Victoria’s Secret PINK launches in Canada

I’ve been waiting for Victoria’s Secret to make their move to Canada for a few years now. They have decided to make a move into the market but not in the way I expected. Victoria’s Secret PINK has opened at Square One in Mississauga. I really was hoping for the regular Victoria’s Secret and I’m not sure why they went in this direction. Victoria’s Secret Pink is: a fully-articulated lifestyle brand designed for young women. Optimistic and confident girls find perfect expression in PINK’s assortment of versatile activewear, loungewear, sleepwear, lingerie and accessories to complement their PINK style. Vibrant, colorful stores match the PINK girl’s dynamic individuality and on-the-go lifestyle. The Pink line isn’t for me as it’s obviously for tweens and teenagers with its collegiate influence. I don’t find any of it very compelling. However, I can see young girls who want to buy into the Victoria’s Secret brand being interested. I was invited to the store opening but couldn’t attend. I probably would have been able to ask questions at that time. This …

i want: Yaudie tshirts

Yaudie is a line created by a high school friend of mine. It’s funny how lives come together years afterwards in unusual ways. Yaudie is very influenced by Caribbean roots and heritage. So, when I saw this Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum inspired shirt I was in love. Wray & Nephew White Overproof Rum is a crazy rum you can only get in the Caribbean. It’s Jamaican actually (my parents are from Barbados). It’s 63% but it’s fantastic in punch and other fruity drinks. They won’t allow it in Canada so the only way to get it is to travel or get friends to bring you back some. As you can imagine, it gets you drunk fast and doesn’t taste like the hell you would expect. It’s one of my favourite rums. You can purchase Yaudie Ts off the website. You can also check out the Yaudie blog. images:

Balenciaga Shoes – Spring 2010

I’ve found some detail shots of the Balenciaga Spring 2010 Ready to Wear collection. The shoes are quite interesting. The fabric treatment reminds me of a woven rug. They don’t look comfortable at all. That band (in black, white or matching fabric) looks like it would be very painful after a few hours. Not sure I’m a fan. I would say I like the tall black and white pair and the short pair pictured above. images:

TEFW Outfits – Greta Constantine Spring 2010

Of course I was representing Greta at their show. I wore one of the jackets from the Fall 2009 collection. I paired it with a white tank top and amazing leather leggings from Danier. I’ve been so impressed with Danier lately, they are stepping up their style game. I even bought a leather motorcycle jacket from them recently. I knew my quest for a Rick Owens version was probably years away. I wore my Luxury Rebel booties and with my purple Marc Jacobs bag. image: Jason Howlett

TEFW Outfits – Fashion Crimes

On Day 2 of LG Fashion Week I wore Fashion Crimes. It’s been a lot of near misses but I finally got myself outfitted for a night at Fashion Crimes. I had a great time with Coco choosing an outfit and jewellery in the store. Mi Concept Jacket; Dress by Pam Chorley; Earrings, ring and necklace, Fashion Crimes. I want to thank Miss Sly for the photo. She mentioned me in a post about LG Fashion Week.

TEFW – Dare To Wear Love Spring 2010

There are times when I can’t find the words to talk about a topic. It can be a fashion show, event, etc. I end up sitting on the post until it comes to me and that is why this final LG Fashion Week show review on Dare to Wear Love is so late. The Dare to Wear Love show, full of beautiful fashion, dance and music inspired by Africa. The multi-faceted collaboration is the largest public dare of the SLF’s new fundraising initiative A Dare to Remember. Recently launched, the nationwide initiative challenges Canadians to take on dares of all kinds to raise awareness and funds for the grassroots organizations in Africa that are on the frontlines of the AIDS pandemic. The most perfect thigh high boot is an Alaia

I’ve looked at a lot of thigh high boots and I have to say these Azzedine Alaia ones are perfect. I’ve been weary of the stiletto heel with point toe style of thigh highs but they seem to dominate the choices. This Alaia boot has none of those things. It’s a practical pair of thigh highs without the crazy heel and platform. image:

Macallan Scotch Tasting at ONE Hazelton

I was invited to the Macallan Scotch Tasting which was held at ONE in the Hazelton Hotel from the folk at Matchstick. I accepted on a lark. I didn’t like scotch but I decided to learn more about it. I attended the Kettle One Vodka tasting and had a great time. So, I invited three friends and headed down. We were presented with four different glasses. They contained Macallan scotch of different ages; 10, 12, 15 and 18 year old. I didn’t liked scotch before but now I can say I do. It’s a complex drink and I was partial to the 15 year old. I liked the combination of the bourbon and sherry casks instead of just the sherry alone. We saw the Macallan ice ball making machine in action. It takes a cube of ice and turns it into a ball. The circular shaped ice doesn’t melt as fast as a cube so you can chill your scotch which diluting it too much. I was lucky enough to get the demo glass. More …

Hmm, Holt Renfrew has a You Tube channel

I just discovered the Holt Renfrew You Tube channel. I’ve found myself in a few videos. Holt Renfrew Media Cocktail during LG Fashion Week – I’m towards the end of this video. Seeing this was a surprise and I’m still mad I didn’t see Sam Neill in person. He was looking pretty good too. Stupid, stupid. I was at the Style Rules – Porsche Panamera Launch. I’m showing off my equestrian inspired outfit to the camera. I knew ahead of time that I made the cut for this video. You can see the back of my head in the video for The Sartorialist event. I’m talking to Roz, the stylist.
