Hudson Collection Spring Summer 2011 Preview

I hit up The Mint Agency spring summer 2011 preview and got a look at the new Hudson Collection items that will be available at Holt Renfrew next year. I’m so happy with the Hudson jeans I own (thx Hudson). They fit great and make me look long and lean, irregardless of style. They are everything I want in a pair of jeans and are making other brands on my shelf a little lonely. At my day job, I have Denim Days till the end of the year. It’s a charity thing. Normally my office is business casual from Monday to Thursday. I turn up in my appropriate but fashion crazy outfits, like skyscraper platform heels and asymmetrical dresses. I’m living in my Hudson’s right now, it’s awesome. In October, I teamed up with The Mint Agency and Hudson to launch the fall winter 2010 Hudson Collection at Holt Renfrew. The Hudson Collection is a high end version that differs due to their handmade nature. I liked the fall winter 2010 collection so I was …

i want: Christmas Trees in Recycled Cardboard by Boutique Cascades

I got a press release about these recycled cardboard Christmas Trees by Cacades. I thought they were a neat modern take on the tree.  I like the blank option on the trees so that they can be customized. There are size three options: Classico at 41″ x 28″ , Moderno at 52″ x 29″ and Piccolo at 24″ x 13″. Each size comes in three colours: white, forest green and a print version. A Made-to-Measure Christmas Tree With   its   long   detachable   pieces   that   remind   you   of   a   puzzle, assembling the Christmas tree becomes a true child’s game and once the  Holiday  Season  is  over,  it  can  easily  be  stored.    Developed  in concert  with  Cascades’  Italian  partner,  Reno  De  Medici,  the  first  3 models  of  the  Collection  Reno  Carton  3D TM ,  the  Classico,  Moderno and Piccolo trees are manufactured in high quality cardboard and will not fail to seduce with their great design. In white, they offer a beautiful canvas for kids and adults to use their imagination in decorating and customizing the tree to …

Playing in Jeremy Laing Spring Summer 2011

I finally got to see Jeremy Laing’s new studio in Toronto and it is beautiful. Many people told me that his space was incredible and they were so right. It has a clawfoot tub! That’s like my dream. A lot of the looks were out on loan but there were lots of jackets and leather pieces to play with. I didn’t mind that a lot of things were on loan because I couldn’t fit into the dresses which was a bit of a boo urns moment. The dresses were so pretty. So I played in some coats.  They were voluminous but the ties allowed for customization.  The above photo I have the ties loose. This one found it’s way home with me.  Wise investment.  In this photo I’ve used the ties at my waist.  This coat is also shorter than the beige one. I’m dying over these leather shorts. They are perfect and they fit perfect.  I was stunned.  They also have ties.  I like them down on the shorts. I love the hand woven …

Tron Legacy x Opening Ceremony

I got invited to a Tron Legacy screening next week so I thought it would be a good time to talk about the Tron Legacy x Opening Ceremony collection.  I really like the shoes and the laser cut details on the skirt and dress.  The collection is very colourful which I love. This fall/winter 2010, opening ceremony has collaborated with disney consumer products to create a special capsule collection inspired by tron: legacy. opening ceremony travels into the tron universe, where high-tech aesthetics and neon dominate to create futuristic designs. incorporating the four tron colors of yellow, orange, blue, and black, the women’s collection features bomber jackets with over-sized funnel necks, snug scuba shirts, bodice dresses, seamed leggings, dresses with laser-cut ring patterns, and more. Inspired by high-performance athletic apparel, Opening Ceremony uses stretch spandex with flat-lock stitching to create ergonomic, form-fitting styles. You can get the Tron Legacy x Opening Ceremony collection online at Opening Ceremony. images: openingceremony.us

Calvin Klein Beauty Launch

I attended the launch event for the new Calvin Klein fragrance called Beauty. This was an interesting event because two people heavily involved in the development of the fragrance were in attendance, Perfumer Sophie Labbe and Senior Manager Global Marketing Stephanie Schwab. Both women talked about their involvement in the fragrance from the creation of the packaging and advertising, to the actual scent itself. I managed to get a bit of Sophie Labbe talking about Beauty. Beauty is a floral scent with it’s main influence being the Calla Lily. Top notes are Fresh Notes and Jasmine. Middle notes are Lily, White Flowers and Spicy Notes. Base notes are Cedar and Ambrette. It’s a nice light fragrance but not something I gravitate to. The event also had a photo exhibition that interpreted the beauty of the Call Lily through the eyes of five female photographers: Caitlin Cronenberg, Davida Nemeroff, Jody Rogac, Karen Roze and Natasha V. There is also big advertising campaign with Diane Kruger for Beauty but I’m not that concerned so I haven’t linked …

Seventy Seven by Kim Newport-Mimran

Seventy Seven is the flagship store for Pink Tartan by Kimberley Newport-Mimran. The shop featured the Pink Tartan collection and a selection of items that complement the line and represent the Pink Tartan lifestyle. The store is located in Yorkville and has taken over a historic Georgian building. The historic Georgian gem was built in 1837, and since 1926 it housed the antique treasure trove The Paisley Shop. The space has been redesigned by inter-nationally acclaimed designer Diego Burdi of Burdifilek (W hotels Atlanta, The Thompson residences presentation centre Toronto, the Club Monaco flagship in New York City). “It is beautiful and white, with light herringbone floors and modern panelling,” says Newport-Mimran, who wanted the shop to reflect the homes she shares in Toronto and New York with her husband, Joe Mimran, and family. “We have mixed modern classics with vintage pieces.” Context was the point for her first foray into retail under her own label, an opportunity to showcase the full Pink Tartan lifestyle. I went to the media preview a few days before …

i want: Anita Frame Satchel by Alexander Wang

I was browsing the Jonathan+Olivia site (they have online shopping too) when I noticed that one of this season’s Alexander Wang handbag style name is called Anita. The Anita Frame Satchel by Alexander Wang isn’t the Diego bucket bag but it’s still pretty nice. The inner narcissist in me really wants to buy this bag. images: jonathanandolivia.com
