’t have the jacket, which looks like Issey Miyake so I decided to forget that and do the tried and true jumpsuit. I think I’m a fan of jumpsuits now, they are a lot of fun. Until you have to go to the bathroom. I paired the jumpsuit with a scarf to emulate the look of the jacket. Danielle from Final Fashion totally helped me out with the mask. If it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t have been able to pull this look off. My next thanks is to Gail McInnes who did my makeup and completed the look. Here are my photos from the night. After looking at them again, I realize that I did a song and dance for Rex Harrington that night. (Read the …

The 2nd annual Flourish for Reena event took place last week. There were 16 wine vendors from around the globe with a focus on Chile. They all setup their tasting stations and away everyone went. I’m a …

Virgin Unite Canada – The Mad Hatter’s Ball

Virgin Unite Canada – The Mad Hatter’s Ball So this was my first swanky fundraiser invite. The Mad Hatter’s Ball was an event for Virgin Unite, the not-for-profit entrepreneurial foundation of the Virgin Group. This is the second year this event has taken place in Canada. It also takes place across the world in other major cities. Virgin Unite is the entrepreneurial foundation of the Virgin Group. We work with great partners all over the world to develop new approaches to social and environmental issues. We’re fortunate that Richard and the Virgin group pick up our overhead costs – so 100% of all donations go directly to the frontline where it is needed the most. We believe that the only way we are going to drive the scale of change that needs to happen in the world, is if we revolutionise the way that the business and social sectors work together. We want to use all the entrepreneurial energy across the Virgin Group to help drive this revolution. Richard Branson didn’t spend much time with …
