Group Therapy with Dermalogica

Dermalogica

I’m a big Dermalogica fan. I got into to their skin care regimen a few years ago. Even though I receive products from other brands I always have some sort of Dermalogica product in my routine.  I attended a Dermalogica event called Group Therapy with .  It was a bloggers only event.  Dermalogica is smart and called us online editors instead of bloggers in their communication.  It was a personal face analysis session at the Dermalogica Training Centre in Toronto. I wanted to take advantage of the Dermalogica experts and check that I had the right product mix. It was a very informative session and it changed up my routine.

Prior to attending the session my kit included: Special Cleansing Gel, Skin Prep Scrub, Multi-Active Toner, Total Eye Care and Active Moist moisturizer.  At the session, my expert recommended some different products in the line. I discovered the PreCleanse as the first step. It’s a lightweight cleansing oil that removes sebum and oil based debris from the skin before using the Special Cleansing Gel. It even removes eye makeup. The Multi-Active Toner didn’t change in my routine.  I now use the Daily Resurfacer or Daily Microfoliant instead of the Skin Prep Scrub. The Daily Resurfacer is a small finger mitt that has a mixture of exfoliating products . You rub the mitt gently in circles on your face avoiding the eye area.  I didn’t try the Daily Microfoliant in the session but I’ve added it to my routine.  I alternate it with the Resurfacer. It comes in powder form and you add a bit of water to make a paste and then rub gently into the skin. I can never go back to the Skin Prep Scurb again. It isn’t as effective as the Daily Resurfacer or Daily Microfoliant.  I tried the C-12 Concentrate Extreme C targeted treatment from Dermalogica’s  ChromaWhite line. For that last couple months I’ve used the Génifique, Youth activating concentrate and Genifique Eye Youth Activating Eye Concentrate (Both courtesy of L’Oreal Canada). I really like this product.  The Skin Smoothing Cream was the moisturizer suggested and I love it.  It has a heavier weight than Active Moist but it hydrates better and I like it’s smoothing properties.  Finally, it was time for sunscreen and I tried the Sheer Moisturizer spf 15.  I asked about eye cream and what I was using was fine, but I tried a bit of the Multivitamin Power Firm.

After putting on all these products my skin looked clean and healthy. My skin was so incredibly soft. I was totally impressed.  It’s something I just haven’t been able to replicate so far.  I need all the tools.  It was good to have the expertise of the Dermalogica gurus because I like the new set of products better. At the end of the event we received gift bags with full-sized bottles of product. It contained PreCleanse, Special Cleansing Gel, Multi-Active Toner, Daily Microfoliant and Skin Smoothing  Cream.  I bought a pack of the Daily Resurfacer at my gym but they didn’t have the C-12 Concentrate Extreme C. My hunt for it continues so I can recreated the extreme skin softness from that day in the Dermalogica lab.
