i want: MYKITA MYLON x Moncler

I’m in love with another pair of MYKITA sunglasses and of course it’s another designer collaboration. I’m a proud owner of Alexandre Herchcovitch x MYKITA sunglasses and I loved playing with the MYLON pairs at the trunk show. The new collaboration is with Moncler which really has me freaking out. In 1954 Lino Lacedelli and Achille Compagnoni became the first men to conquer the second highest mountain in the world, equipped with specially made down jackets by Moncler. A homage to the mountain and its conquerors was created in the form of the two sunglasses, LINO and ACHILLE, suitable for downhill runs and also as classic sunglasses for everyday use. I love the Lino style because of the curved edges.  I can’t believe they are good for skiing too.  All I need is a Moncler puffy for the slopes. Made from the polyamide-based material MYLON, developed and patented by MYKITA, the frames are very light, extremely durable and individually adjustable to the wearer. Both models are available in the colours red, blue and in a …

Prada Spring Summer 2012 Ad Campaign Print and Video

Prada looked to vintage cars as her inspiration for Spring Summer 2012. The collection is playful and reminds me of Grease. The shoes are pretty killer too. This campaign video doesn’t even come close to being as good as Spring Summer 2011, it’s still pretty fun. i want: Miu Miu Culte Sunglasses

Leave it to Miuccia to come up with more sunglasses that I need to own. This time it’s not a pair of Prada’s I’m drooling over, it’s Miu Miu. These are from the Culte Sunglasses Collection. I love the pentagonal-shaped and brushed gold finish. The sunglasses are also featured in Miu Miu’s latest fashion film, Women’s Tales Saga. The film stars Italian actress Maya Sansa and is set to a haunting soundtrack, written especially for the film by electronic pop trio Au Revoir Simone. Following The Powder Room — Zoe Cassavetes’ dreamy story of opulence and glamour, and MUTA — Lucrecia Martel’s film noir filled with mutant fashion divas — The Woman Dress is again set in an all-female world of glamour and desire. But this time fashion obsession is taken to its most extreme conclusion, in a metaphysical tale of transcendence and ritual. images: miumiu.com

i want: Moncler S Navy Yukari Coat

I’m such a huge Moncler fan after purchasing my Moncler S ‘Shihoko’ Trench coat last year. It’s my favourite spring/fall jacket right now. I really want to get a winter coat by Moncler S but that time has passed and I’m now obsessing over the spring 2012 Moncler S Navy Yukari Coat.  It’s a simple jacket but I love the asymmetric hem and drawstring. images: ssense.com

Givenchy Spring Summer 2012 Haute Couture

Givenchy Spring Summer Couture 2012. What else is there to say but wow. Riccardo Tisci was influenced by Fritz Lang’s Metropolis and Aelita for the Spring Summer 2012 Haute Couture collection. The crocodile gown took some 350 hours produce. The atelier would disassemble a skin, bleach it, re-dye it and remount it on tulle. It’s just incredible. I love that this shoot had a basketball theme.  It was shot in the oldest gymnasium in Paris. I wasn’t a fan of the oversized nose rings and earrings. They looked more painful than beautiful. Le sigh, these shoes are divine. I hate celebrity fashion but here is a photo of Zoe Saldana wearing one of the gowns from the collection. Check out some more photos in the slideshow. images: wwd.com, pleasemagazine.com

geekiview: Simons Online Shopping

A few weeks ago I received an email from a web consultant that was working with Quebec based Simons. He asked me to write a review of the shopping experience and would provide me with a $50 gift certificate to get started. Simons has always been a must visit on my trips to Montreal. I accepted his offer and hence this post. The gift certificate came to me via email which I thought was excellent considering a physical card really didn’t serve a purpose in this situation. The Simons.ca website has a clean, simple layout and lots of white space. I hate websites will lots of bells and whistler or ones that use flash and play music automatically. It shouldn’t take the user many mouse clicks to get product into a shopping cart and I tend to give up on sites with lousy user interfaces. The Simons.ca user interface provides all the search functions I expect: colour, brand, price and date added. I purchased the Trompe-l’oeil plunge-neck sweater and a large cowl neck striped tunic. …
