i want: Strappy Booties by B Brian Atwood

I haven’t had a drool worthy shoe moment for a long time, then I saw these crazy, beautiful booties on the Intermix website.  These exclusive to Intermix booties are from B Brian Atwood which is Brian Atwood’s lower priced shoe line. I love the cognac colour of these shoes but I know the 5″ stiletto heel is just a bit too high for me and the platform is only a quarter inch. I know my limits and I’ll be satisfied with just staring. These are available exclusively at IntermixOnline.com. I’m not sure if they will be available at the Toronto location. images: intermixonline.com

i want: Duck Bag and Backpack by Baggu

Backpacks are such a huge trend right now and I’ve been overloaded with backpack pitches. Now I’m interested in backpacks. I have an MEC pack that’s very good but not stylish in any way. It’s also too big. I’m currently enjoying a Nella Bella backpack from the Fall Winter 2012 collection but I could use one a bit smaller. Baggu creates simple cotton handbags in vibrant colours. I love the simplicity of these packs and the colour schemes. The Duck Bags are really cute too. Baggu bags can be found at Magic Pony in Toronto and The Drake General Store. images: magic-pony.com

i want: Maryam Keyhani Fall Winter 2012 – 2013

Ever since reading Overdressed, I’ve been thinking about spending my money with a bit more caution when it comes to fashion. High on my priorities are well made, wearability and country of origin. I’ve decided that less is more and I want to stop those random H&M or Zara purchases and save for a couple of big ticket purchases a season. The fall, I want a Maryam Keyhani necklace. Maryam’s work is as stunningly beautiful as she is. I really feel like these necklaces portrays her aesthetic perfectly. And who doesn’t want a part of that. Maryam’s necklaces feature folded silks, structured metal and strands of pearls. Maryam Keyhani is available at Holt Renfrew in Toronto. images: torontolife.com

i want: Marni Winter Edition 2012 Sunglasses

I love that some PRs have caught on to the fact that I love sunglasses just a little too much. My Mom asked me how many pairs I have the other day. I sheepishly replied eight. Now most people would say that`s probably a little excessive but I have no plans on keeping my collection at 8. Marni`s 2012 Winter Edition Sunglasses are on my hot list right now. I love the colours and flower motif. The main feature of the sunglasses from the MARNI WINTER EDITION 2012 EYEWEAR COLLECTION is the contrast between opaque and shiny used for a flower motif on relief in the upper part of the frame. Opaline and watery colors range from bright green, pink, yellow and red to sand and brown, while temples are in contrasting solid colors. I`m not sure which retailers in Canada will be stocking these but they are available online at marni.com and in all Marni Boutiques. images: courtesy of Marni

geekiviews: Love Beach Flip Flops

Flip flops are utility shoe for me. They have their place in my public life and that’s at beach or in a gym shower. Flat leather sandals are my preferred choice for summer footwear. I have no rugs, hardwood floors and two cats at my place so I wear flip-flops instead of wearing the cute knit slippers my cousin made me for Christmas. The knit skippers would just be a dust and hair magnet. The random swag flip-flops I’ve collected over the years were all not very comfortable. I received an email about reviewing flip-flops that had some support features and I said why not. Bonus is that they are Canadian. Love Beach is a Ottawa based company. They are striving to make the perfect flip-flop that can be dressed up or down. The fashion aspect of the shoes didn’t really interest me but the claims of “Gentle arch support, Gel cushion heels for optimal wear-ability, Triple layer EVA soles for softness and durability, Nice “huggy” fit – no floppiness, Supple TPU uppers help minimize …

i want: Linda Farrow Luxe Fall Winter 2012 – 2013 Sunglasses

I haven’t added any new sunglasses to my collection this summer. It’s kinda making me depressed in a weird way. Karir Eyewear is bringing some great snakeskin Linda Farrow Luxe sunglasses to the store this upcoming fall. The Linda Farrow Luxe collection features handmade sunglasses using high end materials like horn, leather, titanium and snakeskin. The shapes are classic but the snakeskin makes them different from the rest. images: courtesy of Karir

Louie Gong x Manitobah Mukluks Gatherer Boot

I have to admit I’m a bit surprised that I’m writing about Manitobah Mukluks. I’m not a fan of Mukluks and I usually cringe whenever I see people wearing them around the city. They are very popular and the Manitobah Mukluks company is as close to the genuine article as you are going to get. I’m a huge fan of Louie Gong though and he’s partnered with Manitobah Mukluks to create a boot even I can love. Louie Gong x Manitobah Mukluks Gatherer Boot is described by Louie: The eagle is a cross-cultural symbol of strength, leadership, and long-term vision. By portraying the eagle on a women’s mukluck with a diving posture, oversized claws, and open mouth, I offer symbolic acknowledgment of strong women of all backgrounds. When wearing this eagle design, each step represents bold movement towards your life goals and leading our families into the next generation. The grey Louie Gong x Manitobah Mukluks Gatherer Boot are pretty damn cool. The boots are available for Pre-order on manitobah.ca for $299 with delivery happening …

i want: Alterna Earrings by MARLU

Who doesn’t need a pair of Neon earrings! I’m in love with these neon beauties from Canadian jewellery brand, MARLU. I wrote about MARLU’s statement jewellery last year on I want – I got. I think these earrings would be a perfect addition to my obnoxious (but popular) neon dress and necklace combination. They are available online for $90 at Ukamaku.com. image: ukamaku.com

i want: Hermes Editeur Scarves by Hiroshi Sugimoto

If had a few tens of thousands lying around, I’d be buying Hermès Editeur scarves by artist Hiroshi Sugimoto. Hermès Editeur is a limited edition collaboration with visual artists who take their craft and interpret it into a Hermès scarf. They are all very beautiful and expensive. You are basically buying a piece of art on silk with the Hermès Editeur items. Hiroshi Sugimoto’s line is a limited edition run of 140 scarves at $7000 each. The colours are simple but so vibrant and stunning. Hiroshi Sugimoto is a celebrated artist from Japan. Born in Tokyo in 1948, Hiroshi Sugimoto moved to the United States in 1970 to study photography at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles, earning a B.F.A. in 1974. There he absorbed the tenets of Conceptualism and Minimalism that continue to inform the technical and intellectual rigor of his work. In 1974 he moved to New York City. In his photographic series, as well as his experiments with sculptural objects, architecture and exhibition design, Sugimoto attempts to highlight and …

Schutz Fall Winter 2012 – 2013 Preview

Schutz is a Brazilian shoe company I’ve recently discovered. I was eyeing a pair of platform wedge sandals from Schutz from eLuxe which I ended up turning into an i got. The shoe is super light and I’m really looking forward to taking them for a spin. Schutz’s creative director is luxury shoemaker Alexandre Birman. Shoemaking is in the blood and 39 years ago his father founded the Arezzo Group. The company is made up of three brands: Arezzo (lower-priced collection), Schutz(the contemporary collection) and Alexandre Birman (luxury collection). Alexandre started designing Schutz 15 years ago and it’s finally making it was to North American markets. The shoes are all made in Brazil. I attended the Schutz Fall Winter 2012 – 2013 preview and got a look at the extensive collection. See the rest of my photo in the slideshow
